Luke Russert

Tim Russert's son Luke, acknowledged by all who knew him as the pride of Tim's life, appeared on the "Today" show Monday morning to remember his dad. Luke and his mom, Maureen Orth, were in Italy on Friday when Tim collapsed at NBC's Washington bureau and died — and while they have relayed messages through close family friends (like Mike Barnicle), this is the first public appearance either has made.

What a poised and wonderful kid!
I am impressed by the sincere humanity expressed by some of these NBC newscasters.
It is very touching and somehow surprising.
RIP Tim Russert. You will be missed!

Tim Russert will be remembered as one of the most successful person, not because of his job , which of course he loved and was very good at it, but as a one to whom his family comes first.

What a gift and an example Russert left for his Son and his fellow journalists in his short life and everyone who knew Tim.

First a Father and then a Journalist.

This young man was amazing. I sat and watched him talk about his dad, his dad's work, his dad's love with such confidence and without shedding a tear. I almost fell back when I saw the photo of him touching the chair that his dad sat in every Sunday. What a sudden and tragic loss. I know I will miss him. I always though he had eyes like Garfield the cat.

What an articulate young man and so poised considering the circumstances. His parents did a great job raising him.

I have been so touched watching the remembrances and while I never met Mr. Russert he seemed just as people described him: fair, asking the questions I wanted answered and an all around good guy. He'll be greatly missed. I can't imagine election night without him. He was like a kid and his enthusiasm for this election was contagious!

When does the period of national mourning end? The guy was a reporter, not a president.

Thank you for saying what many people are thinking but not willing to admit.

But what is the point of saying that, even if you are thinking it? Somethings you should just keep to yourself. Show a little class.

Shame on you. Let us mourn the passing of this man! I can only hope that our next President Barack Obama can maintain the level of honesty and integrity of Tim Russert. I have faith that he can and he will.

No. He wasn't just a reporter. He was a great son, Father and husband first, he was an author, a friend, a boss like no other, a decent human being, an icon, an intellect, a national figure and a reformer. He was so much more than a reporter that it makes your reduction of his life' work laughable. He is being remembered for the great man that he was by people that knew him and were affected by him. Apparently you don't notice the finer humans in life when they are here, much less when they are gone.

Tim was my age and what a shock. it rocks you to the core. I'm sure his son will be good at whatever he decides to do.

I wonder how Tim's dad (Big Russ) is doing. He is the one that I worry about.

I can see why Tim spoke so fondly of his son Luke. I hope Luke will follow in his father's foot-steps and continue his father's legacy. Go get them Luke!

Did Tim Russert have a mother? Of all the coverage I watched this week-end, I didn't hear one mention of his mother. Does anyone know anything about her? I'm really interested because she may have had a role in Tim's upbringing.
