During an interview with Sen. John McCain on Monday's NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams noted that "the videotape clip of your comment about being in Iraq 100 years if need be, of course, is still kicking around," and then asked, "[G]iven your support for the surge and where you believe this nation is in Iraq today, where do you see it going and will your support be there for however many U.S. troops are required?"

McCain answered flatly: "Yes. And the fact is we are winning in Iraq."

Via the Jed Report, here's the video:

In a speech last month, McCain predicted that the Iraq war would be "won" by 2013, but his comment to Williams suggests that he'll continue to send U.S. soldiers into battle even if his prediction is wrong.

War is old men talking, and young men dying. And yes I did borrow it from a bumpersticker.

You know as much as this man diggs a deeper hole I am afraid this country is still going to vote for him.
I remember thinking there is absolutely no way this country will vote for Bush a second time.
And what did we do? Yup we voted against our self interest and now look where we are. I dont think we will vote Obama. I will but will the country? I just don't have the faith. You guys on this message board are smart enough but it will take more then just us.
I am so scared for my lovely USA.

There are more people who will vote if you join the GOTV campaign organized by barackobama.com and go out and get people to vote. Most older people will vote for those that they are familiar with. McCain is a brand name. They don't know his policy but as far as they know he is a good guy.

Obama is an unknown so they will not vote for him. It is up to us to educate the older folks and the blue collar workers who are too busy trying to earn a living and have no time reading up on the news of the day from the internet. They are the ones who needs to be educated on who those candidates are and their policies.

If they know what Obama is offering they will vote for him. If they don't know his policies then they will vote for the name that they recognize... McCain. Especialy since there are lots of smear campaign that cast doubts about Obama's patriotism and his religion and his inexperience.

It is up to Americans to educate other Americans so that we will have a government who is once again chosen by the people for the people and not by the voting machine for the rich.

Why are the major news media outlets ignoring the story about 58 bases in Iraq?

"the fact is we are winning in Iraq" ... The fact is ... John ... "no one cares". The voters have been saying since 2005 "get out of Iraq" ... republicans have lost both houses of congress ignoring what voters want. Now they stand to lose not only the presidency but their standing as the other majority party in the united states. Arrogance and stubborness and the mistaken idea that they can cram an unwanted war down americas throat are going to make republicans go the way of the Whig party republicans replaced.

1.) Just what is it we are winning in Iraq? Who will sit down with us and sign their terms of surrender?
2.) Most Americans don't want us in Iraq.
3.) The Iraqi government doesn't want us in their country. Have you been paying attention to the current U.S./Iraqi talks? Didn't think so.

Hell, the Iraqi government does not want us there either.........so let them have their country back because there is NO WAY we can even make it look like we won this war.................
Just another Vietnam Mac, what do you think about that?

Is the Bush Administration/Republican Party aligning itself with The Communist Party?

To me, they appear to be attempting a dictatorship:

..... removing Americans' personal rights and freedoms
..... invasion of privacy
..... decreasing educational benefits -- making post-secondary education harder to obtain [explains the pandering to "the lesser educated" -not my words, theirs]

And one thing Bush kept repeating about the benefit of illegal immigration: "They're willing to do the jobs that Americans won't." What jobs are those???

And why is the United States of America, formerly the most powerful nation in the world, formerly the most prosperous country in the world, formerly the most advanced country in the world, indebted to The Peoples Republic of China/The Communist Party of China in the TRILLIONS?

Is that what he was really up to?

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin D. Roosevelt, president of the United States from 1933 to 1945, described fascism in his 1942 "Message from the President of the United States Transmitting Recommendations Relative to the Strengthening and Enforcement of Anti-trust Laws" as follows:

The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.

If any grop has aligned itself with the communist/socialist parties it is the ultra left wing of the Democratic party. When asked by Brian Williams the question about troops in Iraq, and Mc Cain responds, how can you get "McCain Again Pledges To Send Unlimited US Troops To Iraq" out of it? This blog is worse that limbaugh for spinning stuff. This blod only has credibility with the radical neoComs. I find many who are writing on this blog to be delusional.

Shoot down that G.I bill to educate our vet's, because they might leave the military for better jobs! But, if Mccain thought he'd win that would be fine, so he can bring in the draft and blalme it onthe G.I bill that educated our loved ones more. So why didn't he vote the G.I. Bill? Because he don't think he has a snow ball chance in H### of winning this thing. I loved how he went along and laughed when one of his questioners called Hillary Clinton a B@#*&h, and than gave her all the compliments in the world, trying to win her supporters over. Become Hillary supporters do you really want some one who is as two face as that to be your next president?

Excuse me, just WHO are you saying is a SOB? If you are referring to FDR, when were you born? You probably never ever heard him personally speak. Don't take other peoples remarks and post them as your own. He was one of the most admired men, president's ever! Just for your information, THERE IS NO HUMAN BEING THAT IS PERFECT!!

This idiot McSame is sick. He will have soldiers and marines like my husband and brother killed in this stupid war, so that his name can be written in the history books as a president (if he gets it) who ended the war. As a Military man I would have expected more from him. He has no shame! He loves only himself and is ambitious beyond reason!

Notice when McSame is asked if he still supports this war he only replies with one word, "yes". Oh how they want to down play his support of this war without flipflopping. Without being torn to sheds. "Yes", he says. "Do you still support this war?" "Yes". Oh, "yes". And then on to blather about defeat. Hey, pops. We already have been defeated in Iraq. We lost. L-O-S-T ... before we began. But still you support "the war." Fool.

McCain reveals a childish mentality every time he talks about "victory", "winning the war","completing the mission", etc. Iraq is not, nor has it been a war! It has been and is, an outrageous invasion by a powerful nation against a small rich nation governed by a maniac. No different from a well armed criminal bursting into someone's home, killing as many as possible and stealing the furniture!
