AFP:

Security scanners which can see through passengers' clothing and reveal details of their body underneath are being installed in 10 US airports, the US Transportation Security Administration said Tuesday.

A random selection of travellers getting ready to board airplanes in Washington, New York's Kennedy, Los Angeles and other key hubs will be shut in the glass booths while a three-dimensional image is made of their body beneath their clothes.

Hi Folks--

When the prisoners at Nazi Death camps were sent to the gas chambers, they were first ordered to remove all their clothing. I'll bet there were plenty of people in uniform standing around nearby to watch the parade of pretty young women and handsome young men as they marched naked to their deaths.

Voyeurism at it's finest! That's all there is to it. It's borderline inappropriate when it comes to a pat down, but this is down right ridiculous. This technology is pushing the limits of tolerance and good taste. Does the government, or anyone else for that matter, have the right to put people through what's tantamount to a strip search, just because they can? Isn't this a total violation of one's privacy and civil rights?

If you're caught peeking in someone's window, or video taping someone in the restroom, you're labeled a pervert and you go to jail. If you're caught taking pictures of, or gawking at, naked children you're labeled a pedophile and put in jail. But, it's OK for certain people to check our your most personal and intimate of property...your body...with or without your permission, because you want/need to take a flight? What are we coming too?!?!

I'm by no means a prude, but this is just wrong on so many levels. For strangers to be sitting there "examining" your body on a monitor in another booth is just simply obscene.

They say the photos can't be printed or copied in any form or fashion. Anyone want to bet someone will find a way? AND...very soon! What about taking a picture of the screen with a cell phone camera? BINGO...on the internet.

Not satisfied to look at their own FATASSes, The "Federal Air Transportation Airport Security Service" now gets to use electronics to examine the gluteus maximus of whomever, whenever.

OK, now this is not as high on the priority list as, say, the so-called patriot act, but this is DEFINITELY one of the things we need repealed with our new congress/president!

Absolutely absurd, and shameful. You know these images will show up on Flickr within months. By the way, when are they going to start thinking about protecting out sea ports?

Land of the "free" and home of the "brave", indeed. Is there no depravity we will not permit Big Brother to inflict upon us in the name of "safety." What really frost me are the people who see no problem with all this. We have become a nation of soulless, cowardly security monkeys. Tom Paine would surely weep.

Better yet, just naked. If we're naked we can't be hiding much, now can we?

Maybe just maybe the U.S Government should trust American citizens, until then piss on Bush and the TSA.

Another strong argument for the U.S. to become a nudist camp.

When all the major US carriers collapse into bankruptcy later this year, they'll be sure to appreciate how much this has cost them. I will no longer fly at all. Not since the last time it took six hours to just get to and from the airport, not to mention the four hours I spent waiting for a 30 minute flight to conclude, after enduring body searches, and watching "airport personnel" walk un-checked through all security areas. And can I just say that I expect the techs who operate all this illegal wequipment to be trained? What a bunch of stupids!

Lawyers are going to love this. Lots of deep pockets at the airport to get into when Molly's rack shows up on Utube.

This is what we are great at; focusing masses amount of resources on effects, rather than causes. It's like trying different brands of toothpaste, when you really need a root canal. We have all this advanced collective knowledge. yet, when it comes to public policy, or foreign policy we can be as dumb as they come. Because we are like misbehaving children, who never want to take responsibility for our own actions, thus denying ourselves true solutions. And when we end up suffering from the effects of past actions, we publicly pretend those consequences appeared out of thin air! (Why do they hate us?) And of course this is easy, because we like to pretend!

Let's have a moratorium on specious snarking. Particularly by those who are guilty of similar faults in their posts.

I re-read it FOUR times and all I caught was "masses." Is that what you're talking about? Geez, getalife. If not, please edify.
