LET'S suppose you've decided to eat less meat, or are considering it. And let's ignore your reasons for doing so. They may be economic, ethical, altruistic, nutritional or even irrational. The arguments for eating less meat are myriad and well-publicized, but at the moment they're irrelevant, because what I want to address here is (almost) purely pragmatic: How do you do it?

I'm not talking about eating no meat; I'm talking about cutting back, which in some ways is harder than quitting. Vegetarian recipes and traditions are everywhere. But in the American style of eating -- with meat usually at the center of the plate -- it can be difficult to eat two ounces of beef and call it dinner.

Better to raise cows in greenhouse like systems with gas capture....meat would be hard to give up

Like, totally!!

Let's grow them in warehouses where they can fester in their own heat and stench, and then harness that energy!!!

...oh, we already do. They're called FACTORY FARMS, but Concentrated (Camps) Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO) is a more industrial-professional term.

Meat ain't hard to give up when you blink and realize the cruelty and destruction it's all part of.

I'll keep recycling, changed light bulbs, unplug stuff, slowly transform my home into a green home, and change how I use transportation. But I ain't giving up meat. I'll eat organic, grass fed, free range stuff, but that's where I draw the line. :)

We already eat just a couple of ounces each and just a few days a week. We always have - not big meat eaters.

What a shock being Green now tells you everything to do in your life . . . sounds like being in prison.

Except going green is a choice, whereas restrictions imposed by high fuel prices are involuntary. High prices have caused many people to skip meat, drive less, and cut back on the AC. Green isn't just smart; it's becoming the more affordable option.

I'm still gonna eat meat....venison, squirrel, rabbit, duck, goose, pheasant, ruffed grouse, etc.

These animals have less of an impact on climate change to begin with. You can peel them off any highway - no special fancy corporate farms are needed. And you can cook your squirrel in your popcorn popper. Huckelbee has the recipe - e-mail him for it.
