Paul was the Libertarian nominee in 1988, and many of his supporters are libertarian-minded on economic and social issues. Just before formally ending his presidential bid Thursday night, the Texas congressman praised Barr, and in a statement yesterday, Barr reciprocated.

I see Christmas is coming early this year!
O boy, O boy, O boy... We might actually get a functioning Presidency for Christmas this year, America!
C'mon Paul/Barr, pull as many votes from the gooper war-mongering xenophobes as you can. These two at least make some semblance of sense compared the the GOP "brand" candidate, and they're likely to siphon off those on the right who remember, or at least are willing to pay lip service to that silly 'piece of paper' formerly known as the "Constitution".
Has anyone asked a modern day Republican lately why the gun-totin', loud-mouthed, tough-guy 'patriots' in their ranks have turned into a pack of bedwetting sissy surrender monkeys who can't surrender their Constitutional rights fast enough to Bush/Voldemort?
Yeah, yeah, I know... The Islamofascists!!!

Bob Barr and Ron Paul will pull more supporters from MC than O - thank heaven! It's about time the repubs had their own Ralph Nader to deal with.

If Ron Paul had sought the Libertarian nomination after it was clear that he was not a viable Republican candidate, I would be truly torn about who I would vote for. It blows my mind that a large of a democracy with such a diversified population, that we really only have two schools of thought to choose from. Alternative parties are minimized by the major parties so their viewpoints can't be showcased to the majority of the American public.

The 4 presidential votes I've placed were for Ross Perot, then Harry Browne (twice), then Michael Badnarik. I cannot in good conscious vote for Bob Barr based on his record. The Libertarian party sold themselves out by nominating a semi-known name for the sole purpose of eating into Republican votes.

Fortunately, Senator Obama demonstrates the kind of leadership we need in the nation. i have no problem foregoing some of the ideas I believe in, in order to embrace the ideals that mean more at such a crucial crossroads in our nation's history.

Barr has sincerely reformed. Do note that it too 6 ballots for the LP national convention to agree to nominate Barr, and that he had to do a lot of talking.

While I don't agree with much of Paul or Barr's platform, I have to say I respect what they are trying to do, and I support anyone who will drag votes away from McCain

I don't know, Ron Paul had quite a few votes in some of those primaries. I don't know what kind of backing Barr has though. Do the repub like Barr better than McCain. What do you think? Does anybody have any idea?

I respect Ron Pauls courage to call for the end of the war even when he was being booed by the members of his party.

If I weren't drinking kool-aid from the Obama trough, I'd vote for Paul. That was a joke. I am voting for Obama for a more sensible approach to foreign policy and a better America that is grounded in research and facts, as opposed to spin.

I actually like RP (except for his creationist leanings) and his endorsement of Mr. Bob "I'm pro-life but I'm fine with my wife getting an abortion" Barr would pull votes from McCain. It's all good.

This is going to be great! Two strong libertarian voices, a progressive Democrat running on middle-class tax cuts, and John McCain, a big-spending authoritarian. On so many issues, it's going to be three against one out-of-touch fascist.

Nader trying to reinvent himself as a libertarian is just too funny for words.

Ron Paul is one of the few politicians I really do respect. His voice has been consistent over the years for limited government and true conservatism. I do disagree with many of his views, I can still respect him and his dedication to what he believes in.
