Olbermann Special Comment Mccain

Thursday night's "Countdown" brought, as promised, a Special Comment from Keith Olbermann on John McCain's comments that it doesn't matter when we bring the troops home from Iraq on the "Today" show.

Olbermann remained subdued and forlorn as he blasted the Republican nominee for previous statements on the impending success in Iraq and for the hypocrisy inherent in trumpeting his veteran status and yet callously remarking that it doesn't matter when American troops come home. Olbermann's running theme was providing "context" for McCain's "Today" show remarks, a counter to the McCain camp's claim that his remarks were taken out of context.

Read the Special Comment here.

Good for you Keith! You seem to be the only ones with balls in journalism, you tell it like it is. Inlike Faux news or CNN.

Thank you KO. Many more with your courage to speak up are needed.

He tends to run on just a little bit too long, I think. It's sort of cheap feeling to say "it needs a little punching up" when a man's trying to speak truth to power, but I think a special comment should be measured by its effectiveness in communicating the message to us, and sometimes the overwrought emotion and long-running oratory can just start to dull his impact.

Still, damn true, every word of it. But get Obama to help polish your style ;)

KO's great, but he needs somebody to tell him when he's gone on too long, or emoted too strongly. He needs a George Martin.

Agreed. He's gotten to the point I can just look at the pictures on HuffPo or MSNBD that I know it's a "Special Comment", he's railing against someone who's against Obama blah blah blah, so i just don't even bother watching anymore. Too bad he didn't pick up on any of Tim Russerts comment and interviewing skills.

We are canonizing Tim right now but in the run up to this mess in Iraq he drank the Kook-Aid But, to his credit, he was smart enough not to equate Keith with himself and let Keith do what he couldn't do-- an honest painful rant!

Booya - Olbermann - I wanted to cry at the end when you read the names of those soldiers who had lost their lives - my goodness, I hope we can hear more of this truth -

Phenomenal Special Comment!

Keith Olbermann has some really insightful things to say, but unfortunately he loses his credibility when he shouts everything and acts obnoxious.

Good thing he's toned down the rhetoric and such, and is now solely concentrating on effective delivery of this important message.

Excellent comment; finally something that counters Fox news coverage as enablers of John McCain. It's nice to listen to Keith's comments.

I think Keith O. will be taking over Meet The Press now, with Rachel Maddow taking over Countdown, Chuck Todd will fill Russert's political chief role and Andrea Mitchell will be chief Washington correspondent.

Rachele Daddow should take over Meet the Press cause its more her style Kieth is just fine right where he is

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:09 PM on 06/13/2008

I agree. Meet The Press is much more Rachel's style than Keith's.

I totally agree. Though I would love to see Rachel replace Verdict with Pat Buchanan during the week( Abrams is mearly a front) Pats on almost everyday and commands the show while he's on, making Abrams look foolish. Did you see Abrams special guest Jerry Springer?

love to see an intelligent, educated person like Ms Maddow doing MTP, but you think NBC has the guts to put an openly gay woman on MTP? ROTFLMAO

"Resident dumbaass negroid"??? My first instinct was to respond nastily to this ignorance. But HUFFPOST MODERATORS you have banned people for less. WTF? Only slurs against whites get banned? This is the 5th time I have seen this. Scrub this BS or we will take it to Adriana pronto. These little internet tough guys wouldn't say this to someone's face. Do your fvcking jobs moderators!!!

How does David Gregory fit in? He's good a White House correspondent but his show needs a lot of work. Too much format. He talks over his guests or cuts them off because their time is chopped into under-sized bits. Actually, I think Rachel Maddow would be a good person to take over MTP.

Racheal Maddow does the same thing. When someone doesn't agree with her she starts into a rapid fire retort sounding like a chipmunk talking over everyone. She, like many others, takes it disagreeing personally. She's good though. If she could control her instinct to get the last word she'll be great.

I have to admit Im even more madder than hell after hearing what KO had to say about McCain. Our nation is failing at the core because we have these monkeys running the WH and McCain is just another extension to their madness. I'm afraid to say that its these guys in the WH who have sold their country to terrorism and fascism and anything sick and evil about the world. They don't care for solders and troops and their lives. They don't care for the normal average person. They don't even care for our country. All they want is to make their friends happy -- the rich corporations, the oil companies and special interest lobbyist.

God damn America to McBush and their republican party! They make me sick!~

The basic flaw in McCain's logic is that it is even remotely possible to have troops in Iraq WITHOUT frequent fatalities.

It ain't exactly post-WW II Germany or Japan.

McCain hasn't learned that in the last FIVE YEARS!

This from a man who can't keep Sunnis and Shiites straight.

Yes, but it's about troop safety -- so if the troops come home, and perhaps get hit by a car, they won't have guaranteed health insurance.
McCain is just looking out for their best interests. In Iraq they have medical care, and won't get shot by the crips or the bloods, not even by al-Qaeda in New Jersey.

Okay, here's the scoop: Keith Olbermann is merely trying to do what the public, Obama, or McCain haven't really been able to: keep McCain's lies straight. It's a full time job just trying to document all of the flip flops and misleads, just as it is to get the American people to see through the McCain-Bush facade.

Keith Olbermann is to journalism as Richard Stallman is to software: obnoxious sometimes, but someone has to get out there and show the rest of us where the high road actually is, even if there are few who wish to share it with them,
