Kucinich

WASHINGTON — Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was "off the table."

Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.

Kucinich introduced a resolution last year to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate.

Kucinich won 50 percent of the vote in a five-way House Democratic primary in March, beating back critics who said he ignored business at home to travel the country in his quest to be president.

Liz Kucinich sees something the entire American media has missed. Dennis is the biggest man in Congress.

I have been calling my Representative, albio Sires, for the past year and a half about this. I have called the house Judiciary committee @202-225-3951. Nancy Pelosi @202-225-4965. John Conyers @202-225-5126 Dennis Kucinish @202-225-5871 and Robert Wexler @202-225-3001. I believe the Capital Hill switchboard number is 202-225-3121, ask for a Member of Congress or a committee and they will transfer the call. Go to CSpan and get the members home pages from their listings. There is no toll free phone number for the Capital Hill switchboard that I have been able to find. Remember the actions of future presidents may be influenced by what we do about this President. We do nothing and some future President will stop being our President and will become our dictator or king.

No kidding, just a bit too late.

The clowns in congress do not care a bit about this.

Just follow the money and you will se why these clowns in congress do not care about anybody, not you nor me.

Congress is just a facade for a corrupt government within the government.

Party before Country. And they don't even have that one right. Every time in our history that one party brought impeachment charges against the other party's President, the one initiating the charges won the next election.

Why am i not getting e-mails from Moveon and all the other groups that ask me to call the house and senate and take all these other actions that I do, when this is the most important action taken by the house in all these years. If you ask me! I am sorry, but too many laws have been broken with a big middle finger thrown in the face of the American people. Why has this not been reported on any of the major news programs today. So that tomorrow when it is all said and done and Americans have no idea what is happening in the house, after the vote, Cheney can pronounce - SO- see they don't give a sh*t. America is asleep while our democracy is being stolen out from under us. It is not just big media's fault- but I blame them first and foremost. Rupert Murdoch needs to be impeached too!

You are absolutely right!!!! The corporate owned media has been one of the biggest accomplices to the war crimes committed by the Bush cabal. Without their accomplices in the media, the war could not have taken place, given the raw set of facts at the time that showed the diplomacy and investigation teams of Hans Blitz had found no WMD. The most unasked question remains: what penalty should the media barons pay for being a traitor to this country????

Unfortunately MoveOn is playing the same game as Pelosi: playing it safe politically, don't rock the boat, let Bush hang himself. In the meantime, people die in Iraq, other folks get "enhanced interrogations," decent bills get vetoed, and video tapes get destroyed.

Congress and MoveOn: your choice of priorities is pathetic.

Yes, Dennis you are doing the right thing. As for the rest, they have failed the American people, the Constitution and their oath of office. Hey, Nancy do you hear me?

Dennis Kucinich: The TALLEST man in Congress!

Thank you, Dennis, for the enormous work you have done to present these Articles of Impeachment against Bush and against Cheney last year! Even though our cowardly, cowed House of Representatives will apparently refuse to act on these Articles, what you have done is to PUBLICLY STATE, FOR THE OFFICIAL HISTORICAL RECORD, that this President HAS committed impeachable crimes against this nation, violated his oath of office, and deserves to be removed from office! That, alone, is invaluable!

Rep. Wexler, unlike most of his colleagues, is to be also highly commended for standing with Kucinich! (I am disappointed that Obama has not done likewise!) As Jonathan Turly said tonight, history will record that Congress' lack of responsibility on this matter was "all politics, NO principle!"

WHY IS THIS STORY NOT THE HEADLINE OF THE HOME PAGE at HuffingtonPost, on every newspaper, on every TV news broadcast, and every "talking-head" show?

Congress will wish they HAD acted when Bush allows/initiates the planned joint U.S./Israeli air attack against Iran before this November! But what will he care? Won't be HIS problem anymore!

accountability for criminality is critical to America's standing in the future. If Pelosi and others don't see how important that is, then they are lacking the skills necessary to assess the impact of failing to confront these miscreants and don't deserve the office that they occupy.
I personally want to see Pelosi and a number of Democratic incumbents run out of office for newer Dems with the will to see these men taken to task. Sure, Impeachment may not be workable but there is no statute of limitations on murder and there is legal recourse to address the many egregious acts by these losers.

Can't he pardon preemptively, if he sees he shortly won't be able to? And then whoever is third or 4th on the line of succession pardons him, while he's on Air Force I heading to Crawford. I was only 9 at the time, but I do remember the steps to this dance.

All hypothetical anyway. It will not happen. The GOP somehow preempted the right to impeach a president for grave cause, by impeaching one for lying about his infidelity / complete bonehead lack of decorum/discretion. (Still can't quite figure that one out.) Kusinich and Wexler are at the bleeding edge of willing-to-crash-and-burn, and bless them for putting it on the line...but it ain't happening. I'd pay good $$$ to see Bush utterly ruined and disgraced, but have to wonder if impeachment during an election year could be anything but bad news on the Democratic Party's side. (Plus if things get really hairy, we are almost guaranteed some kind of "terrorist event"...)

How in the world could impeachment hearings be bad for the opposition party? Impeachment would be the best political move the Democrats could make. Non-stop revelations about the true evil of this administration, the exposure of the hellish inner workings of the Republican party.
Plus, it's just the right thing to do.

Write your Representatives!

Well, the House of Representative Clerk is presently reading thirty articles of impeachment on C-Span. They should have brought the charges of impeachment against those war criminals. Congressman John Conyers called for the impeachment but in order for him to head the Judiciary Committee he had to promise Nancy Pelosi he would not bring up impeachment against Bush.

Let's assume, for a moment, that the impeachment will actually get to the Senate.

How long does that take? I'm guessing that first there would be investigations, depositions, and testimony under oath to further "flesh out" the case against Bush & Cheney.

Also, most of that would probably be done by an impeachment committee while the "more important" things are being taken care of.

Does anybody have an ETA, best case/worst case, for getting this to the Senate?

I don't care if it takes until the day before the next president swears his oath of office-it is the only right thing to do.

Gerald Ford wimped out and pardoned Nixon so the nation could "heal". Does it occur to anyone that this message has been taken as an example by presidents for the last 30 years? Its time to send out the message-Not even the President is above the law.

I am not a proponent of capital punishment, but after watching this bunch of crooks for the last 7 years, I think I could be persuaded otherwise.

There is a larger point than Obama. It's the CONSTITUTION and ACCOUNTABILITY.

Our Republic is a stake unless those criminals are brought to justice regardless of the political cost.
