WASHINGTON — Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was "off the table."

Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.

Kucinich introduced a resolution last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate.

Kucinich won 50 percent of the vote in a five-way House Democratic primary in March, beating back critics who said he ignored business at home to travel the country in his quest to be president.

I am so grateful to Kucinich and so proud. I teach my kids about the Constitution since schools don't anymore, along with civics and we watched this together tonight and the fact that they understood the gravity of it- my kids preferred Kucinich in the primary. I wish I had been as brave as they had been.

His introduction of articles of impeachment against Cheney were stalled by the House Judiciary Committee. Yes, the same one John Conyers is the chairman of. Conyers always hides behind the excuse that "they don't have the votes". Oh yea? Give 'er a whirl!

While the House can bring charges, impeachment's up to the Senate.

The Constitution, Article I, Section 3:
The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Why look foolish?

At least they finially reported it. I couldn't find anyone else that was reporting it. The only way I heard about it, was from an e-mail from impeachbush.org.
If only impeachment could be brought to a popular vote.

It is not good for Congress to be so out of step with the wishes of the nation.
We have a terrible President, a terrible Congress, and a terrible Supreme Court.
The nation may not be able to survive all three.
