"Countdown" Beats "O'Reilly Factor" In Ratings Demo For First Time Ever

MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" beat Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" in the key Adults 25-54 demographic for the first time ever last week.

"Countdown" averaged 477,000 viewers (A25-54) vs. O'Reilly's 472,000 (excluding Tuesday's primary coverage). This marks the first time that MSNBC has beaten Fox News in O'Reilly's 8pm time slot since June 2001.

It's not meaningless. Olberman has come into his own and reports the news and does not bash Obama like everyone else out there. I think it's a huge step to have beaten 'The Factor'. I have not watched Billo in years; he's gross and just plain nasty.

which of course means you want your news slanted one way. Now true intelligence would dictate you would want the slanting both ways so you could make an informed judgement for yourself. That would mean not letting others make it for you. Now if your slanted a particular way and do not want to hear anything that disturbs that slant then by all means listen to those who say what you want to hear not to anything that might make you question yourself. Join a lovely lady relative of mine, in her eighties, who declared her party and slant when she was twenty-one and hasn't deviated from that straight ticket in sixty years. It's a comfortable way of not having to study and learn thru the years.

WesSmith, he did beat him in all areas, even their MSNBC repeat shows beat Fox News original show in all their evenings program. Fox is not a legitimate News show in most peoples opinion and talk about one sided. It appears that everyone working for Fox News couldn't get a job with a main stream Media. I like Olbermann but you are right. Both Fox and MSNBC are slanted to the right and left respectively. I have been watching Democracy Now for years. During the run up to the war and after, Democracy Now was one of the few news programs that gave you REAL news from outside the bubble! The info about the true nature of the Iraq war has always been there, you just had to know where to look.

Keith Olbermann ROCKS!!! I know it was only a matter of time before he starts crushing Billo in the ratings. MSNBC is the fastest growing cable news network and that's largely due to Keith's meteoric rise. This guy is simply phenomenal, he outclasses all the other talking heads on t.v. several times over. I've always been a big fan of Keith but I never imagined that he would balloon into the powerhouse that he is today in such short a time. This ratings win is an impressive achievement for Keith considering that MSNBC is not a universally carried network unlike fix news. Fox made their bets on Bush and they are paying the price as the Regime crumbles while MSNBC made its bets on America and they reaping the dividends as this country recovers (from the destruction of the Bush Regime).

update: I just watched Keith's Special Comment on John McCain. It was so powerful I almost cried. He totally handed it to the old man. I couldn't be happier. Keith is an American Hero.

The more regular folks watch Olbermann, the more they'll like the guy a lot more than O'Reilly. Unless you get your kicks from watching train wrecks and freak shows. Then I'd assume you'd enjoy O'Reilly quite a bit more.
