Now that the Obama campaign has turned its focus towards the general election against John McCain, leading Democratic fundraisers are predicting that Obama's fundraising could skyrocket even higher than it already has. Specifically, some predict that he could raise $100 million in June:

Leading Democratic fundraisers predict that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few months if he opts out of public financing and begins raising money for the general election.

Specifically, they say Obama could raise $100 million in June and could attract 2.5 million to 3 million new donors to his campaign.

These fundraisers say Obama could increase his fundraising dramatically because of three factors: a boost of enthusiasm among Obama donors following his clinching of the nomination; the migration of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) donors to his camp; and the mobilization of big Democratic donors who have given little so far this year.

Record-breaking projections give Obama strong incentive to pass up $85 million in public funds that his opponent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), has said he would accept.

Check Huffington Post's Fundrace to see if your friends, neighbors, colleagues and even your boss are adding to Obama's potential $100 million haul.

My $600 stimulus check from Governor Bush is going directly to President Obama...

I sent $100 of mine already. I'd have sent more, but I spent it before I got it.

Me? I've given Obama $500 and I'd like to give more, but I'm holding off to see if Hillary is the VP. If that happens, I'll let the Obama campaign get the rest of their money from the Clinton pals. I don't think there is any chance that Hillary will be picked, but the option is being kept open . . .

I consider this as a wise investment for our future and that Obama is worth every penny to be the next president.

I contributed the max last night, and I told my husband he has to do the same thing. First for US ever. Our daughter's birthday is next week, and I will be contributing money in her name as a gift to her and her future. I have asked family and friends to do this instead of sending her a gift. Plus, I have a niece who has a b-day at the end of this month and 2 nephews with birthdays next month. I will also contribute to his campaign in their name. Although it may seem a little unconventional to some, it is an investment in their future.

just think if we used all that money for the poor people in our country.....
isn't it amazing it cost over 100 million dollars to get a job that makes $400,000 / yr.

i guess it's worth it if you get "special deals" from folks like rezko, or maybe you can sell a few pardons. Now THAT's where the money is!

He doesn't need it, he has been able to buy a $1.6 million house on a state legislator's salary.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he also a college law professor and has 2 award and has 2 best selling books too? And isn't his wife a working lawyer too? Having a 1.6 million dollar house doesn't seem like a stretch at all with all those revenue streams. Heck, where I live there are entire sections of town where you can't find a house worth less than a million, and we're considered a "middle class" suburb in NJ.

i live in a upper-middle class neighborhood where about 25% of the homes are in foreclosures. Directly across the main road is a first class lake front neighborhood where 25% of the homes are being gutted, and re-constructed inside out. These homes average $4 million dollars and 8,000 sq. ft.

for six months, my company has been overcharging certain clients whom we believe to be Republicans. With that money, we have been donating to the Obama campaign.

I moved to a little town north of N.Y.C
It's kind of upscale, witch is weird for me. I'm not exactly what somebody might call a Volvo driving, Latte drinking, kind of guy.
Anyway, here's the numbers

$77,735 from 29 people to Republicans
$161,095 from 156 people to Democrats

I F#@kin' Love it.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:59 AM on 06/10/2008

Hey, that's a great idea. Let's all push for everyone to give all or at least a portion of their stimulus check to the Obama campaign. Spread the word if you are on other blogs. Somebody YouTube it. This can work. I just got my stimulus check yesterday. I'm going to set aside a good portion of it for Obama. Get the word out.

I too will supplement my meager regular donations with a larger chunk out of my stimulus check.

wait wait wait now. lets not get ahead of ourselves. u should give some and save some. at least pay off one credit card debt and treat yourself to a small treat.

it was my goal to give to obama the night of every win. now, that the primary race is over, one donation a month should suffice.

We ARE starving folks in America thanks to the last 8 years.. so if you want a dem in the white house instead this is how it is done here. Because the republicans and the corporations and the news have a ton of $$$$. I also send $ periodically since he does not accept from the other side.

That's my reasoning as well MizLiz. I try to give as much as I can, when I can, no matter how little it may be, it seems there are millions of us doing the same thing.

You are so wrong. We have got to stop not checking out programs and people and politicians in America. People just go by memory or something. In past here I have put scarce foods, jobs resources in U.S. I recently did an update of more Church food places closing down. I give you web addresses and googles so you can see for yourselves the scarce foods, shelters, job resources in America. Other cities no Welfare and Welfare time limits remember? Shorttime shelters too even at Churches. If you type FreePrintShop.or and select English Free Eats Chart then you will see scarce food, shelter, job resources. If you Google Churches in Berkeley and Oakland Emergency meals then you will see scarce foods, shelters, jobs resources in these cities. If you Google Sacramento Community Resources and select Food and Shelter then you will get scarce food, shelters, jobs resources in Sacramento,Ca. If you check out Loaves and Fishes in Contra Costa county you will see they are the only group giving meals five days a week. Why not food on weekends. We must show compassion.

Send money to Al Franken to get rid of Norm Coleman and the Jim Slattery for Senate in Kansas and get rid of Pat Roberts (remember the intelligence committee chairman?) who's already gotten 12 times more money from high rollers like Koch Industry (can you say owner of all pipelines in the country) than Slattery has collected...ane any other democratic candidate trying to unseat a republican. Start sending some of your money directly to campaigns of democratic candidates for senator so you won't keep reading headlines like the one of HuffPo right now about the thugs blocking the oil tax bill today. Folks, think locally too if you are thinking in reality terms because without the senate behind him no matter how engaging and energizing Obama is, he "aint' gonna" change the minds of the lockstep republican senators if they are still there and we are at least 10 short of blocking filibusters and 17 short of veto proof if McCain wins. Icing with no cake to hold it up is a lousy dessert :^).

I've been saying for weeks that the earthquake has hit, and now the Republicans are going to feel the tidal wave. I'm now up to 133 new voters registered in the last 5 weeks, and I'm only one of hundreds of thousands of volunteers in all 50 states getting out the vote, and the enthusiasm is astounding. I've urged them all to go to Obama's website and make small donations if they can.

This is People Power in action, and the Republicans know what they're in for. Just look in their eyes when they come on TV and talk tough and bravely. Carly Fiorina is particularly amusing. She's McCains senior advisor, and if she advises him like she ran HP, it ought to be a cakewalk. All the Republican "strategists" have that knowing look in their eyes. It's funny as hell watching those clowns.
