During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel set to air Sunday night after the NBA finals, the ABC host asked Barack Obama to describe a typical father's day at his house:

We usually have some experiment with waffles or pancakes and there's a lot of cleanup afterwards...They come with stuff we wouldn't normally put on pancakes like whipped cream.... Then we go to church.

Kimmel also asked Obama if he was required to report any gifts he received. The Senator joked that he does if it's over $50, but that his children are stingy.

Does Obama really expect people to believe he eats waffles or pancakes like blue collar America? Give me a break. I'm sure he had a bowl of Kashi with non fat milk for his Father's Day breakfast.

Since when did waffles and pancakes become blue collar and Kashi and nonfat milk the opposite?! Whatever you're trying to argue is moronic.

The stuff about how Jimmy wouldn't vet as a veep choice was hilarious. Obama is more tuned into pop culture than I am. Kinda wierd to think about having a president almost the same age as me. Reminds me of when I was in my 20s & I realized all the best pitchers were younger than me.

Sen. Obama is giving a major Father's Day sermon at Apostolic Church of God in Chicago. I am trying to find out where I can watch it live. It's going on right now. Here's the church website http://www.acog-chicago.org/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

F*ckin' gag me. Can the media be salivating and panting any heavier for the next Camelot? If Michelle starts wearing Jackie O hats & sun glasses, they'll be a media orgasm in their collective pants. When's the last time you saw any real reporting or discussion about where this leftist actually stands on the issues? It's all about style, symbols, and smiles.

I've heard Obama discuss issues in depth all week. Seek and ye shall find. I also listened to McCain, but the only thing he can contribute to anything resembling Camelot is the fact that he sat at the Round Table with Lancelot.

Oh, he also contributes the fact that the surge is working. It's working, my friends; we're winning. The situation on the ground... we're winning. General Petreus, my friends... we're winning. It's working, the situation on the ground.

How about you get off his back? So what if there is a somewhat mushy Father's Day piece - isn't that what Father's Day is about? The other candidate was off taking money from people who think sexual assault is funny, or unimportant. I bet I can guess who you voted for.

Because any reporting on the family activities of any other candidate are met with scorn and ridicule. If it was a republican candidate with kids or grandkids, many people on here would make fun of the fact that the person may have money, or that they don't really go to chruch except for appearances, or that they are giving their kids fattening breakfast foods.

Yet when Obama does something like take off his jacket, or brush his teeth, inhale, exhale, sleep, put on his watch, drink water, tie a tie, crack his knuckles, or one of a million things people do every day, your swoon!

I am glad he is able to be a good Dad and spend time with his kids, but reporting things like this as news is ridiculous.

Enjoy your father's day Obama. We have some things in common, a great family life where the wife actually loves and admires her husband, and children that are stingy.

Oh well, we can't have everything, but the love and admiration of a wife is a beautifuly thing. That is why I have been married to the best man in the world, sorry Obama, his name is Jolly. I respect him to the utmost and I feel Michelle feels the same way about you. She looks at you will true love, respect, and admiration.

Enjoy your life, wife, and children.

You are more than a conquer through Christ Jesus that strengthens you, and yes you can!

I loved the 'we experiment with pancakes'....

Made me laugh because we do the same thing here. Regular ones just won't do on Father's or Mother's Day...gotta add the bananas or strawberries and whip cream in a smiley face.

He live a real life with real people. He loves his wife and those two little girls. He is going to be a wonderful President.

Pancake Smiley Face and All.

Someone asks Obama a question and he gives an answer, take it for what it is the truth! How hard is it to believe that kids make pancakes with crazy toppings for their Day on Father's Day? It happens at our house that is why I know it is not FLUFF, I can relate to the Simple TRUTH.

It may not be Glamorous But a simple sweet ordinary story NOT FLUFF. Just think about what goes on in MANY, MANY, homes on Father's and Mother's Day. Wow, Mountain of Molehill People ----STOP I SAY!!!!!

Obama needs to be seen in casual clothes... how about some casuals for a change, shorts, sneakers and a polo shirt?

Loosen the tie, or better yet, remove it all together.

OMG Please, SouthpawSass, I hope I never see Obama in a pair of shorts. Shorts are for boys not men. My father wore a tie to work everyday to work all of his life. On the weekends, he's shed the tie, but still wore a jacket. He was a gentleman through and through. There is something very dignified and graceful and about that kind of old fashion attire.

When my boyfriend came by one day wearing a pair of shorts, I told him straight out: lose the shorts or lose me. He hasn't worn shorts since. When he goes casual it's jeans and black t-shirt.

Not to throw a wet blanket on the Obama gushing butŠ
Some of the comments made here by supporters of Mr. Obama carry a tinge of (what I assume is) unconscious racism.
I ask the Liberals out there: "Is it really that hard to imagine that a black man could be a good father?"
I don"t think it is and I"m guessing many of you really don"t either, so please stop with the low-threshold observations like "he sure is articulate" because they are actually back handed criticisms that demean Barrack Obama and demonstrate your ignorant, isolated view of the world.
Judge Obama by the same standards you would judge a white candidate " I think he can compete.

Oh please! These are comments that are indicative of our awe over one of the first presidents in a long time (since Kennedy?) with little kids in a typical household! It's something new. Not something racist!

Compare and conrast with our current language-mangler-in-chief. Nothing racist about it,backhanded or otherwise, simply relief and happiness that we have a candidate that paid attention in english class. I think it's refreshing, after Dubya and Bubba before him, to have an eloquent, well-spoken candidate. Hell, it might even inspire the country to lift our discourse above the "turrist" and "nuculear" level. What could be bad about that?
