Olbermann Special Comment Mccain

Thursday night's "Countdown" brought, as promised, a Special Comment from Keith Olbermann on John McCain's comments that it doesn't matter when we bring the troops home from Iraq on the "Today" show.

Olbermann remained subdued and forlorn as he blasted the Republican nominee for previous statements on the impending success in Iraq and for the hypocrisy inherent in trumpeting his veteran status and yet callously remarking that it doesn't matter when American troops come home. Olbermann's running theme was providing "context" for McCain's "Today" show remarks, a counter to the McCain camp's claim that his remarks were taken out of context.

Read the Special Comment here.

I am sick and tired of Keith's rants and ravings. Take page from Tim Russerts book and get to your points without the bombast. People are tired of the manner in which your message is presented...not necesarily the message it self. Get over your self.

Did you even watch the comment? Where was the so-called bombast? If you bothered to watch or read other people's comments, you would see how WAY off base your comment was.

without bombast, olberman would be nothing more than a left wing whiner who sprinkles his drivel with 'sir and madam', and steals material from his betters, like edward r murrow

If you are tired--don't watch him--but your statement that people are tired...can't be proved by the posts on the current Huff Po blogs, seems a lot of people are squarely behind Olbermann--who else has been the distaff voice in this political climate--when so many were afraid to speak? Why is passion equated with ego???

Keith. That was one of your most impressive reports/presentations to date. You summed it all up
and brilliantly made the point in a way that everyone could understand with his constant double speak
and flip flopping.
You are the only one who puts in the work that makes your presentations so clear. Please keep up the good work!

Keith Olbermann: Thank You, for speaking your mind and for honoring the sacrifice our soldiers have made. Thank You, for caring who will be the next president and taking to task all the doublespeak.

This is a great commentary for thinking people.

Like a prick in the slogan balloon that passes for Republicon policies.

Footnote: McCain is psychologically unfit for higher office. I predict he will be replaced as the nominee by someone else. It's just too embarrassing. Obama will make toast out of him in the debates.

Keith Olbermann deserves an Emmy for this!
Outstanding!!!

Keith Olbermann = Windbag full of hot air. When did this self-important, self-righteous person appoint himself the moral authority of all the world? I don't give a flying sh**t if he's on the same side of the issue as me, his pompous rants are the equivalent of an exploding head on TV. TV journalism at its worst.

Wrong. It's TV journalism reborn to what it was intended to be. If there's no independent media (as we have seen for the past several years), you get absolute power corrupting absolutely.

Take the time to listen and process what he's saying. Yes, he probably has an ego the size of his studio, but he speaks the TRUTH......something the American people aren't used to hearing any more.

Well someone has to take McCain to task besides my self and 100,000,000 fellow citizens who view mCcain a tarnished old lying man who will do anything to try to be president. He disgraced himself and the uniform he wore.

He was softer spoken in this "special comment" which I thought was more effective than the screaming he has done in the past. I think his point is better made with this softer tone of voice. Also, now that we have a democratic nominee, it is nice to see him focus on the real bad guy - THE REPUBLICANS!

That was a special ranting voice aimed at getting Hillary out of the race. He should have apologized for his rant "Mrs Clinton your must denounce G Ferraro in the strongest terms."
That is the night I stopped watching him; so I don't know about subsequent raves. He is a too big gasbag. Too full of himself. After hearing the tragic news about Tim Russert today, I just pray that the network will not dishonor his memory by giving KO the show. At the time he renewed his contract with NBC, his show was increasing in audience share, but I think if all the people who say on HP they don't watch his show anymore, he is on the decline. Should they put KO in to replace TR, I won't watch that show either.

ok ... so the war began in 2003 ... mccain thinks that the war would be won in 2013. that is a ten year war. that is not the war that any of us signed up for. 10 years???????

bush declared victory in november of 2003 ... what is going on here?

how is there one talking point "the need to honor the soldiers so that they can have victory" ??? they keep saying that obama wants to surrender ... i don't get it. who are we fighting again? iraqi's just want us out.

we need to leave them to manage their own country.

we need to leave this quagmire ... bush already declared victory ... the war has been over ... lets now bring everyone home and destroy these plans for 60 permanent bases.

The Problem With McCain Bashing!

This is the most important election in our recent history. I have No DOUBT that Obama can crush McCain in the General Election but at this point in the Election Race McCain is just the PRESUMPTIVE nominee. McCain has stuck his foot in his mouth time and time again and he just left the starting gate. This is the time to let out more rope, not to tighten the noose. It's not to late for the RNC cigar smokers, to decide to force him to bow out and put in place Mitt Romney or another stronger candidate. We shouldn't make the Republicans realize the error of their ways until it's to late.

F.Y.I.
This is my first post to any Internet site, Forum, or Blog. I don"t have an English degree, so please don"t judge me on my grammar or spelling just the CONTEXT.

You think Romney is a stronger candidate? I disagree at least in part. McCain is probably the ONLY republican who can even try to compete in this election. Primarily because of his widespread reputation as a maverick and independent (even though this no longer describes who he really is). The press loves him (he calls them his base). To be a standard republican is political poison in this election. Yes, McCain is bumbling, but Romney would be crucified by the press and his opponent (especially since he was a liberal republican governor who changed into a conservative just in time to run for president - can you say flip flop?) AND he acts like a stiff wooden like elitist.

P.S. Don't worry about grammar and typos. You should have seen some of my typos in the past, they made me sound intoxicated or unhinged!

Thanks for the comment!

"widespread reputation as a maverick and independent"

This is actually his biggest weakness. No matter how much he tries to be the "Change Candidate" Obama has this demographic in the bag. This is the reason you have seen McCain change his stance, on a LOT of "Independent" issues. Thus, not only is he the ultimate FLIP FLOP Candidate, making the Independent voters hate him but he is a traitor in the eyes of many Republican voters for even having those "Maverick" stances. I believe deep down McCain even hates himself for some of these stances he has been forced to take.

If Ronald Reagan himself were alive and running this cycle, he would lose. And then again, Reagan wouldn't have gotten us into this horrible disaster.
