Patti Solis Doyle, Former Clinton Campaign Manager, Hired By Obama Camp

***UPDATE*** The Obama campaign has sent out a press release highlighting a swath of new hires as they gear up for the general election campaign. One name on the list which sticks out is Patti Solis Doyle, the former campaign manager for Hillary Clinton. Doyle will fill the role of chief of staff to the vice presidential nominee.

Politico reports that Obama is expanding his campaign staff in Florida and Chicago:

Jim Messina, Max Baucus's chief of staff, is coming on board in Chicago with the title chief of staff, to help administer the growing operation with David Plouffe.

And Steve Schale, whom Adam Smith describes as a "hot shot," will run Obama's Florida operation

Obama has also hired a major Minnesota player to be his state director: Jeff Blodgett, the former campaign manager of Senator Paul Wellstone.

I hope someone is monitoring Doyle's work for awhile. It seemed like the Clinton campaign was laying some heavy blame on her, saying she overspent and ignored the bills being overdue. Some few die-hards will be left behind, immersed in their own dissatisfaction-- and some will be played by Mc Cain's cynical operation. But not enough to matter. As I said weeks ago when her possible addition to the Obama Team was mentioned, welcome aboard Ms. Patti Solis-Doyle! I strongly feel adding Ms. Solis-Doyle to the Obama Express is a wonderful idea. She’s very intelligent, educated, knows the campaigning business, she’s well accomplished, well-established and respected and, perhaps a possible side benefit to the Obama camp, she’s Hispanic. It wouldn’t hurt Obama to have a high-profile Hispanic woman in a high-profile position in his campaign (and perhaps in his Administration). Remember our 50-state strategy folks! The states of VA (13), CO (9), NM (5), NV (5), GA (15) equals 46 Electoral Votes...th­e same as FL and OH combined if we lose them both to the Repugs.

I know some fellow Obama supporters are worried having a long-time Clintonista and campaign team operative like Ms. Solis-Doyle on the Obama Team. For those who’re worried or hate the idea, let’s get real folks. Ms. Solis-Doyle, Plouffe, Axelrod, Penn…these people all know each other and have either worked for or around each other for many years. We should trust Obama’s leadership and the magnificent expertise of Plouffe and Axelrod to carry forth Obama’s campaign and use Ms. Solis-Doyle in the most productive, visible capacity. Remember good folks…Yes We Can! Don’t give in to despair, hatred or worry of Ms. Solis-Doyle. Leave that attitude for the embittered Clinton supporters.

Why wouldn't the VP get to pick their own chief-of-staff? Solis Doyle is very close to Hillary and this screams to me that Hillary is going to be tabbed. However since Hillary wouldn't want the drama spoiled and would want to be announced first, I'm thinking that Clinton is playing hard to get and Obama made this hire to try and entice Clinton onto the ticket.

I hope I am reading it wrong, but I don't think I am.

In the campaign, the VP candidate does as instructed with the staff assigned by the head of the ticket.

Since Hlllary fired Solis-Doyle, their relationship is frosty at best. They haven't spoken since the firing.

This hire is an indication that it won't be Hlllary on the ticket----if she is playing "hard to get," she's made yet another stupendous blinder.
