Mark Wahlberg Slams The "Ocean's" Movies: "The Second One Sucked!"

Mark Wahlberg has been busy promoting his M. Night Shyamalan movie "The Happening," and he slammed George Clooney along the way.

Wahlberg had the following exchange with an interviewer from UK's Zoo Today about the part he gave up in the "Ocean's" movie, a part that ended up being played by Matt Damon.

Is it true you turned down the chance to be in the Ocean's films?

Yeah - and it was well worth it! The second one sucked! People tell George Clooney it's great, but we all know it sucked. I made two bad movies instead - Planet Of The Apes and The Truth About Charlie - but doing that was better than sitting with Brad and George, telling the press how great everybody is! "We were in Europe, George was funny, then we had some wine..." - that's not for me. I do love those guys, but I had to step out on my own.

Not sure why actors get drawn into these meaningless debates. Wahlberg has done some decent work, but he is not in Clooney's league yet. Clooney has matured from a pretty boy into a thoughtful filmmaker. Wahlberg needs to sit through The Happening again before he starts critiquing others.

Nobody likes to hear that their work isn't good. But at least he's trying to hold himself to a standard.

Hollywood makes a lot of garbage. But the reality is that making a great movie, or even a good one, is really hard to do. It's not easy to tell before you make a film, or when you're making it, how it will turn out.

Think about Star Wars - wookies and robots and a death star... It sounds ridiculous.

well it's kinda true. i think he meant the third installment sucked. the second was not bad. the first one is a classic -- one of my fav heist movies.

He forgot to mention THREE KINGS. That one sucked the most. I actually walked out of that one and then demanded, and got, my money back. You know they know it is bad when they agree to do that!

This is hardly a Slam. He is expressing his views, and not sparing himself from a bashing. We need to get away from encouraging people to only say positive things about Art....it makes it all become crap.

Oceans 12 and 13 needed more Carl Reiner and Don Cheadle (sp?), and less George/Brad/Matt.

Nothing wrong with expressing an opinion- Walhberg had done some great flicks and some that total P.O.S.

Just like all the biggest hollywood stars. Usually the really great popular actors are the ones that take chances and do a lot of different material. Walhberg, Clooney, Pitt, Cheadle all fit into that catergory.
