Martin Bashir Has Brain Tumor

As reported over the weekend by the UK's Daily Mail, British ABC reporter Martin Bashir — who famously interviewed Princess Diana in 1995 — has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. The New York Post reports the sad news of Bashir's brain tumor:

Martin Bashir - the British TV reporter who conducted headline-making interviews with Princess Diana and Michael Jackson before becoming an anchor for "Nightline" - has a brain tumor.

The tumor was discovered while he was being treated after banging his head on the Times Square studio set of the ABC late-night news show.

The tumor in his pituitary gland is small, according to reports, and doctors have no plans yet to remove it. He has returned to work since the discovery as doctors monitor its growth.

TVNewser reports ABC's official statement on Martin Bashir's brain tumor:

"An MRI scan recently discovered a small growth on Martin Bashir's pituitary gland. Bashir's doctors have advised that no immediate action be taken as they monitor the situation month to month. Bashir is feeling well as he continues to keep a full schedule anchoring and reporting for ABC News."

Comparing Kennedy and Bashir's tumors is ridiculous.

Bashir's tumor is likely benign and may not even need to be removed. It is not brain cancer and it is very common. He may or may not even need medication.

Kennedy's tumor is malignant and usually lethal.

I agree that it isn't as serious as Kennedy's tumor however even a benign tumor can wreck havoc on your body. His tumor is on the pituitary gland which can lead to Cushing's Syndrome amoung other things.

Seems like I'm hearing a lot more about people developing brain tumors lately - not just in the media, but a couple of people I know have been diagnosed withing the past year. Is medical science just getting better at detecting brain tumors or could all those rumors about cell phones causing tumors have some basis in fact?

Bashir nailed that child molester's ass to the wall with his report. Jackson got everything he deserved. Bashir is a hero. and if you knew anything about British liable laws you'd know that it doesn't cut it if its simply the truth. You can get sued for speaking the truth in Britain.
