LOS ANGELES — Rodney King will appear in the next installment of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew."

The show features famous people dealing with drug and alcohol problems aided by celebrity addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky.

King, whose 1991 beating by Los Angeles police led to deadly rioting the next year, prompting him to make a famously earnest plea for peace, will appear with actor Jeff Conaway, former Guns 'N Roses drummer Steven Adler, Rod Stewart's son Sean and actress Tawny Kitaen.

The new season is slated to premiere in October, the network said Tuesday.

This is what Howard Stern wrote in his book "Private Parts" (soft cover edition) about Rodney King:
"They didn't beat this idiot enough. He should be beaten everytime he reaches for his car keys."

*Dear Huffington Post*,

Rodney King is NOT A CELEBRITY. He was the victim of a heinous beating by duly appointed Police Officers of The Los Angeles California Police Department that was memorialized on video tape. Those same police officers were found Not Guilty by a jury of His Peers in Simi Valley California despite video evidence that disproved the sworn testimony of the Police Officers. The verdict exposed the inequities in the American system of Justice for African Americans and the Poor. The resulting Riots were catastrophic.

No indeed, Mr King is NO CELEBRITY. His tale and fate should not be chronicled in anyones Entertainment section. For whatever you think of him or whatever torrid details you choose to define him; His shortcomings, drug abuse, his lack of education or his run ins with the legal system. He is a living reminder of the tragedy that is the cardinal sin of our nation that conscientious Americans constantly struggle to Right.

Squeezing Rodney King in between evidence of Jennifer Anniston's happiness and the New SMURF Movie belittles and minimizes Mr. Kings story and the collective struggle and responsibility we all have.

I totally agree - why are people so mean about this man? He was beat down by many police officers - no matter what he did or what threat he was at the moment it was overkill and systematic of the abuses of the police in our country.

I am actually on the side of the police but when they abuse the system they discredit all the honest officers out there who do a very hard job.

Uhh dude. Rodney King has consented to be on a show called Celebrity Rehab. The key word here is consented. It's not like he was beaten repeatedly in order to go, so Huffpost is just reporting a fact.

Didn't he molest somebody on a red carpet a few months ago? Maybe he blames it on brain damage from his motorcycle accident (No I won't wear a helmet and you can't make me).

Rodney King. This guy was a walking crime wave and now he is broke and stupid. Before he was rich and stupid. Now all he has is a 10 year old suit and....he's still stupid. You can't fix stupid folks.

Even if he's stupid he didn't deserve the over reaching police beating he received. People like you are no better than this Bush administration with their torture policies.

Enough of this "Celebrity Rehab" crap.

Now where can I find more about "Celebrity Foreclosures"?
