Now that the Obama campaign has turned its focus towards the general election against John McCain, leading Democratic fundraisers are predicting that Obama's fundraising could skyrocket even higher than it already has. Specifically, some predict that he could raise $100 million in June:

Leading Democratic fundraisers predict that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) will raise hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few months if he opts out of public financing and begins raising money for the general election.

Specifically, they say Obama could raise $100 million in June and could attract 2.5 million to 3 million new donors to his campaign.

These fundraisers say Obama could increase his fundraising dramatically because of three factors: a boost of enthusiasm among Obama donors following his clinching of the nomination; the migration of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) donors to his camp; and the mobilization of big Democratic donors who have given little so far this year.

Record-breaking projections give Obama strong incentive to pass up $85 million in public funds that his opponent, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), has said he would accept.

Check Huffington Post's Fundrace to see if your friends, neighbors, colleagues and even your boss are adding to Obama's potential $100 million haul.

$100 million dollars in June, alone?....Good. Because he will need every dime that he raises to fight the Republican slime machine and their army of dutiful propagandists within certain segments of the media.

There is no way that McCain and the GO can match this. The Dems will finally get a cash advantage for the general.

Its standard now that a portion of my biweekly paycheck goes to Obama campaign. So 100 million dollars I will definitely do my part.

Sad but true. I think people are starting to get wise to the GOP's dirty tricks though. Like Bush did with McCain, I think it'd be funny if they said Obama fathered a black child.

They are definitely more wise to it. I'm surprised that it has taken this long, though. I've been witness to it since the Nixon - McGovern race in '72. But it reached a despicable level with George Herbert Walker Bush's campaign against Dukakis in '88 and hasn't let up since.

Obama is doing the right thing when he attempts to inoculate the electorate against the inevitable Republican slurs, lies, and deceptions that will propagate through the MSM in this election. And the Obama camp must be ever vigilant and come down hard whenever and wherever any such nonsense surfaces.

I'm happy to hear this, im broke as a joke but i try to donate a decent amount each month. When we win in the fall i know it will have been worth it, bringing the power back to the people is money well spent imho.

There are fringe psychos hillaryis44.comm) and the project chaos nonsense, but nothing can stand in the way of so much positive energy after 8 years of despair. We will vote for the candidate who will deliver the day when one of the most wealthy nations can again stand on even ground in all respects with it's brother and sister nations. Our rankings in health, poverty, employment, wealth distribution etc are dismal, but this race has renewed my belief in this country and its people. Theres a much brighter day just around the next corner.

When you are retired, and locked in to a specific income, this election year is the most important one since 1932. Make no mistake, we are on the brink of a Great Depression as we experienced in 1893 and 1929.

This nation was formed by Oligarchs who were initially property owners and agrarian leaders. The first Gilded Age was the megawealthy of the industrial age. These individuals were made part of the social set- the Yankee Brahmins and the Southern Patrician Planter class.

It took an uncle and nephew, one Republican and one Democrat, to become " traitors to their Knickerbocker social elites" and made a middle class possible. They stopped the road to fascism and probably inhibited a communist revolution of the masses thrown to their knees by these gluttonous and greedy corporatists.

It will be the responsibility of a bi-racial styled AA with impeccable intellect and credentials and a populist philosophy to again destroy a second Gilded Age.....this one international andglobal rather than solely nationalistic in scope.

I still worry about Wilma Womyn and Bubba and Bubbette who are poised to vote against Obama and for McCain....not because he is the Whoremaster for the Oligarchs but because he is not Obama. Roe defeated and a massive depression aside, these are scorpions willing to sting themselves to death.

I fear thatthe October Surprise is an attack on Iran....and the final Bush gift to his Corporatist Masters and a nation he can hand over tothem permanently.

This is why Obama can run his 50-state program. McCain is going to have about $100 million to spend between now and the election. Obama will probably have about $400 million.

If Obama spends $10 million in Texas, it will force McCain to respond. Obama may not win in Texas, but McCain can't campaign in Ohio if he is losing his biggest state. Obama also knows that Texas provided several big House victories for the Democrats in 2006, and Sen. John Cornyn is in a tight race for re-election there.

Meanwhile, Obama is making up ground in traditionally Republican states like Indiana and Virginia. During the primaries, even when he lost states like Texas and Pennsylvania, his cash advantages kept things closer than you would have expected. This means that Obama will make McCain really work for key states and even flip a few unexpected ones. McCain is going to have to real make every penny count.

You are right. The SC poll that came out yesterday has McCain ahead by 9%. I was shocked that he isn't ahead by 29%. SC is solidly Republican, but Obama has energized the Dem vote here. Who knows how close he can make it in SC. Bush won SC by around 20 pts. Who knows what states will turn from red to blue this year.

It is worth noting that the margins of victory for the Clinton campaign only got bigger when Obama stopped spending buttloads of money on a primary fight he was going to win anyway. You heard it here first; no one in the media, including Keith Olbermann, has yet figured this out. There is a reason Obama has loads of money in the bank, while Clinton is (up to) $30 million in the hole.

I would love to finally see the Democrats pay attention to Texas. I'm a life-long Texan, and until our Democratic primary in March, I've never seen Texas receive that kind of attention. The Democrats at the national level have repeatedly written this state off, and that has been a serious mistake.

What people don't know is that most Texans are not the Bible-thumping wingnuts people make us out to be. Make no mistake, we have them here (mostly in very small towns), but most Texans are more reasonable than that. I think if the Democrats started focusing more on Texas, they'd be very surprised (and we can hopefully get the stench of Bush off of us). Obama may not take Texas, but he could make it very close and make McSame work hard here.

The strategy is to spend a lot of time in the large urban areas of Houston and Dallas, where the moderate Republicans live. Austin is in the tank for Obama, the Dems could do well in San Antonio and the people in El Paso and the Valley will go with whoever the Democratic nominee is.

I predict Obama will be spending a lot of time here because of the Cornyn and Lampson races. As an Afghanistan vet and member of the National Guard, he is a GREAT candidate against Cornyn. Our other senator has already announced she is not running again in 2010. She already knows what direction this is all headed.

the idea is to get out ALL the voters so the democratic ticket does well from the bottom up!.

here is the major difference in Obama and the clintons.

clintons ONLY cared about certain states to win electorial vote.

Obama wants ALL the states in play to help all THE dems on down the line!.

thats why the supers ALL broke for him.

I'm a Texan as well, but I have to disagree with you on a couple of points. He's going to have a tough time with the Hispanic people in San Antonio and El Paso. Alot of Hispanics choose to vote against their own interests when it comes to Obama. My hubby's family is in El Paso and they're all voting for McCain even if it bites them in the ass come '09. They don't care. They just say that Obama is about big government and raising their taxes. I just laugh b/c I'm like he's not raising your taxes b/c you don't make that type of money. We just moved from San Antonio and I can tell you the Hispanic people there have a problem with Barack's color and they prefer Hillary. They will say it's just because she has more experience and when we have a spirited discussion over that, they can't come up with any other reason why they just can't vote for Barack. So I know it's his color. Why would you vote for McCain when he stands for absolutely everything that you do not?

This is why I got behind Obama when Edwards withdrew. Obama has been turning out people in states that previous Democratic campaigns wrote off us unwinable. Democratic triangulation has resulted in their going on the defensive, relieving republicans of the need to defend their home turf and and allowing them to go on the offensive in swing states like Florida, Ohio and others.

The Democrats have the financial advantage this time. The best defense is a good offense. Make republicans defend Virginia, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Colorado, Montana and Nevada and others. Hell, if he made Janet Napolitano his VP, mcnutjob might even have to fight in Arizona.

This is not just an election for the White House, it is an election for 435 House seats, a third of the Senate, and thousands of state office. Just because the Democrats don't win the electoral college in a state doesn't mean there aren't other prizes worth pursuing there. We are approaching the next census, and it would be nice to improve our position in as many states as possible before we redistrict again.

Actually she raised what would have been a huge record breaking amount of money for a primary campaign. It only seems to you like she didn't raise much because Obama raised even more.
The fund raising done by both Dem candidates has the Republicans shitting in their pants.
If Hillary did not have to compete with Barack for the nomination she would have won easily and vice versa.

It is a good problem for the Democrats to have had.

She did raise a significant amount of money; however, the question is from whom? Obama should stay away from the fat cats and concentrate on those Americans who support his cause and not the special interests and corporatists that dominate most of the American political landscape.

I'll continue to give him money unless he starts following the Clinton model of campaign finance. I think a lot of other contributors think the same way.

Also, I would hope that Obama attacks McCain on the issues and stays away from personal attacks, regardless of what McCain does.

She had 18 million votes but how many attended her concession speech on Saturday? Only a couple thousands! Hillary has the habit of exaggereating her positives and ignoring her negatives. Her spins and lies are legendary. Acting as if 18 million votes are 18 million VOTERS for her alone is disingenious. Hillary's using and clinging to the gender divide turned off lots of women of all ages but Hillary has nothing else to argue her case. The Clintons just couldn't accept their loss. Let's see if they work hard for Democrat's win in November or still keep their eyes on 2012 with the delusional idea that they had 18 mil voters in their pockets.
