Olbermann Special Comment Mccain

Thursday night's "Countdown" brought, as promised, a Special Comment from Keith Olbermann on John McCain's comments that it doesn't matter when we bring the troops home from Iraq on the "Today" show.

Olbermann remained subdued and forlorn as he blasted the Republican nominee for previous statements on the impending success in Iraq and for the hypocrisy inherent in trumpeting his veteran status and yet callously remarking that it doesn't matter when American troops come home. Olbermann's running theme was providing "context" for McCain's "Today" show remarks, a counter to the McCain camp's claim that his remarks were taken out of context.

Read the Special Comment here.

KO is spot on, but I might add this:

Our economy was doing great during the first 5 years of the Vietnam war. During the second 5 years, we went into a deep recession, and for some time afterwards.

This war is definitely a big drain on our economy also. It's not the only reason that our country's economy is going into the s***ter bigtime. It has to do with the gross mismanagement of our economy during the last 7 1/2 years.

If we elect McCaine, then we can look forward to more of the same. He'll be a tool of the far right just as Bush has been. He will destroy us. Sure we'll have a lot of missiles and bombs and still look at ourselves as the only Super power, but the rest of the world will be laughing at us as many of them are now, while we sink deeper and deeper into despair.

You've done it again, Keith! You are brilliant! You are the only reporter today that can look at the true facts and can come up with an intelligent, well articulated response, connecting the dots with intelligence. Most of the other media heads just spew out what is fed to them with no analysis whatsoever.
YOU ROCK, KEITH!

You are so right. never forget Bill Moyers The great mind, delivery, questions. A master .Journalist"they all call themselves that) but few can come close. As an interviewer no one beats Charlie Rose but he is just too smart to waste his talents with politicians. I do like Keith with a slower and nicer delivery. The message is still clear, you are the only one telling the truth.None of the them come back to say you are wrong.Keep up the good work.

Right on Keith!

Why does McOld cut people off when they ask him questions; have you guys noticed? With the condescending sly smile that screams "god, you don't know the answer to such a silly question"? He talks down at people constantly.

Keith, you are our last hope!

If you believe that, Please hold my horse while I go take a s**t .............

Please! You don't believe this yourself; Fox is not more fair than MSNBC, at least where Keith is concerned. I wish MSNBC would go ahead and identify Pat Buchannan as a McCain supporter and surrogate when he is on. Buchannan was outrageous on Abrams' "The Verdict". People need to speak up and out about Pat.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:56 PM on 06/13/2008

Is MSNBC required to use Pat Buchanan? He is such an old racist, he yells all the time and he cuts off everyone else. I would think these "hosts" would be embarrassed to have him on their shows. I can't stand it and have to change the channel. Maybe Keith can pass this information along to those at MSNBC condone racists and liars. Shame on them!

Can you share with us where FN was "more fair" than MSNBC?

Keith is doing the American people a great service. Keith is calling McCain on his bullsh*t, and it is good, someone needs to do it before we put McCain the walking disaster into the White House. We do not need 4 more years of Republicans idiots in the White House, McCain is a walking mistake, he is worst than Bush, he is just NOT mentally fit enough.

Olberman got it. McCain/Cheney in the White House is just frightening.

Just when ISN'T the world troubled? There has always been war, disease, famine, and starvation SOMEwhere in the world; practically since it began.

Gen. Wesley Clark has also made excellent points regarding Sen. McCain recently. His premise is that everyone in the media is giving John McCain so much credit for being an expert on foreign policy just because he was a POW for 5 years that it amounts to a free pass. But he has no real track record and has not headed any foreign policy group while in the Senate. Gen. Clark contrasted his own foreign policy experiences to McCain's over the years and there is no comparison. Clark's is far superior. Why do we give him a pass as an expert just because of the POW status? American hero yes, but what about the hundreds/ thousands of other American POWs. Does McCain's experiences outweigh theirs just because he's in the Senate? Do we automatically assume that they would be experts in foreign policy matters because they were POW? Ever been to a V.A. Hospital and talked to some of these guys? I've worked with some of them for years and i'm a vet myself. Put all of his recent gaffes in context with this and i think that he can be held to task fairly on his own and the media's claim. There is some risk of course because of his hero status. The MSM will be scared (with the exception of K.O.) of a backlash. Granted, Obama doesn't have said experience either, but that is not the claim that he is running on.

How can being in lock-up for 5 years inform you with foreign policy knowledge?
The Republicans must be saying that anyone in lock-up can be President. Even Willy Horton.

How does being a POW make him a hero? An abused veteran who served our country, but HERO, come on.

"Mr. McCain’s ... dream world in which our people can all come home while they stay there for a hundred years but they’ll be back by 2013."

The explanation for this seeming discrepancy is simple. This adds up perfectly, since John McCain apparently believes that the current year is 1913!

Reality and truth have absolutely no party bias. Reality and truth are what the news media should report, without and embellishment or spin.

Olbermann did good in this one. I thought he was going to cry. He cares about the troops.

I agree. KO's style a bit too theatrical, but I guess you need that to offset FN. Note that my remark is on the style, not substance.
