Now that the Obama campaign has turned its focus towards the general election against John McCain, leading Democratic fundraisers are predicting that Obama's fundraising could skyrocket even higher than it already has. Specifically, some predict that he could raise $100 million in June:

Leading Democratic fundraisers predict that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few months if he opts out of public financing and begins raising money for the general election.

Specifically, they say Obama could raise $100 million in June and could attract 2.5 million to 3 million new donors to his campaign.

These fundraisers say Obama could increase his fundraising dramatically because of three factors: a boost of enthusiasm among Obama donors following his clinching of the nomination; the migration of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) donors to his camp; and the mobilization of big Democratic donors who have given little so far this year.

Record-breaking projections give Obama strong incentive to pass up $85 million in public funds that his opponent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), has said he would accept.

Check Huffington Post's Fundrace to see if your friends, neighbors, colleagues and even your boss are adding to Obama's potential $100 million haul.

Meanwhile, on page 37 of this website is the news that Dennis Kucnich introduced articles of impeachment against Bush.

Obama/Kucinich '08

He always does what is right.

I like the ticket of Obama/Kucinich.

Dennis would give great pause to those who would consider doing harm to Obama. President Kucinich would indeed carry on Obama's good works and then some.

So much for HRC's repeated RFK comments.

Obama/Kucinich 08'!!!

Okay, Campaign Alert speech.. John McCain just said on the stump.. "He will VETO every BEER"..
than corrected himslef.. "Bills with Earmarks".. I have to tell you it was the funniest thing to hear and I suppose being and elitist married to a beer fortune - I suppose he does have beer on his mind.. after all - it is his beer winner- I mean bread winner..

meanwhile he is fighting with his mike to stay up as his robotic arms keep knocking it down.. too funny again... (never a leadership quality)

Too FUNNY..FUNNY...FUNNY,,,, - watch for it across the news stations or more likely the late-night talk shows host will have a hey-day with this.. It was the most interesting part of his speech..

Barack Obama is a shoe-in..

I'm donating today as I have all primary season..
Yes..WE...Can..

I'd rather talk about McCain's policies than his pratfalls.

Really, Obama does not want or need to win this thing based on McCain's packaging/marketing problems. or ad hominem attacks.

Also -- I really hate to hear people make fun of McCain's arm movements. HE CAN'T LIFT HIS ARMS BECAUSE OF PERMANENT DAMAGE FROM BEING TORTURED AS A POW.

I know your heart is in the right place, but we can be Obama warriors and keep to a high road. (I think our candidate would prefer this.)

Obama can win this with his own positives, anyway. Character, intelligence, thoughtfulness, policies...

Just like McCain can lose with his lack of character, ill-telligence, un-thoughtful policies ... you get the idea.

Well, in all fairness, McCain isn't the most thoughful person with the pushing of the whole "Hamas wants Obama to be President" smear, or the flippant "why not a 100?" Can't really blame people for being angry at the guy and enjoying his awkwardness. I see your point though. It's wonderful Obama tries so valiantly to stay above it, I don't fault some of his supporters for bringing the snark though.

in the spirit of WE THE PEOPLE having the collective "voice" which dictates policy and agenda in our government now that the DNS is not accepting lobby/PAC donations i will begin spliting my monthly/weekly donations into thirds - i emplore you all to do the same...

example:

$50 - barack obama: www.barackobama.com

$25 - DNC: http://www.democrats.org/

$25 - www.moveon.org (or) your favorite fact-based news site . . . i.e. www.crooksandliars.com / www.counterpunch.org, etc... etc... etc... (whatever works for you, of course)

i urge you to do a 2-way split between the obama campaign and the DNC regardless.

Good plan, but I am not donating to the DNC until I am sure HRC does not steal the nomination in Denver.

After that I'm giving the DNC as much as I can.

There is no way for her to get the nomination at this point.

The DNC needs the money now.

BTW---O's refusal to allow the DNC to accept PAC and lobbyist money affects only about one to three per cent of the donations.

"DNC" not "DNS"

sorry trollies

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:24 AM on 06/10/2008

Agreed. I stopped donating to the DNC a while ago. But when Obama said DNC wasn't going to accept lobbying money, I decided I'd donate again. Splitting the regular Obama donation is a good way to do it.

I think BHO should just start issuing doctrines and policies, and start being president NOW. He can get some big movements already going and in gear. Will eat up some of this dead time between now and the election. Get a head start on the massive tasks ahead. Start acting presidential, kick start some reforms and movements now, steal all of bussshs thunder, relegate McCain as irrelevant, get some good done.
Nobody in this country wants to do ONE MORE task on behalf of buush, so BHO should start the opposition govt. NOW.

That's an interesting thought. He could start meeting world leaders and inviting them to informal summits and sending delegates around the world. Most of the rest of the world would like to see him already.

There is a lot of merit in what you say, Dick. But there is also the possibility that too much effort spent in this 'early start' would take away from the task of winning in the first place. McCain may seem an irrelevant joke, at best, to many of us, but many of our fellow Americans would disagree. I know that Obama is already working on initiatives and projects for after the election, but I hope he will devote himself to the task at hand, winning the Presidency, between now and November.

Interesting idea. Didn't Edwards try to get some sort of public service activity started when he was running (this time around)?

Also, I think it is very important for Obama to get out on the world stage and be photographed with some foreign leaders. Americans could see for themselves what he would look like as President, rather than having to imagine it!

Geeze let's give the guy a day or two to get out the starting gate LOL. I have all the faith in the world that Obama and his campaign people know what they are doing. They did after all manage to win the nomination. Sen. Obama had to jump out the gate and make a stand regarding foreign policy , he can not afford to allow McCain to do what republicans have always done which is make the country believe they are the only ones who can keep the country safe. McCain feels anything military related is his turf, Obama can't allow that. I heard the next two weeks on the stump will be dedicated to economic issues.

He may still take federal financing (which ain't chump change...$84M) so I say, if you haven't reached your $2300 max for the Primary election, STILL GIVE TO THE PRIMARY!

YOu have until August! He still needs Primary money to slam McCain from now until August.

That is indeed a lot of money. But when it's distributed amongst his donor base of roughly 2 million people it amounts to about 50$ per person. I say it's a sound and necessary investment in the promise of American democracy and the expansion of citizenship, and which is a lot more than pulling a lever or ticking a box every four years.

I am French and have been following your campaign extremeley closely since early 2007.

I supported this candidate from very early on and sent him 15 $, unaware that federal law restricts political donations from non us citizen.

A few days later, I got a call from a campaign aide asking for my US passport number.

I must have sounded very stupid when I told her I was french, but she thanked me anyway and wished me the best.

My husband says that we're upping our monthly donation. After seeing the foolishness that the GOP's trying to put out there, we've gotta send as much as possible. Anything left over will help with the rest of the congressional elections. I can't wait for the Dems to have a majority in both houses.

I can scent the hope and feel the change coming in this country. I am a regular Obama supporter in small amounts and will continue to be so. I will also do what I can by way of volunteering after the convention. Chris Matthews compared this election to the sinking of the Titanic on Morning Joe. He said the the voyagers still thought the Titanic was protective, big and warm so many didn't get on the life boats. Of course the Titanic went down. Matthews was saying if we don't want our country to sink this Fall, get on the lifeboat with Barack Obama and save ourselves and our nation.
