Monday night's "Verdict" with Dan Abrams featured its nightly takedown of "media hypocrisy, agendas and the perils of live tv" in "Beat the Press." First up was a clip of Cal Thomas on Fox News discussing the "angry" black women frequently portrayed on television in a segment on Michelle Obama. Later, a CNN anchor was befuddled about the link between flushing toilets, water and fire.

I am in no way a fan of Cal Thomas. However, we seem to be glossing over the fact that while, I as a black woman, understand the anger that lies in some of us, the meaness is downright disturbing. I live in Detroit, and I see meaness everyday displayed by black women either at work or in everyday life. The kids seem to take the brunt of it. I have seen babies spanked and yelled at (they don't understand you) I have seen 2 yr olds yanked and jerked about like rag dolls. I have heard the endless bragging at work of how they f--ked up their kids for spilling milk on fresh carpet, slapped for not turning in home work, the list is endless--yes, all black women, Fighting-with fists-at work? In my office (claims adjuster) I have seen this behavior from black women, some smart, degreed women. I am not lying. It hurts, and it's painful to see so many sisters who are in obvious need of counseling-but in our community that's not being strong-you're weak if you need to see a shrink. In the mean time the kids suffer and the cycle continues.
Well, I've seen and heard the same at Walmart. And it's not restricted to black women and their children either. I've taught at TAPP programs ( Teenage pregnancy schools), and parenting styles differ among all races. The angry black woman is a stereotype, useful for Repubs to exclaim how "different" we are. Divisive politics is what got us in this condition we're in today.
The overt racism of Fixed Noise is not only troubling, it's unsettling. How can this crap be allowed on TV?
