I'll really miss, especially this election year, him whipping out that stupid erasable board and going over the seemingly limitless possibilities for a presidential candidate to win the election. It really made me realize that, although it's a national election and every vote does 'count', that an election turns on but a handful of states. David Brooks responded to a comment by another talking head about the size of Bush's 2004 electoral plurality over Kerry by saying, "Bush won the election by 200,000 votes in Ohio." It was a point well taken, and because of Tim Russert and his passion for electoral politics and his great skill of sharing it with the rest of us, it was one I could readily understand. It really hurts to see him go.

R.I.P Tim.
Now I hope that Wolf B. & CNN would stop their childish claims of being "the best political team on television", to show respect to the late Tim Russert. He was better than all the CNN team, combined, when it comes to political reporting, period. I am shocked! My condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues. I know how it feels to loose a very loved one.

What a horribly sad Father's Day this Sunday will be for Luke and Big Russ.

My condolences go out to the family and to the colleagues at NBC news. I didn't always agree with his manner of reporting, but I hope he rests in peace and his loved ones are comforted in their grief.

I feel so sad and shitty, Russert was so listenable, so constant. Way too young to leave the party, he will be missed by me.

I dont know how to put it. Tim Russert to me symbolized everything that keeps this world going. Seasoned but decent, persistent but polite, serious but friendly. It is people like Tim that keep this world from falling apart. The rest of them are just too stupid or too mean.

I have to agree with everything you've just said. He was great and will be sorely missed.

I cannot tell you how many Sundays I have missed church or was late because of Tim Russert. There is no other show like Meet The Press—There is no other interviewer like Tim Russert--Tim made me understand politics and come to enjoy it on every level. I looked forward to Sundays because of Tim Russert.

I have never felt this kind of affection for any other public personality. I am still in shock and continue to hope this is just a bad dream. This is the best political year, and how unfortunate that Tim Russert will not witness history with us.

I loved Tim 99.9% of the time because you knew what to expect, but could not prepare for it. I hated (lack of better vocabulary) Tim that .01% of the time when he interviewed someone I deeply admired, and would dig up the inconvenient truth. Tim Russert defined journalism.

I just cannot describe this. I feel for his son, wife, father, and immediate family. Father's day is around the corner--this is not good. I pray for your family, Tim.

Your biggest fan,

Franklin

I never missed Meet The Press (it won't be the same without him). My Prayers to his family/friends.

I would like to express my condolences to the Russert family and MSNBC. I myself on Sunday watched Meet The Press and it was one of my top five for a political roundup. This was shocking news. I am trying to imagine now watching the election or Meet the Press without him. He will be sorely missed. May God Bless everyone he was able to touch during his earthly journey.
