Rove

Mother Jones:

In a new National Journal article (not available online), writer Peter Stone dives deep into the conservative establishment and gets campaign staffers, movement operatives, and the ubiquitous "strategists" and "consultants" to talk about Karl Rove's current role in presidential politics. The takeaway? Rove is back. In fact, he probably never left. The campaign that is trying to prove it's not a second coming of George W. Bush is using the President's former chief strategist on a regular basis.

Stone says not to be fooled by Rove's hesitance to be identified with John McCain publicly.

...away from the spotlight, Rove has been busy pitching in by giving informal advice to McCain's team and spending a considerable amount of time as an outside adviser to Freedom's Watch, the conservative political group that is expected to spend tens of millions of dollars to help elect House GOP candidates. William Weidner, a Freedom's Watch board member, recently told National Journal that Rove has offered strategic advice to both the group and its major financial backer, Las Vegas casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson. Weidner, president of the Las Vegas Sands Corp., which Adelson chairs, called Rove "an invaluable asset" to the group....

There are so many complicitous co-neo-cons in this fetid mess of a country at this time, that the cost of gasoline, alone, to haul them off to confinement, would surely bankrupt this dollar-weakening country. No wonder the Dems sit and smile prettily, while the country is continued to be looted.

He gets it. McCain just thinks he's poison for the OTHER guy.

Which he is. He'll be a loyal henchman as always for his chosen Repub.

What's the hullaballoo with this guy? He's is an over rated, over hyped schemer who has had the White House cover his idiotic stunts, but he is slowly but surely approaching time behind bars

He's a goddamn traitor who has too many friends in such high places that he could escape indictment on exposing a covert CIA operative. He is without morals. All of which means he is to be feared.

DO NOT be lulled into complacency about Rove.
As long as he's out of jail, he's a DANGEROUS enemy of Democracy.

Of course he never left! Pinky can do far more damage on the loose.

Now, there's no government oversight. DUH! Mr. Stone.

The House is going to have to indict him and get a gag order to shut him up.

Karl hasn't been all that inspiring of late. I think his shtick is pretty much out of style now. It's too easy to get good information sources that refute his bs, and people are just automatically calling him on it now, anyway. He's winding down as a failure, a very satisfying end to as corrosive an influence as has ever emerged on the American political scene.

We've got your playbook, Karl. It's parlor games. You ain't so smart, my man. You're going down.

This is the man responsible for giving us the WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY, now he's trying to give us the NEXT WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY.

I'm beginning to think McBush is worse than Bush................he flip-flops so often I have NO IDEA where he actually stands on the issues. It seems like he'll say anything, whenever and wherever. At least WE KNEW where Bush stood from the beginning.

I don't know if McCain could be as bad as Reagan. It's Reagan's legacy that screwed up the country in an enduring way.

Why is the sleazeball (1) paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by a 527 while advising McCain; (2) on Fox as a commentator; (3) a McCain advisor and accepted as a legitimate political pundit?

By all measures, this lying, cheating criminal who outed a covert CIA agent for political purposes SHOULD BE IN PRISON!

At the very least, the sight of him on the public airwaves should elicit revulsion and protests. That he is accepted in these role, ethical conflicts and all, is just appalling.

No, of course not, why would you prefer intelligence, decency and compassion over the stupid, belligerent and greedy approach? I'm sure you have your reasons for that, eh?
