Cheney

Politico:

He's a highly effective fundraiser in an election cycle in which Republicans are starved for cash, a hero to the wing of the party that views John McCain with the most suspicion. He has four decades of campaign experience, ranging from a short stint running Gerald Ford's election bid in 1976 to two successful races on the presidential ticket....

Going further, McCain even told Hayes in comments heretofore unpublished that he'd consider Cheney for an administration post. Asked whether he'd be interested in Cheney had the vice president not already have served under Bush for two terms, McCain said: "I don't know if I would want him as vice president. He and I have the same strengths. But to serve in other capacities? Hell, yeah."

He just confirm that he is running for Bush's third term.

Regardless of whether he is officially part of the government, Cheney will make McCain do his bidding, just like he does Dubya.

I really hope that MSM picks up on this one. Kinda hurts his "Maverick" image, huh?

I hope the Obama camp runs with this. There are eerie ideological similarities between McCain and Cheney and his comments only solidify this sentiment. A McCain presidency is almost a surrogate Cheney run for the White House.

Forgive me if I am incorrect, but this appears to be a misleading title and I am sure most of you missed it. It said he would use him in "some capacity" and the article focused on fundraising. I did not see anything about putting him on the cabinet.

You are parsing, sandiegoconservative

"Other capacities" includes a cabinet position.

No, what you said is parsing.

Other capacities mean lots of things, but nowhere is a cabinet position mentioned, from what I saw.

I agree - when you click on "read the whole post", the article is saying something completely different than the title.

In case you dont know it by now,Cheney doesnt give away anything for free. Thought he was campaigning for free in the last 2 elections? you only have to take a look at the connection Halliburton-Iraq.

He will gladly raise funds, but in exchange 100 years stay in Iraq.

The key word is that he would want him in his cabinet - and that is bad enough!!!

Is McSame insane? His gaffes and mispeaks are literally losing the presidency before the fall. His idea to make Dick Cheney a part of his cabinet, means there must have been a back room deal between Bush, Cheney and McSame.

Cheney has lower approval numbers than Bush- lower than 25%. If I was McCain I'd keep my mouth shut on this if he is even considering it. Unfortunately, keeping his mouth shut isn't McCain's strong suit. If the idea is to energize the GOP base, hey maybe Cheney can do that for some of the most wealthy people in the party, but everybody else already knows Cheney is the actual President and equally responsible for the mess we are in..

Kinda hard to say you're not running for Bush's 3rd term when you talk about putting the most despised man in America in your administration. Maybe Cheney can use McCain as his next hand-puppet.

In the McSame adiminstration, Dicky could run the Federal Bureau of Prisons (from his jail cell).

This is the crazy crap that always seems to fall from McSames lips, and the kind of sh*t that REALLY concerns me. He refuses to change and wants to do the same old thing. What ever happened to thinking outside of the box?

McSame's biggest problem seems to be foot in mouth disease.

In this political cycle, the rethugs are down and the dems are up.

The party in power routinely manages to create desire amongst the voters for the party that is not in power.
