236.com:

hree full months after GOP-Libertarian candidate Ron Paul announced his presidential campaign would be "winding down", he's actually throwing in the towel for real. Yes, the man who spent over a year pledging to dismantle the United States military has finally ended his quest to be elected its Commander in Chief. Often times portrayed as "crazy", "batshit crazy" and "absolutely freaking nuts", Paul marched to the beat of his own drummer. A drummer that supported building a 700 mile fence along the Mexican border because immigrants are the cause of all our welfare problems.

Ron Paul never did get his chance to abolish the IRS, but his hilarious cranky old man antics certainly did abolish a little bit of the sadness in all our lives. Let's take a look back at the magical year we shared together.

Are you purposely incoherent?

The author of this article definitely doesn't seem to have a grasp of any of the issues that Dr. Paul raised. For instance, the author insinuates that Dr. Paul blames illegal immigration for the woes of the welfare state, nothing if farther from the truth; Dr. Paul blames the welfare state on the massive government bureaucracies have absolutely no incentive to actually lift people out of government dependency, but have every incentive to keep them in it since larger welfare rolls mean larger budgets, more employees, more expenditures and a broader scope of power. Like every other wealth-transfer scheme the government employs, welfare, whether it be on the personal level, corporate level or in the form of foreign aid is nothing more than a useful tool that expands and maintains the government's self-perpetuation. Let's not mention the use of war as a tool of expansion, there is enough material on that subject to prove that peace is the enemy of the State.

Ron Paul. Good riddance.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:46 PM on 06/15/2008

Oh yeah, good riddance right. So, you are so willing to settle for the same old worn out candidates that promise you the world without ever saying anything different. It is strange that we put so much credence in those like McCain or Obama when they offer nothing, absolutely nothing but a repeat stage production with a few different props. Both of them will maintain the entrenchment policies of Washington. They will simply continue the same very vicious circle that takes place at all levels of government because power begets more power. Bureaucrats on every level will do whatever they can to exert and in most cases extend their power. Eventually, every powerful government agency, no matter whether it is on the local, state or federal level, will always become a tool for those who are in power or who can influence those in power. Look at just about every level of government and you will find that they have large, sometimes huge staffs, well paid and the recipients of wonderful benefits, yet they are also the most wasteful because they don’t earn the money they spend, they use other people’s money, our money and they don’t give a damn how they spend it. Those in government, on every level, will ensure their own job security by continually expanding their “legal” scope or reach into the lives of the People. The must propagate themselves through intruding into the everyday affairs and the private lives of the People.

Ron Paul merely agrees wholeheartedly with the Constitution and many of the fundamentals of our forefathers who began this democratic experiment. He has rightfully identified the wrong turns America has taken along the way that are enslaving us all now. Most cannot see the Big Picture I suppose and that is what causes America to stumble along in the dark today. He is the best of the bunch on either side by far.

The Dumbing Down of America for the past 50 years has us rooting for enslavement. mediocrity and mindless policies and well ... what we have today in this once great Country ... an insane government.

Bush, Cheney, Rummy and the gang could not have brought us NeoCon madness had we NOT been Dumbed Down as a nation. Apathy reigns.

Some will regard Ron Paul's overall message to please 'Wake Up' as an afront to their precious right to be Ignorant. You can tell who these folks are by the personal attacks they make on the man RATHER than by understanding their own county's foundations ... it's Fundamentals that have been methodically undermined by keeping the populace ignorant.

Ron Paul is a Stateman ... not a Politician.

America has forgotten what a Statesman even is.

Dr. Paul seems to be the only person in Congress who realizes that the American People, by slight of hand, are being made into serfs who are trapped as debtors, held in the servitude of a modern day feudal peonage. The American People labor for pennies and then are made to pay continual rents in the form of taxes, fees, penalties, licenses and a multitude of legal distortions intent, not only to take away our financial independence, but our individual independence and liberty.

If you read the publications of the Federal Reserve you will find that under a Fiat Monetary System there is no need for taxation at all since every single dollar is borrowed into existence. In fact, in one publication of the Federal Reserve it clearly states that the only reasons for the Income Tax, Estate Tax and Gift Tax is so the government can maintain Social Control, Enforce the use of Fiat Currency and to Redistribute the Wealth.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation then by deflation, the banks and the corporations will grow up around them, will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies." -Jefferson

Corporations run America. The government is used as a tool of the corporations, although the illusion is maintained that the government is actually "regulating" them. In reality, the government helps maintains corporate hegemony in a variety of ways, such putting in place expensive regulations that corporations can easily afford but small operations cannot, or levying penalties that don't faze large corporations but bury small entrepreneurs.
If you think the government does ANYTHING in the interest of the people, you are deluded. Most legislators are bought and paid for. The corporate lobbyists either write or vet a disturbing amount of legislation.
If you want to reign in the out of control corporations that are bleeding this country dry, the last thing you need is more government. That's just giving them a bigger hammer.
If you think the problem is George Bush, you are mistaken. He is just a symptom. If the system were not fundamentally unsound, he would never have been to do what he did. Look how the Democrats fawned over him for years after 9/11, and even after 2006 refused to follow the will of the people and and cut Iraq war funding or impeach the man. The Democrats are in the pockets of corporations every bit as much as Republicans - although to keep up appearances, they have to feebly pretend otherwise.
Removing power from government is the #1 thing we can do to disempower corporations and give the governance of America back to the people.

Only Dr. Paul has raised the questions about the hidden inflation tax that eats away at the wealth and earnings power of the American People. He has expressed the fact that every single Fiat Monetary System eventually fails and that our system will be no different.

Consider this: a person making, say $50,000.00 per year in 2008 only has the effective purchasing power of $9,030.69 in 1970 dollars; so, in other words, a person who makes about $24.00 dollars per hour in 2008 only has the purchasing power of $4.34 per hour in 1970 dollars. Now, when you consider the same $50,000.00 today compared to the purchasing power of 1913, the year the Federal Reserve Act was rammed down the throats of the American People, then that 50K only has the purchasing power of $2,304.22 in 1913 dollars.

That is real wealth that has gradually been stolen from the American People, our labor today is basically free in terms of real money, or what was real money prior to 1913 and then the real blows of 1933 and especially 1971 when the dollar was made by total fiat. Is it any wonder why the government must mandate the minimum wage? A person making a minimum wage of $5.85 today has the effective purchasing power of $1.06 per hour in 1970 dollars or $42.40 per week in 1970 purchasing power. So, where is the outrage?

As always, Dr Paul's detractors resort to personal attacks and name calling. They never challenge his message or his ideas.

This is what HuffPo finds creepy:

- for obeying his oath of office,...upholding the US Constitution.

- being against war and military aggression abroad without the consent of the people through their representatives in Congress.

- for having the foresight to vote against the Iraqi Liberation Act in 1998 and warning that the legislation would eventually lead to an unnecessary war.

- for voting against the Iraq war and all the funding bills that followed.

- for defending civil liberties by voting against the Patriot Act and it's renewal when everyone else on both sides of the isle were tripping over themselves selling out the 4th amendment

- for spending a lifetime studying economics and monetary policy and cautioning the country of impending economic disasters years before they occur to no avail.

- for outing Pelosi and the Democrats as being the ones who removed clauses in the legislation that called on President Bush to seek approval from Congress before taking any military action against Iran.

- for refusing to bill Medicare/Medicaid out of principle and instead offered his patients discounted or free medical care.

- for refusing his lucrative Congressional pension out of principle and returning a sizable portion of his Congressional budget every year to the US treasury.

...oooh creepy huh? If that's creepy, then America needs a good spooking.

Ron Paul is a nut. He believes we should not have troops in every corner of the world. We should declare war when we fight a war and we should not invade countries that haven't threatened us. These are sick indefensible ideas.

tsk, tsk, tsk, Huffington Post.

Congressman Paul was about Constitutionality and the rule of law. It is a pity that the political discourse is so narrowly defined by people/corporations who have nothing but disdain for the middle class.

God save the Republic.

The fact that you liberals refer to McCain as "sane" compared to Ron Paul shows how much you really have in common with him. Ron Paul would have brought home our troops from Iraq ASAP, whereas Obama and McCain both would keep them there past the end of their first term.

Well people made their idiotic choice.

His admiration of people like Bob Barr and John Stossel is evidence enough of his lack of good judgment. Anyone even thinking of electing another Republican - any Republican - in this day and age - is completely out of touch (to put it mildly).

You really are uninformed. I doubt if you have ever read a single book or speech given by Ron Paul, if you had then you would not make such a damnably dumb statement, but I am sure you can have the consolation that you are not alone in such statements.

Of course, it's probably good that Ron Paul isn't elected. When the baby boomer medicare bill comes due, as the U.S. is still trying to claw it's way out of the Iraq/Iran war economic black hole, the U.S. Empire will be bankrupted, the result of years of leaders more interested in making promises than in asking the hard questions.
Remember, almost all empires have fallen because of economic, not military, reasons.
The American people will suffer greatly, as they deserve to for their decades of living beyond their means, willful ignorance, cruel wars, and electing whoever the media tells them to elect. At that point, with a bankrupt government and hyperinflation, the republic will collapse and we may well choose a dictator like Germany did in the 1930s. If we don't, we will have a chance for a fresh start. Of course, the corporations and banks will have all the money, so it will be difficult.
Good work smearing the only man who was asking any fundamental questions with vile words and smirks, while mocking the serious issues he brought up. Glad you are the #1 voice of independent internet journalism in America today. Thanks for keeping the left-right dichotomy alive long enough for the people to "go gently into that good night!"
