New York Times:

American and international investigators say that they have found the electronic blueprints for an advanced nuclear weapon on computers that belonged to the nuclear smuggling network run by Abdul Qadeer Khan, the rogue Pakistani nuclear scientist, but that they have not been able to determine whether they were sold to Iran or the smuggling ring's other customers.

The plans appear to closely resemble a nuclear weapon that was built by Pakistan and first tested exactly a decade ago. But when confronted with the design by officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency last year, Pakistani officials insisted that Dr. Khan, who has been lobbying in recent months to be released from the loose house arrest that he has been under since 2004, did not have access to Pakistan's weapons designs.

You know that there is no "secret" to making an atom bomb.

What it takes is an entire industry. The Manhatten Project was the single greatest industrial enterprise up to its time.

While methods of enriching uranium have improved since that time it is still an enormous industrial undertaking. Very expensive. Very technical as well.

Having designs is not the issue. (although that is not good).

Bush was telling people he will prevent Iran from having the KNOWLEDGE of how to make nuclear bombs.

That is ridiculous. Give me the ingrediants and an unlimited budget and even I could bring you a nuclear bomb.

What we need is a world where every sovereign nation does not need nuclear weapons.

It is astounding that IAEA and Bush Administration are caught blinking and their silence is sickening. Pak govt is hand in glove with AQ Khan network and unless world acts against Pak with a very heavy hand the danger the world will face against rogue regimes just is unimaginable. Bush act now against Pak. I dont hear anything from the patriot McBush on this revelation of Pak nuclear proliferation. Where are you McSame??

A 'hero', the father of Pakistan's (our great ally in the Greater Worldwide Permanent War on Terror) nuclear program, in 'loose house arrest' for selling nuclear secrets, that the Pakistanis won't let us interview.

Yet we likely have thousands of people rounded up around the world, many on false evidence, or bounties paid to warlords, without charge, indefinitely.

Hooray! We're winning!
If winning is losing.

This is happening because we took our eyes off afganastan and the real war on terrorism, and went and started a war we had no bussiness being in! No one would listen to Obama and people like him, who tried to tell them that BUSH/CHANNEY War would cause more terrorism and put us in more danger and endanger afganastan and pakistan even more! we'll they have been ritght all along, and now this country is thinking about makeing another Bush mistake in continueing his policy for America by makeing mccain president. Don't we ever learn our lesson?

The US and Pakistan's behavior regarding Khan and his operation points to their complicity.

It would be very interesting to see if this ties in at all with what Sibel Edmonds knows. Perhaps proper investigations into her allegations can start now?

Should have stopped at the first sentence, before you made yourself into a pooper-scooper.

Look to our own government to be behind this. Cheney and his puppet need the war war in Iran to start before they leave office. They must destroy the U.S. before they leave for Paraguay with their billions.

Oh yeah... I forgot, Israel told it to.

The first nuclear device that is going to go off in a western city of some kaffir nation is going to come with a "Made in Pakistan/Iran" tag, thanks to AQ Khan. This rogue of a scientist with a jihadi mentality needs to be interrogated by the IAEA or some such similar organisation, so that Pakistan's role in the proliferation of nuclear weapons is brought to light.

Another stellar example of the Bush administrations elephant in a China shop strategy.

Are we sure . . . or is this (yet) another planted, BushCo propaganda attempt designed to scare the easily scared ?
Hmmmmm . . .
Let's see if the MSM asks the tougher questions, that delve a little deeper into the reliability of these "timely" disclosures.

More evidence that the world must take the threat of rogue nations and terrorists acquiring and using nuclear bombs.

America has a pretty amazing way of picking her allies.

Saudi Arabia supplies 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9-11: ALLY!

Pakistan creates/supports the Taliban, sells nuclear materials, designs to terrorists: ALLY!

Iraq does NEITHER of the above: ENEMY!
