Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg has been busy promoting his M. Night Shyamalan movie "The Happening," and he slammed George Clooney along the way.

Wahlberg had the following exchange with an interviewer from UK's Zoo Today about the part he gave up in the "Ocean's" movie, a part that ended up being played by Matt Damon.

Is it true you turned down the chance to be in the Ocean's films?

Yeah - and it was well worth it! The second one sucked! People tell George Clooney it's great, but we all know it sucked. I made two bad movies instead - Planet Of The Apes and The Truth About Charlie - but doing that was better than sitting with Brad and George, telling the press how great everybody is! "We were in Europe, George was funny, then we had some wine..." - that's not for me. I do love those guys, but I had to step out on my own.

Totally loved all the oceans movies. They're fast paced, light hearted, and at least allows me to pretend I am one of them, about to get fabulously rich and laughing all the way to the bank. GO GEORGE AND GO MATT!!

I hated the first one so never saw another. I also despised the original with Frank Sinatra in it. Not my kind of entertainment, I guess. I do like Mark Wahlberg and think he is a very good actor with the right material. He stole the show in The Departed. I think he is just outspoken, no harm done.

Mark is right in that the second Ocean's was pretty bad; however, those that live in glass houses really shouldn’t throw stones. Mark Walberg is probably one of the worst actors of our generation. Don't believe me? Just go see The Happening: a complete waste of $10.75.

Yeesh, if/when movies get to be that expensive here, I won't have a reason not to just buy every movie I want to see on DVD.

You'd best check out "The Departed" then remove that foot from your mouth. He's not bad.

The Happening still sucks though.

Can't say anything bad about my man Eddie Jemison who plays Livingston Dell in the Oceans movies. One of the best character actors in the biz. You go, Eddie!

Too serious, Mark, lighten up. Have some fun, as they did in the movies.

Wahlberg is off base. ALL of those Ocean's movies sucked. They're typical Soderbergh pandering to demographics. Seizure-inducing editing, a bunch of cute guys, exotic locale, it's all Hollywood fluff. Clooney makes his money with this junk, then makes his own movies. I guess it balances out for him. And a lot of people love those crummy blockbusters. So, whatever.

Those remakes really are awful, as are most of them.

Mark Wahlberg is a top notch actor ~ right up there with the Clooney crowd! I love Clooney and his films in general but you have to admit the Ocean's films have a short scope! They are great fun but nothing important.

Mark played a bartender turned pro football receiver in a recent movie, "Invincible?"

Mark, the whole movie sucked. Mark, you specifically, weren't believable as a woefully short, NFL receiver.

Don't take a part as an NBA center, either.

Guess Marky hasn't been invited to play in any recent Clooney projects and is feeling lonely and neglected. After this, I don't think Marky will be getting any invites to any future projects either.

Well it did. It stunk as bad as the original Rat Pack fiasco. The third wasn't great but the second was one of those "they were having sucha great time on the set they forgot to make a movie" movies otherwise usually associated with Burt Reynolds.

Truth about Charlie on the other hand was... interesting. Not great, but it was like a French New Wave film, taking time out to double back on its own form; playing with genre and 4th wall expectations. It disappointed if you just wanted an action chase film, but it had its own charm.

Whereas Ocean 12 stunk.

Is every little statement a "SLAM!!!!" I wish the press would quite hyperbolizing absolutely everything. This quote is completely mild and meaningless. It wasn't a slam in the least.
