California First Family Battle Publicly Over Presidential Race

It is one thing to disagree about politics with your spouse at a backyard barbecue. It is quite another to do it in front of the 38 million people of California, with apparent and abundant passion.

Of all the supporters behind the two presumptive nominees for president this year, none are quite as intriguing as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican who has thrown his support behind Senator John McCain, and the governor's wife, Maria Shriver, a Democrat and vocal backer of Senator Barack Obama.

My husband calls himself a New York Republican (he votes republican for economical reasons - tax cuts, etc. - my husband does not get the fact that tax cuts means school budget cuts, health care budget cuts, etc. and that in the end we end up paying those "taxes" one way or the other). I am a Spanish citizen and I can not vote, but I have donated to the Obama campaign (my husband being against it). It is not easy to talk about politics because it becomes a battle when we do. I have lived in this country for 12 years and I have never been so excited about the General Elections. I hope that Obama wins. I want to put an Obama sign in my front yard (another fight with my husband - as far as I am concerned he can put the McCain sign but the truth of the matter is that he does not like McCain at all because of the way he treated his first wife) and a sticker in my car. We will see how that goes. I am sure that there are many couples in the same situation than me.

Hello? NEW YORK and NEW JERSEY were the birthplace of the Motion Picture Industry. The only reasons the fledgling studios moved WEST was because of the daylight and LOTS of open OUTDOOR spaces for shooting. Oh--and did I mention CHEAP real estate? And televison followed. East to West and not West to East. Early TV productions were done much like early movies. On the cheap and in front of a single LOCAL camera. There were no sets, no stars and no multi-million dollar budgets. If Arnold had been in early SILENT movies, he would never have made the transition to talkies. And the same with TV-the last thing that vets and their families wanted to hear after WWII was a Thick Austrian accent.....

If he really is backing McCain , he is backing big money lobbyist, big corporations, etc. It really shows California residents the lack of Judgement upon the Governer to back a man with such apparent flaws.
