Hillary Clinton will join Barack Obama for a joint appearance in Washington next week to persuade her donors to begin giving to the Democrats' nominee, the Daily News has learned.

It's the first known plan to bring together the victor and vanquished from the Democrat primary race and put their pledges of unity for the fall campaign into action.

Jonathan Mantz, Clinton's national finance director, sent top Clinton fundraisers an e-mail today inviting them to the event on June 26.

"As we move forward, we invite you to join us for a National Finance Committee meeting with both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on Thursday, June 26th in Washington, D.C., to discuss how we can work together to support Barack Obama and the Democratic Party," Mantz wrote.

"Hillary ran for President because she wants to put this country on the right track," Mantz wrote.

"She continues to fight and stand strong for our values and priorities and will do everything she can to unify the party and to elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States."

So what ! CNN, and Lannie Davis are really happy about this that's the only thing on their biased blog this am. I still don't trust Hillary because the Republicans are already using the smear that she made against Obama during her "scorched earth" primary campaign. Remember when she said that only she and John McCain had passed the commander and chief test? That's why now they are calling Barack naive for advocating diplomacy. More fear helped by Hillary.

HRC will do what the DNC wants her to do.......................unite the party.
Without her and her supporters he will loose!

Why do you think Obama is trying to change the electorial map.

He needs Ohio, PA, etc.

Let the DNC do their JOB!

But will Hillary specifically encourage the Obama-haters, those rabid women, and those racist "hardworking white Americans" that voted for her, to get behind the Democratic ticket? This, for me, is the test of Hillary's courage and integrity.

Giuliani on Morning Joe quoting Hillary a couple of times on Obama's lack of experience and being naive... Claiming that Hillary said it herself, and he quoted her exact words regarding Obama.

And you know this will be coming up again and again. If only Hillary had thought more about the overall picture and less about smashing Obama for herself, it would have given the Repubs less to shoot with...

Thanks Hill and Bill...

She needs to do MUCH more than that. She needs to have her staff send a press release to every major newspaper and media outlet in those states where "hardworking white Americans" voted for her, asking them as hardworking white Americans to support Obama and describing what their lives under a John McCain presidency would be.

She needs to contact every one of those internet sites that have erupted since she lost the nomination who are calling for women to vote for John McCain as a punishment against Obama. She needs to tell them that this is NOT what she wants, that their lives under a John McCain presidency will be no different and in some ways worse than it has been under GW Bush.

She "owned" and influenced these two groups during her campaign, and she needs to use that influence to turn them toward Obama.

We may not like her but give me a break she got just as many votes as he did that means she is the other half of the party and we need to stop this kind of attack this election is too important for us to continue to engage in this pettiness its not who Obama is. Its time to let this go.

On really positive days, this campaign is starting to resemble the "unity" between the Kennedys and Jimmy Carter. No doubt Hillary will be handing Obama lifesavers he needs, regardless of familiar tributes along the way. Meanwhile, W. has noted the need to shore up the levies in Iowa, as he backs his former rival. Note that Reagan got passes for his flubs, and with McCain's age, he will get similar courtesy for his flaws from our "liberal" MSM. Net result: McCain cruises thru the torrents, Obama founders near the shores.

Oh yeah, good luck with that one. This story presents it a different way.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_obama_meeting
The hiring of Doyle is going to become the DUMBEST thing Obamas camp has done. Actually, it is such a stupid slap in the face to Clinton and her supporters it may prove to be the one thing that undoes his chance for victory in November, that is UNLESS HE plans on making Clinton his running mate, which now seems unlikely. Bill Burton is running under a deluded assumption that all 18 million Clinton supporters will arrive at the polls, hand in hand with big grins on their faces looking all foggy eyed like most Obama converts, and vote for him. He is at this point, with the moves they are making, SADLY MISTAKEN.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:22 AM on 06/18/2008

I'm choosing to think that HC and Doyle reconciled and the press is unaware of it.

After all, these are the same people that sat outside of HC's house for 5 hours reporting about the secret meeting when it was miles away.

Just a theory, we'll see.

I've thought the same thing...who knows! Who's to say that their hate was even true!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:57 AM on 06/18/2008

Clinton and Doyle did not reconcile. Doyle was very angry about bing fired and offered her services to Obama BEFORE the final primaries. That just isn't done. It's a slap ;in the fact to Clinton. That Obama would hire her to head a campaign for the VP when no one knows who that will be is ludicrous. He certainly didn't hire her for her skills, which are negative. Insider supporters of Clinton interpret that as his slap in the face to Clinton. Insiders also believe that Doyle was a big contributor to Purdum's Vanity Fair hatchet piece on Bill.

The Democratic Party is falling apart, and maybe it deserves to.

Any Democrat who fails to support the nominee is a low born traitor to the party.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:01 AM on 06/18/2008

Thousands of Obama supporters booing Hillary last night when Granholm mentioned her name made me wonder if traitor to the party goes both ways. They sure sounded like traitors to party unity, at the minimum. They may vote Obama, but I wonder how many of them have fidelity to the Democratic Party. I think the next rock star in the Republican Party might sway those more invested in the individual than his policies and whether you want to admit it or not, there are many who are just infatuated with the man and his good looks and his smile and the fact that he is a biracial/black is pulling in a lot of folks who really cannot articulate what he stands for, too. At least you know why you are supporting him as related to policies as I have read many of your cogent posts, but both of us have read many posts that sound more like the women who loved Elvis or John Lennon in their fawning responses and extreme adulation adn idolotry.

People like this know nothing abouyt party unity, they are just wheeler-dealers. Worse, for it's a kind of blackmail. A true democrat will not put forward conditions like this.

Fully 60 percent of Clinton voters are committed to Obama now. Another 20 percent will vote Democractic because they really don't pay attention, and voted for Bill Clinton in the primary, and he's not on the ballot in November. The other 20 percent are bitter, mean and dishonest like Hillary herself, and want politics as war. If they vote, it will be for Obama. If they stay home, it will be bette rfor the nation and their absence will be more than offset by new voters inspired by Obama in legions.

Catering to Hillary and her malcontents is a no winner. Obama should be Obama, stick to the high road with vision, integrity, charisma, ideas, and call for unity. Let McCain throw mud, explain Bush, promote the war and environmental disaster, show his lack of understanding of current facts, the internet, issues of the future, and defeat himself.

This election is too important for distractions with counterproductive he won she won arguments. If Clinton supporters want to vote for McCain, there is nothing anyone can do about it. In the end, I believe the majority of women in the Democratic Party will support Barack Obama. Those who refuse to support him probably never had any intention. The primary is merely the excuse.

I am thankful that Senator Clinton is moving forward to unite the Party. Obama and Clinton need each other.

For unity (and Obama) to have a chance it's necessary that the Democratic Party recognize that Hillary Clinton is now a force in the party. Of all the votes cast, she got at least half. If Clinton isn't given the respect and deference at the convention (and beyond), that she earned during the campaign her supporters (like me) will be very angry.

"Neutral" Nancy Pelosi waged her power struggle aqgainst Clinton early in the campaign by having her closest California colleagues come out for Obama - very early in the campaign.

Pelosi, Kennedy, Daschle, etc. had better realize that Clinton power still exists - this time the power is primarily Hillary's, not Bill's.

She doesn't have much seniority in the Senate, but a place better be set for her at the table because 18 million votes in a primary season is something that cannot be ignored.

This woman's life is beginning all over again at sixty. Hillary Clinton may have lost the race for the nomination, but she comes out of this as a person of Great Expectations.

What a woman!

I, for one, would be surprised if Obama does not choose Hillary Clinton for his running mate.

If you look at the field of possibilities objectively, it's clear that there really is no one in her league.

(And I don't see having President Clinton around to offer ideas and advice as a negative, either. I thought he was one hell of a president, and still do.)

It's time to stop the ridiculous bickering and get behind the dream ticket..

I agree. As hard as the bubble of the primary was for the two camps - it says something. There is enormous passion for both candidates, something that K-erry and even G-ore did not have. Sure we all feel very fondly towards him now, but at the time many were luke warm about G-ore on an excitement level. The same with K-erry.

in reality these two actually balance each other out very well. If they get along as well as they are rumored to and can put the campaign behind them, I hope it happens. None of the other VP candidates come close to HC in terms of support in the right places.

I'm really not looking forward to the bore of hearing any of the other VP's candidates blather on in a debate.

I want HC to debate Mc-Sames VP pick - she will kick A$$!

She is good at reminding people that O bama is black?

Please. She would be the worst choice he could make, and he is not going to make that catastrophic mistake.

Stay out of the Clinton's marriage. Who cares if she tolerated a serial philanderer. Why is that poignant? It wasn't when the Repubs tried for Bill's impeachment, and it isn't now.

I can look at Obama with my own eyes, and that shows, tells, and reminds me that he's one of us (at least halfway if you wanna be technical).
