Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett's battle with anal cancer was revealed in October of 2006, and according to a new report, that fight has earned Fawcett millions:

She worked a financial deal with "Entertainment Tonight" earlier this year where the show followed her around to treatments and showed Fawcett's friends videotaping her ordeal. Now, the footage shot by Fawcett's pals is being sold to NBC for "over $2 million," said a source. Craig Nevius, the documentary's producer, said, "We are negotiating with one of the big three networks, but no deal has been signed yet." Presumably, footage would air on both "Today" and "Dateline."

The "Entertainment Tonight" Farrah Fawcett tag page is littered with "EXCLUSIVE" labels, including

Hope she recovers fully. She looks great now, but man, when she was in her prime . . . . oh boy!

Out of bounds characterization HuffPo. What's wrong with you? Are you trying to compete with The Enquirer?

I hope that no one on your staff ever suffers from rectal cancer and has to face the excruciating process and the bankrupting cost.

This woman has shown a lot of courage in her life and being willing to expose her process so that she might cover the medical costs and maintain a living while also doing us the service of letting people know what it's like to go through this is admirable.

Look for your own ways to demonstrate courage rather than seeking to demoralize others.

What about the poor guy in Gary, Indiana who died from rectal cancer because he had no job or health insurance. How much did his family get for his story? Zilch.

If the MSM is stupid enough to pay, then more power to her! She deserves every penny she can get.

I don't think I would have the courage and guts to do that. Farrah is a real hero. Go girl.

Katy Couric is a wealthy crusader about colon cancer and millions loved her more for it. Many lives were saved after her on air colonoscopy. Farah does the same thing, makes money she will need, and everyone says its disgusting?

Why is this news? HuffPost is getting rather tacky these days........not impressive.

What a sickening article. It takes courage to face cancer, and even more courage to talk publicly about something as "unattractive" as anal cancer. To infer that she is "cashing in" on this horrific event in her life reminds me of Ann Coulter's charge about the 911 widows.
Thank you, Farrah, for speaking out about such a personal subject and helping people who are facing the same ordeal while educating others about a devastating disease.

Where is the monitor of this post.

The headline is crass and shows no understanding of the physical suffering and enormous cost of treating cancer.

I went bankrupt with my cancer fight, but my cancer was not nearly as difficult as Fara's so anyway to raise money is good.

How many times have you seen public notices asking for help to pay medical bills of a local friend or family members. Many US citizens are forced to beg to pay medical bills, that is the crime.

The real horror is that in this country we do not have true universal health care, that is bypassing the insurance companies.

Shame on the HuffPo editor who allowed this headline

OrganicGeorge
Thanks for sharing your trials and financial plight with fighting cancer. Too bad our entire government
only works for the corporations and HMO's who send their lobbyists to D.C. to put the screws to the
average Joe who can't even afford to stop working once they become incapacitated with an illness as
common and as serious as cancer. This country no longer works for anyone but the elite. That's a
fact of life.

I really hope she finds a way to sue HuffPo for this. HuffPo has really hit rock bottom with this.

Yes, the egregious cost of healthcare in the U.S. can be in part accounted for by corporations and HMOs (NO APOSTROPHE!!!!!), but most "Murkans" like to ignore--for some reason--the OUTSIZED compensation of U.S. physicians, HIGHEST in the WORLD.

This epistemological "blind spot" has it analog in the refusal of MANY, MANY "Murkans" to acknowledge that the price of motor fuels is determined by their EXCESSIVE consumption, i.e., too much driving and vehicles that are TOO LARGE/HEAVY. (THIS phenomenon derives in no small part derives from a DESIRE to DOMINATE and "one-up" fellow drivers....!!!)

The only more obscure cancer I've heard of was cancer of the tonsils. It has to be a lottery number odds to get either. Hope she survives.

OK ,you haters cut it out, Most out of work actors and even working actors don't have Health insurance. Sure they are insured when they are working but what happens after the career slows or tanks. Her Anal cancer is secondary from the breast cancer. That's bad news,it has spread and it is probably in her organs as well. I am sure she would like to leave her family with something other than enormous medical bills. I wish her well and hope she has as easy a path as possible. I have a friend in similar shape. It's way past time for the Blogsphere to grow and and learn some Humanity.

She went to Germany!!!
So does that mean the Germans have the best health care?
That's the argument we use when people come here.
