I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Christopher Hitchens

The famously acid-tongued and brutally insightful Christopher Hitchens proclaimed himself near "orgasm" on Wednesday over the much maligned conduct and exit of Bill Clinton from presidential politics.

"The ex-president revealed to a crucial number of people something that many of us already knew: he is a raging psycho," said the Vanity Fair writer. "It's very gratifying to see more people catching up to that now."

Explaining that Sen. Clinton's loss was due in large part to her husband's behavior on the trail, Hitchens, a troublesome grin appearing on his face, concluded: "That pleases me more than I can say. In fact, I think I might orgasm in my trousers."

A controversial literary figure, Hitchens has long been a fierce critic of Clinton. He devoted an entire book to the former president's propensity to bend truths and tendency to use divisive racial politics. And during the current campaign he has chimed in, every now and then, with perverse pleasure over the poor-reviews Bill Clinton was receiving.

"He is completely out of control," he told the Hugh Hewitt show. "In other words, he has a lot of good friends who keep telling him, 'Bill, you must stop with this. You can't just ramble and rant on in this mad way like some tenth rate huckster instead of behaving like a former president and chief executive of the United States.' And he knows that they're right, but he can't not help himself. And it's the same with everything else."

Speaking at National Journal and Google's "21st Century Campaign" symposium, Hitchens said that he did not believe Bill Clinton was acting in a Schadenfreude attempt to undermine his wife's campaign -- an effort, of sorts, to remain the couple's most accomplished pol. "I don't think he subconsciously wanted her to lose because [her win] would mean that he was, in some way, back," he said. "Lackluster it wasn't. It was ugly, it was nasty."

And yet, lest one think Hitchens was an supporter of Barack Obama, he had some choice critiques for the Illinois Democrat as well. On the Senator's highly praised speech on race that he gave in Philadelphia during the crest of the Jeremiah Wright scandal, the Vanity Fair writer challenged members of the audience to recited a single line.

"You can't," he proclaimed, a bit excited that his prophecy had turned true. "It was one of the most boring speeches ever made."

Hitchens also poked fun at Obama's recent address in Minneapolis in which it was officially announced that he was the presumptive Democratic nominee. Pronouncing Obama a "megalomaniac" who had the self-delusion to suggest that his primary victory would be looked back upon as the day water levels started to recede, Hitchens mockingly declared: "Just by gathering the delegate count he has arrested the climate crisis."

The famously acid-tongued and brutally insightful Christopher Hitchens proclaimed himself near "orgasm" on Wednesday over the much maligned conduct and exit of Bill Clinton from presidential politics.

Why do people hate Bill so much? He did a much better job then either Bush or Shrub and we the country prospered. Under Shrub we have gone backwards in so many ways, like personel income, national treasure, military might, international reputation, deficet, etc, etc.

It is simply to point the finger and see the direction of the wind and then pen down a book, I bet it is coming...
He seems to be a vodka loaded creepy intellectual, I bet he is also a loner.

I can't fathom why anyone would seriously like Bill Clinton. He was an excellent president and I voted for him both times, but he really is a sleaze. He has always been sleazy. I voted for him and think he was the most gifted president of my life, but he is a phony personally. Believing anything Bill Clinton says is difficult sometimes because he lies with such ease.

Soiling his trousers seems perfectly normal for Hitchens. I am sure he did quite a bit of during his drunken years.

Hitchens famously left the Nation as a regular following 9/11 and signed on to juniors wars against Islam. His "drink soaked" tirades are not befitting a public intellectual.

Hicthens is not a dummy, but there is something about him that strikes me as being kind of vile. He isn't someone I would like to be my roommate, for example. And the image he offered of spurting man-naise in his pants at the thought of the Clintons disappearing from the political scene was disgusting. Maybe he's been comparing falafel recipes with Bill O'Reilly.

Remembering the good old Clinton Years

Mrs. Hilary Clinton portrayed falsely in some of the democratic and independent leaning electorate as a neo-con, a baker and a liar.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Clinton administration worked vigorously promoting policies of peace in Northern Ireland, the Middle East and Ex-Yugoslavia, while here at home we enjoyed general peace and prosperity.
We enjoyed strong friendships in Europe and around the world as we worked in partnership on peace and an environmental policy such as Kyoto.
She has been portrayed as a liar, as she valiantly went to visit our brave American troops on their peace keeping missions in Bosnia. At a time, when there was tremendous tension and in a place where atrocities a were committed short while earlier. Our brave troops and our diplomats, with effective leadership made a positive difference in this war torn part of the world.
Hilary Clinton is portrayed as having baked and visited while First Lady, but this is very inconsistent with her education and her interest in policy and politics. Bill did tell voters they were getting two for one, so we can be led to believe that she was instrumental, or at the very least garnered some experience from it. Actually she probably started getting her experience in the Governors mansion in Arkansas.
As a senator, she has worked tirelessly for the betterment of Americans with policies that include improving our Veterans and Children’s access to quality healthcare.

You are right to cite the many good things about the Clinton Administration.

Clinton also did many not so good things. But NOT what he has been accused of by Hitchens or others.

The myth of Clinton's corruption is just that. A MYTH.

I have many problems with many of his decisions and policies. But he sustained the largest and most prolonged propaganda campaign in American history. With 99% of it based on NOTHING.

And managed to conduct himself with class. Something to my mind that is close to unbelievable.

Hillary makes a fine Senator from New York. And I hope she keeps that job.

I want to see Obama President. But that doesn't mean I buy into any part of the vicious propaganda campaign conducted against Hillary and her husband.

Cable news has gone to hell in a hand basket. There is no news in cable news, just a bunch of angry old men, white men.

Hitchens used to want to be the next Gore Vidal. These days, it seems he's pretty much content to be the next Ann Coulter. It's a shame.

This is a perfect example that points out we don't just need a "Manhattan Project" for energy but also equally important a "Manhattan Project" giving trousers automatic email capeability so that drycleaners can be alerted by email sort of like On-Star when there is a car accident. After solving the technological issues of email, an onboard in-pleat printer can create "sticky notes" affixed to sticky trousers.

No, Chris. I think you meant to say you have an "organism" in your trousers. I'm sure it's nothing new.

I do like some of Hutchins work. However, with all the money he makes you would think he would clean himself up better. His hair always looks dirty and it looks like he has slept in his cloths for days at a time.

I think you would have to go to Abu Garib to find more disgusting images than that describe by Mr. Hitchens.

...and why such glee at the expense of Mother Teressa ?

Saint or not, she took care of millions of sick whom no one would go near and took them in her arms....

That is called Humanity.....
