Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett's battle with anal cancer was revealed in October of 2006, and according to a new report, that fight has earned Fawcett millions:

She worked a financial deal with "Entertainment Tonight" earlier this year where the show followed her around to treatments and showed Fawcett's friends videotaping her ordeal. Now, the footage shot by Fawcett's pals is being sold to NBC for "over $2 million," said a source. Craig Nevius, the documentary's producer, said, "We are negotiating with one of the big three networks, but no deal has been signed yet." Presumably, footage would air on both "Today" and "Dateline."

The "Entertainment Tonight" Farrah Fawcett tag page is littered with "EXCLUSIVE" labels, including

Say what you will...colon, anal...bad taste, whatever, Farrah still sells. Just look at the number of comments here. There's something magnetic about that woman.

I would rather say sad.......not magnetic. We are also drawn to sad cirumstances of a person, because it gives us a relief that it isn't us at that particular time. That's just human.

Gee, lucky her, I guess. She gets a moment in the sun, and a few bucks, and all she has to do is face cancer. You should be so lucky. Maybe she can write a book...'The Joy of Cancer".
Or maybe you can find something more important to spend your time complaining about.

Nobody deserves cancer of any variety. And it certainly ain't funny. Both my parents died of cancer. My wife, luckily, survived cancer. It sucks.

Godspeed to Farrah and to all patients who are putting of the good fight.

As a scientist, I'm utterly surprised to read the term "anal cancer". I've heard of colon cancer, but does she actually have cancer of the anal sphincter?

Anal cancer is completely different than colo-rectal cancer. Anal cancer is of the sphincter and can be caused by the condyloma virus.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm actually quite dumbfounded! I guess there is just minimal terminology used in most publications.... time to re-educate myself ;)

frikking in the anal is dangerous. Besides other diseases it can cause cancer, whether science admits it or not.

Poor Farrah. I hope she gets what she needs from E channel. She gave a lot of pleasure to a lot of people with her slim figure, great hairstyle and winning smile in her salad days.

I'm sorry but HuffPo has hit a new low. I feel bad for Farrah. But can't you come up with a more clinical, pc name. Or a correct one. I did a double take when I saw this.

It's called Colo-Rectal Cancer and Huff Pro owes Farrah and the Public an apology.

Shame on You. Not only for your tastelessness but for your stupidity. Doesn't anybody moderate your entries. I think the Readers are smart enough to know what Colo-Rectal refers to.

No more comments.

Actually, you are wrong. Colo-rectal cancer involves the mucosal lining of the colon or rectum. Anal cancer involves the squamous cell lining of the anal canal. Anal cancer is the appropriate medical term. Colo-rectal cancer and anal cancer are two distinct entities.

Although one may argue that the subject is not really newsworthy for Huff post.

Actually anal cancer is the correct medical term. Colo-Rectal cancer is cancer of the COLON or RECTUM, not the anus. But it's probably better to just get offended and demand an apology than to actually think for a moment that you might be incorrect.

What is pc about cancer no matter where it occurs? Now it's not pc to have an anus - let alone cancer of it? Clearly you have an alternate orifice to dispose of your waste!

Huffpo has has has to label farrah's cancer as anal cancer -- no one else's cancers are labeled by type. Could it be the blogger is stuck in the three year old bathroom words level of mis-development? Shame on you!

Its just another 'quiet day in the news' when a story like this has to get hyped in this way to get people to read. When ' Floods in the Midwest' is your national headline, you know you are in trouble.

My husband has been fighting cancer for 12 years. If Farrah Fawcett can find a silver lining in her battle, she should go for it, full speed ahead, and with no apologies to anyone!

If Fawcett has to go through anal cancer, she deserves a couple of million bucks.
