Arizona May Be A Swing State

Sen. John McCain's big struggle to energize a suspicious conservative Republican base and attract crucial independent voters is a national fight that encompasses his home state of Arizona. Despite representing the state in Congress for 26 years, McCain is now confronting a resurgent state Democratic Party and a burgeoning number of unpredictable independent voters.

While Arizona Republicans are bogged down with nasty infighting and a slumping number of registered voters, Arizona Democrats are gaining voters daily. Powered by Sen. Barack Obama's voter registration drive, Democratic voter registration is up 2.8 percent in the last year and Democrats are poised to gain control of a majority of the state's House congressional delegation for the first time in decades.

McCain put a stain on Arizona with the MLK holiday votes. And now he possibly can't win his own state. The media is inflating McCain to keep the narrative going, he will be decimated in Nov.

How do you get a 51% disapproval rate in your own state and still have a job?

It will be a landslide for Obama. America has had 8 long years, and McCain is just a continuation of Bush!

Wouldn't that be a kick in McCain's wrinkled bottom to lose in his own state? Dems would be wise to build up a great network in Arizona...

McLame is done for, i wager he takes less that 10 states, possibly 5, and he loses by at least 55 to 45, and it would really be a treat if he garners less than 40, which i think is possible if enough people open their minds to the truth.

Someone said this election is going to be a landslide either way I dont agree. Its either going to be a landslide for Obama or a close win for McCain. I'm sorry but I just cannot imagine McCain winning anything by a landslide. Yes he can win but by a landslide I just dont see it. McCain has got a lot of problems his policies are NOT intuned with the average American and he is too connected to Bush not to mention the fact that he has been in Washington for decades. I just think this is not an economy that favors him or a war that favors him.

I'm really not convinced that Ax.elrod and Pl.ouffe believe that AZ is a swing state, and I don't necessarily believe that a 50-state strategy holds the intentions of competing in 50 states. This is a matter of strategy. As Ob.ama may very well have over $1/4 billion to play with, I think their intentions are to make the GOP goaltend out of concern.

I do believe that O has a reasonable chance to take IN, MO, MI, CO, NM, NC and GA, but I think they're pushing to 50-state to ensure that GOP is spread ultra-thin, disallowing a heavy concentration in these areas. They may have to choose to hit OH, FL and PA hard, but they may be doing so at their peril, as I don't believe they're going to be able to grab OH and PA - give them FL. With resources going to FL in massive amounts, these other swings become open territory.

It's a brilliant strategy if it works.

Final tally? 324-214 Obama.

OH will be tough, but the energy and enthusiasm for barack with young people here is vast. We have been and will continue to strive to educate the public and even up the tally in ohio at the very least, if we deliver ohio that would be fantastic.

Im from chicago, where i know my vote would have contributed to a landslide victory, but here in ohio i think my voice and my vote go further becuase there are so many un-decided voters open to new ideas. we all have to work on this one and its amazing because its actually happening.

Remember Tailhook?

That was the scandal that arose out of the actions of a bunch of Navy fliers directed towards their female counterparts in which the female aviators were subjected to verbal harassment and physical abuse.

Anyone know what McNasty's reaction to Tailhook was?

Seems like the kind of guy who would think it was good, clean fun.

Arizona along with a big chunk of the Southwest would go Democrat if Senator Obama picked Governor Janet Napolitano as a running mate, imho.

She was supporting Senator Obama before super Tuesday (the first one).

With McCain's unfavorables pilling up every day,his age and known bad temper coupled with the continuing Bush and GOP scandals, this could just be the "perfect storm"! I smell a Big Democratic Sweep!

Arizona will be a swing state allright - right into the Obama camp! Thank God these people think for themselves, rather than listening to the Republican drivel!

This doesn't surprise me...MCcain has thrown his first wife under a bus, by cheating on her and finding a younger, richer model in Cindy after the poor woman was in an accident and not as pretty anymore. After all of the waiting she did while he was a POW, putting her life on hold and raising kids and being the good little wifey waiting at home, she didn't look good enough to him, and he wanted someone pretty enough to show off as a rich trophy. That is dispicable, MCcain is nothing but an opportunist with no morals!! Barack has principals and moral values. He would never do that to Michele. Watch what people do more than what they say. McCain is also too old to be president. He seems mentally not up for the job., disoriented and an OLD early 70's. He gave up what few principals he used to claim that he had to use Bush's playbook. We don't need a Bush third term!! I am a former Hillary supporter, but Barack Obama is our ONLY choice. OBAMA 08!

THE REDEMPTION CARD

Soon, the Obama camp will begin a shadow campaign to play the "redemption card" on Arizona. They will insinuate that Arizona has an opportunity to redeem itself for not having a Martin Luther King holiday for so many years, by simply voting for Obama.

McCain will lose his own state, and no one will be able to say or do anything about it without being labeled a racist.

McCain, you are screwed on this one, my friend.
