Couric Hillary

Adding to her comments last night in Washington — "that Sen. Clinton received some of the most unfair, hostile coverage I've ever seen" — Katie Couric has filmed a Keith Olbermann-style special commentary (called ner "Notebook") slamming the media for its sexist coverage of Hillary Clinton and claiming that the sexist coverage hurt her chances at becoming the Democratic party nominee. The Notebook will air tonight on CBS affiliates and on CBS radio, and will live on CBSNews.com.

"One of the great lessons of [Hillary Clinton's] campaign is the continued and accepted role of sexism in American life, particularly in the media....It isn't just Hillary Clinton who needs to learn a lesson from this primary season — it's all the people who crossed the line, and all the women and men who let them get away with it."

Watch the video below:

Couric's reference in the video to "mainstream pundits saying they instinctively cross their legs at the mention of her name" is specifically about Tucker Carlson, who often made such a claim while still on MSNBC during the campaign.

Last night, without naming names, Couric seemed to excoriate both MSNBC's Chris Matthews — who has come under fire for sexist remarks against Hillary Clinton — and NBC's Lee Cowan — who reportedly said he found it "hard to stay objective" covering Obama — saying, "That's your job...find another line of work." Matthews notoriously announced that he "felt [a] thrill going up [his] leg" while listening to Obama speak, and was forced to apologize for sexist remarks against Clinton in January.

Okay please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong since I never watch Katie Couric but isn't it a little late for Katie to be standing on the table "slamming the media for its sexist coverage of Hillary Clinton"? I mean, isn't SHE the media. Didn't she have an obligation to speak out against any such blatant sexist coverage AT THE TIME IT WAS HAPPENING? If not speaking out against it, at least reporting it as it happened? A "special comment"? Maybe setting the record straight? Something? So isn't she one of the people that "let them get away with it"?

I don't mean to suggest that there wasn't ANY sexist coverage or comments - just that Katie's outrage and timing are a bit suspect. As I said, if she was out there pounding the pulpit on a regular basis, I stand corrected...I just never heard it.

Where was she when this was all coming down? What the Hey, better late than never. Not much better, but better nonetheless. The real lesson is that since the Obama campaign and the media set the bar so low, this form of hypocrisy is going to come around and bite Obama on the ass.

She can extrapolate to her own failure.

These women can't stand to know that Hilary was beaten by her own game. She was mean as hell. Why don't they say she started the "white" race war....she embarrassed Sen. Obama . The Repubs sent a 3-page list to the media of the nasty commetns she made about him they are going to use in this election, she she gave her conceding speech. She has done him harm, and if he loses this election, it would be Hillary's fault.!!!!!
Katie - just shut up.
You feminists want to say the race was stolen from Hillary and that the media caused all this. Its Hillary's own fault, she was obnoxious, nasty and downright hateful. She lost, get over it!!!!!

THIS IS EXCATELY WHY A WOMAN WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT. She did not lose because of sexism, she lost because she lost. All this whining is the very reason a Woman Should NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be President.

I completely agree.

I think her being a Clinton is a way bigger issue than her being a woman.

I'm sure if Obama lost, Charmed wouldpost exactly the same thing, swapping 'black' for 'woman' and 'racism' for 'sexism'.

It's just old-fashioned fear of change. Thankfully, it's losing.

If we can prove that a man shouldn't be president by using GWB as an example, then I guess we can say that women shouldn't be president either! In case you didn't know, women are no more all alike then men are all alike.

haa Bush altered his appearance to look younger? Has he indulged himself to look twenty or even thirty when he is sixty? You know feminists, you really need to work on the corporate appeals to women that unless they use botox and face lifts in their later years, they will be useless. Start now you feminists to champion the beauty of every human be3ing without having breast augmentations, or breast reductions, or any of the other things that women perceive makes them more beauitiful

IMO this is what feminists need to work on, instead of blindly and vindictively supporting a flawed candidate who LOST and can never win.

What do femiinists want? We are human beings. Women of all ages do not go about wearing uplifting bras to enhance their breast appearance because---well because of what? It makes them appear more beautiful to men? What about the anorexic women who have bought into the meme that the thinner they are, the more beautiful they are. And what the hell is it with women who dress up thieir little daughters, apply adult makeup to their faces, so they can win a beauty contest when they have no clue4 what real beauty is.

Come on feminists. Get on track. You have missed the train and are useless at this point.

Charmed, I'm not sure.

I am for Obama and I find your ignorant remark repugnant.

For shame.

So she has started writing her "Notebook" segment herself then? Remember the charges of plagiarism last year? The notebook segment that some lackey lifted verbatim from someone else's article?

A shameless desperate attempt to steal Olbermann's style to drum up rating. I will NOT be watching. Then again is ANYONE even going to see it? LOL.

Yes. HIllary already rained on his parade, and they are still not satisfied. They just want Sen. Obama to have a co-presidency - that is what all those feminists want. Any Katie, shut up....go away. I used to like her, but here she comes...pushing the dagger into Sen. Obama.

There was some sexism in the media. But that's not why Hillary lost. She lost because of a faulty strategy that backfired, a series of gaffes by her and her husband and because the Obama campaign had a much better strategy and much fewer gaffes.

Maybe it was sexist to call out someone that lied over and over again. Oh wait she misspoke and was tired.
