The reconciliation process between the upper echelons of the Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns has already begun, as advisers and fundraisers look for areas of commonality in a somewhat disjointed party.

Three Clinton negotiators - all confidantes of the Senator and her husband - have been dispatched to Chicago to spearhead this effort, a source told The Huffington Post. Bob Barnett, a powerhouse Washington lawyer, Cheryl Mills, another lawyer, and Minyon Moore, a political consultant, were meeting today to discuss three key areas of negotiations: what role Hillary Clinton will play at the Democratic convention in August, the nature of her involvement in Obama's general election campaign, and the Obama campaign's plans to help alleviate her campaign debt, which is believed to be around $30 million.

Such plans seemed expected. What may be more interesting, the source adds, is the B-matter. For starters, the Obama campaign is pining to reap the benefits of Clinton's large-scale fundraising apparatus. A meeting, as reported by Greg Sargent at Talking Points Memo, has been scheduled for this Thursday in Manhattan, with the New York Times estimating that some $50 million to $75 million could be on the table for Obama.

The big loot that remains to be raised by the Hillraisers, however, seems likely destined for the Democratic National Committee, whose coffers are in need of repletion. Individuals are allowed to donate $28,500 to the DNC - which is coordinating efforts with Obama - as opposed to $2,300 to the Obama campaign. Obama has begun organizing joint fundraising ventures on the party's behalf.

The most potentially sensitive matter in the negotiations may very well be about how to handle Clinton's high-profile political supporters. According to a source with knowledge of the Clinton campaign's machinations, there is concern among some members of Congress, particularly those in the Congressional Black Caucus, that Obama won't aggressively support their reelection efforts because of their alliances with Clinton. A few black House members fear primary challenges.

"These members are already facing some heat for backing [Clinton]," said a source close to the New York Democrat's campaign. "But that has been going on for a while. In some place in these negotiations between the Clinton and Obama campaigns, there will be a discussion of them providing not just economic help but moral support. That will be limited to the places where they have primaries."

"I'm sure," said the source, "that [Clinton] is saying, 'Please do what you can to make sure that the people supporting me aren't punished."

Weren't the Clinton people complaining that Obama wasn't tough enough? You don't get a Illinois State Senate Seat out of Chicago without being tough. You surely don't get elected US Senator from Illinois without being a player. So people saying he doesn't have experience must realize that a few years in Illinois is like a couple years in US Congress from other states. There are big interest in Illinois and Sen. Obama would never have made it to Senate unless people knew he could deliver. .

Many Black politicians supported Sen. Clinton, and rightfully so at the beginning, as he was a very untested candidate. However as he won particualer states, those delegates should have been cognizant of their vote. Now it is hard to break from the original candidate you supported, and I am sure Sen. Obama knows this. So I doubt there will be punishment, but he should let a few squirm, and he should make sure they align with his plans and ideals for the party. Any of those candidates that are ineffective, or if there is an insurgent who is more in step with Sen. Obama's plans, then the incumbent should be worried.

Their is Change in the Air!

If Clinton would release her delegates as John Edwards did, I'm sure it would go a long way toward reconciliation - and help for those who supported her.

Now we get to see if she really meant what she said Saturday.

History will judge her by her actions - not by her words.

Bingo 2!! That's what I want to see. Read Dick Morris' column on this very issue (drudge report link). I don't think 18 million people are going to vote against the DEMOCRATIC AGENDA just because they're upset Hillary lost the Dem nom. And let's don't forget many, many of those people voted for Clinton because they didn't think OBAMA could win the general. I changed my party affiliation from Repub to Dem so I could caucus for Obama. I'm going to cast my vote for him in Nov just like the rest of my Repub relatives.

Ted Kennedy was directing Hillary back to the senate before the primaries ended. I'm sure that is where the party leaders will stear her as well.

This is bullcrap. The question was not, will violence decrease if we send more troops. The question was is escalating our position in the best interest of Americans and Iraqis.

Is it possible our presence is the cause of violence and we can decrease it by surging or by leaving.

It is stupid to evaluate an action without considering its economic and social costs and to assume that the same results were not acheivable with an opposing strategy.

Just imagine how much violence and death and distruction would have been avoided if we had not gone to Iraq to begin with. It is sickening behond comprehension to contemplate.

Hello? There are human beings whose lives have been destroyed, ended, up-ended, tortured. All this political talk and calculation does nothing to bring back those lives.

Your position cannot be stated enough or with sufficient volume to even approach the human tragedy that is taking place.

When will the tribalism the - human tribalism stop? When will we stop calling each other names in order to justify killing each other?

That guy is a "this" so I can kill him. That other guy is a "that" so we have to kill him. That girl is a "something" so we can rape her and enslave her. W-H-A-T? kind of thinking is this?

It is so so sad a state of affairs. Women, children, no one should be named, targeted, and destroyed in the name of anything.

Why doesn't Rush Limbaugh hold a telethon to help pay off Hillary Clinton's debts? It's time for the Operation Chaos crowd to put their money where their mouths are and donate to Hillary to show they support women!

Did she...misrepresent...her campaign's internet donations the past month?

I don't understand in any way how she supposedly raised $10 million overnight but is now $30 million in debt. (?)

I know she loaned her campaign $11 million at interest, and had $10 million in debt prior to that. That was only a month ago.

Then she said they raised $10 million overnight. Where did it all go? Why does she NOW owe THIRTY Million dollars?

I thought FEC laws kept all this accurately disclosed every month. What's going on?

(More to the point, as an Obama supporter, I'm willing to help pay off her CAMPAIGN debt. I'm not willing to pay off high interest on her personal loan....big bonuses to Penn, Ickes, etc....or more donations to the Clinton Family Fund for their personal use. Will we get to see what this money is actually going for?)

She was raising and spending money in the last few months as she continued the race, I'm sure that's how the debt accrued... I, for one, donated to her yesterday and will continue to do so.

She also has 29 million in funds donated for the GE. However, those funds will be refunded to the donors unless she can get permission to use it to pay off her primary debts.

You can see both campaigns finances here, but it is only thru april.

Bill had his heart set on being First Man. Well, time to move on and show that Bill is not really the "first black president" as claimed. If Bill wants to save his legacy, then the best thing he can do is to put his ego behind him and work for the good of the party. I advise all of us to do this because our system of constitutional government is threatened by the secrecy and unitary executive theory. McCain will be worse than Bush in every way. He is not a "Maverick." He voted for the Bush party line 95% of the time and dumped a disabled wife. He changed religions from Episcopalian to Baptist to pander further. He is bank rolled by a beer queen and raised by militarists. My wife has a bunch of Bill Clinton autographed photographs from when she worked for him. She wants to throw them all out. She still has her RFK mementos from 1968 which she treasures. She is a charter member of NOW so it isn't just my male ego. Ladies, we need your help! Let's move the ball up the field.

I seriously doubt that Bill will move his little finder to help Obama.
He's not first Man, he's certainly not First Gentleman & he's got going to be first : Anything, except maybe first bitter Curmudgeon.
He's very cagey when he spouts off -
(like saying that thing about Jesse Jackson & Obama, with a sneaky smile, there's always a degree of sarcasm or manipulation with ol' Bill)
- & I think his saying "this is the last campaign thing" I'll be doing etc., is the "out" he was hinting at.
