Al Gore

The always colorful former Clinton aide James Carville said on CNN today that he thinks Barack Obama should choose former vice president Al Gore as his VP. He argued that Gore would be the right candidate for combating the biggest problem facing the nation: oil consumption.

I think Carville is a Republic Party mole.

Carville. Listen up. Al Gore doesn't need your help. He has a JOB. Perhaps you should get a real one after your extremely inappropriate, egocentric, (how many horrible adjectives can I come up with here?), inappropriate, misinformed, STUPID, comments during this year's campaign. Bob Dole would put it this way, "Go back into your LSU football, southern Louisiana cave" with your outdated, over the top, smarmy wife who is just like you. You were once entertaining, but now you are embarrassing. No offense, Al Gore. I think you would be great VP, but you have shown the Clintons that you have class. You rose above the Carvilles, the Clintons, the Supreme Court, Katherine Harris (shiver...). You won in 2000. George Bush has ruined the country. You still have respect and class--something Clinton and Carville will NEVER have.

32 possible Veeps on MSNBC's list and Al Gore nowhere in sight? Does no one think? Ah, but one does, named Carville.

Temperment, experience, judgement (think Iraq), well known, detoxed from Washington (free for eight years now), not Clinton, ready on day one. Al Gore is Hope insurance.

Did no one listen when Obama said Gore would have a seat at the Climate Change table? He was careful not to let on exactly which seat that would be.

He's done it before, you say, it's beneath him, he doesn't want it? Then he's a liar, because he can fight more effectively for our future as the Vice President than he can as a private citizen. Passing up the V.P., where he can do what he pleases instead of having to run the country, would place Gore squarely next to George Bush in history's book of who shirked their responsibility to humanity when they had a chance to make a difference.

He chose not to run for President, so why Veep? That's right. What a waste of time, doing the Presidential marathon. But veepsprint as partner with a Democrat he complements?

When the President of the United States says the country needs you, when the President wants to demonstrate that he cares about getting the best people for our government, "kiss off" is not an acceptable answer.

Enlisting Al Gore will demonstrate that Obama darn sure plans to change our country.

From the 6/1/08 Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/30/AR2008053002627.html

I (Martin Anderson) went up to Reagan. . . . I said, "Let me ask you a hypothetical. The other night, when you went in and sat down with Ford, what would have happened if, when you got in the room, the door shut, and there was just the two of you, and Ford had said, 'Now look, I don't give a damn what I promised, but what the polls are showing clearly is that if you go on the ticket with me, we beat Jimmy Carter. And if you don't go on the ticket, Jimmy Carter may win, and it's your damn fault.' "

Reagan said, "Well, I would have gone on the ticket."

I rarely agree with Carville and do wish he would go away, but...

The Vice-presidency is the perfect platform from which to speak to the world about the looming global environmental crises. From there Al Gore could address global warming issues, take charge of U.S. energy policies, push legislation promoting alternative energies and new technology projects, and be our spokesman for international treaties on environmental issues.

With the full faith and credit of the United States to pursue his passion this could be Al Gore's dream job.

And yes, Mr. Obama would have the most respected political figure in the United States at his side... that’s a winning ticket!

I like and admire Al Gore, but if Carville is for him, that makes me skeptical. Carville said, a couple of months back, that he and his evil, evil wife were moving back to New Orleans. Go, already, and go quietly.

Actually, I agree with the remora on this one. Gore would be an excellent VP if he would take the job.

Who knows -- or cares -- what motivates Carville, but I've been pushing Gore for weeks. I know all the objections, and I sure couldn't blame him if he turned it down. I just love the idea.

Have you listened to this guy speak anytime in the last couple of years? This is not the Al Gore of 2000. He gets righteous when he talks, not just about climate change, but about all of today's issues. Read The Assault On Reason to get an idea of what Gore can do for us on the campaign trail.

When Obama picks a VP, or Gore turns us down, I'll stop mentioning it. Until then, I think it gives us a leg up on victory in November.

Yep, that's why you don't want him as President. Let him write the 21st century environmental policy of the US. Let him end the war on drugs. Let him do universal health care or pre-K or fix Social Security or Medicare.

This isn't just any election. This is a game changer. We have to win this one and Gore pretty much can guarantee victory.

Al Gore is a founding member of DLC, along with Bill Clinton and Lieberman

The Corporatist Democratic Leadership Council - by Ralph Nader Dissident Voice August 7, 2003

"Al From, the founder and soul of the soulless Democratic Leadership Council(DLC), assembled his flock in Philadelphia recently and warned his comrades about a takeover of the Democratic Party by "the far left." Launched in 1985, the "far right" DLC grew to have a controlling interest in the Party through the efforts of then-Governor Bill Clinton, Senator John Breaux, Senator Al Gore and Senator Joseph Lieberman.

If there were a superlative to the word "hubris," it would come close to describing Al From and his DLC cohorts. With unseemly regularity, they take credit for all Democratic victories as having been rooted in their philosophy of turn-your-back-on-organized labor and open-your-pockets-to-corporations (who fund the DLC, incidentally). All Democratic defeats are explained as owing to losing candidates being too "left" or too "populist."

If Gore doesn't want to run for Vice President, Carville has two similarly brilliant ideas:

1. Re-animate Franklin Delano Roosevelt, or

2. Obama/Jesus '08

Both FDR and Jesus are too anti-corporate for Carville.

Gore would overshadow Obama. It'd be like picking Carter. It's really a case of having "too much of a good thing".

Does it ever seem like it is some kind of contest with Carville, O'Reilly, Blitzer - whomever - to just see what they can get away with saying to the media without being laughed at or worse, ignored?
