They better get permission from Spike Lee.
After the horrible star wars prequels and lame Indiana Jones sequel I seriously question this man's judgement anymore.
Somehow he has believed his own press and it shows!
I hope he has enough sense to not make all of the airmen's voices sound like Jar Jar Binx. He's been in enough racial troubles already. I think they were making fun of George Lucas in one of the Nuttcups videos on Digitalfun
Good for Mr. Lucas. Now when it's all said and done he can call up Spike Lee and tell him to shut his face. Oh and make sure you Clint on a three way will. Oh if it's so important to Lee how come he hasnt make a picture about the Tuskegee Airmen? It's because he'd rather complain about something than actually do something about it. I use to like Spike but he is just a little cry baby with a boo-hoo poor me thing going on. Get over yourself Spike. Maybe you should do a movie with all white actors so you can call Clint and tell him to shut his face.
When you finish your impressive public display of ignorance I would advise you to prance down to your local Blockbuster and rent A few Spike Lee films which, despite what you claim, show a dedication to diversity in casting and a level of storytelling that is probably a bit beyond your grasp. Give it a shot anyway. You'll find that Mr Lee's failures are far better than most directors successes.

Mr Lucas, just remember the airmen were black.....
OK, Huffpost moderators. I won't use the "D" word anymore, and ignore the hundreds of post you approve that routinely do. Seems your banning policy is very selective.
Sincerely,

There was a Tuskegee Airmen film done already. So this isn't the first time it was done. I can't wait to see it though with todays effects. With Lucas backing this the budget should be pretty nice as well.
You're right. That was in the early 90s and lacked the big budget treatment a George Lucas can bring to it though. Would a redo or similar story about black tankers in Europe been considered if (black directors) Spike Lee, Lee Daniels, or Bill Duke had a plan for one? I seriously doubt it.
George Lucas makes his own movies and has total creative control. The studios have nothing to do with it, other than as distributors.
Let's just hope it's factual. That none of them were infected by the government, and most of the observations took place before penicillin. Wouldn't want to perpetuate old lies against the government, especially as it was under the "Progressive" presidents and their administra
uh yeah, history lesson... the Tuskegee Airmen were the first black fighter win in WWII... all black, segregated army and all that... the record is unparalleled. They never lost a bomber under their escort and took massive casualties while doing it. Already a pretty good movie out there if you are interested.
The Tuskegee experiment was when black men infected with syphilis were allowed to get sick and continue to remain sick even though there were cures available for treatment. This was done to examine the effects the disease had on the body and the mind. Yeah, all black victim, yeah they let them die, yeah, they could have treated them, yeah they chose not to. Read a friggin book. 399 men who could have been treated but were not.
i love how u demonize "they"
I think you are confussing Tuskege Air Men with Tuskegee Syphilis Study
Tuskegee Syphilis Study - is a true event in the history of this country sad but true check the links below
http://en.
http://www
Tuskegee Air Men - is also True story
Looks like you need to get your facts straight.
I heard that Clint Eastwood is going to direct and that there will be no black people in the film.
Or....... That could just be another rumor star ed by Spike Lee who is trying to get attention.
"Feeling lucky ?"
He may still get criticized for doing this film as Clint Eastwood did when he did "Bird"...
I hope to god he just writes the checks and lets someone else write the script and direct the film. Otherwise his stilted dialogue and hamfisted directing will suck the life out of what should be a facinating subject.
As big of Star Wars fan (both original and prequel) and Indiana Jones fan I am I couldn't agree more. I just hope he's producing this and not director and most certainly not writing it. Lucas has "vision" but he does best when partnered with someone else and not doing the work by himself.
