Charlie Sheen Apologizes For Calling Denise Richards N-Word

Charlie Sheen is apologizing for a three-year-old voicemail that ex Denise Richards made public.

The voicemail included a curse-filled rant from Sheen calling Richards - the mother of their two young daughters Sam, 4, and Lola, 3 - a "f--king c--t" and a "f--king n----r."

In response, the Two and a Half Men star said in a statement released Wednesday, "I deeply apologize by my choice of words to all I have obviously offended; especially to Tony Todd, an African-American, who was my best man at my first two weddings."

Sheen added, however, that "three and one-half years later, the reasons that caused the anger and frustration displayed on that voice mail continue to be manifested on a daily basis" because "my children did not show up today for a custodial visit without explanation."

This is what I'd call a fake apology. He doesn't apologize to her. He doesn't regret using the f-word or the c-word, nor the n-word. The only thing he admits to is that it is "obviously offending" to "some" and "especially" his best man. (Blushing flowers, one should think, from the tone of his "apology", imagine there's people being sooo stupidly sensitive they're offended, let's say we're sorry and get it over with, yeah, it's done.) Excuse me. Apologizing for your choice of word, but not for the reasons you chose them is what is offending. Hearing those words used as abuse is what offends me. What one senses from the use of them (as abuse) is that one is to be considered less valuable as a woman (the c-word) or as black (the n-word) than one is as a white man. And those implications are what he should be apologizing for.
That said, I feel sorry for the kids having the problems in THEIR private lives publicized, non stop - through a reality show as well as having their parents fight over them in public, as they keep babblng about them, sharing intimate details about them, to anyone remotely willing to read or watch or listen....

I seriously think that the only thing that will solve this whole Sheen / Richards problem is for her to marry me and let me make sweet, sweet love to her all of the time.

Well the one thing most people can publicly agree on is that racism is bad...even if they participate in it behind closed doors.

Sexist bullying however goes unnoticed; any man that refers to the mother of his children as a c*** (McCain pay attention) is nothing but a sexist bully...the name calling is the first step towards domestic violence. Men find the name calling funny or amusing but it isn't. Again, to divorce yourself from the fact that this woman bore you children and abuse her verbally because of some petty grievance is pathological and immature.

She released this tape because he wanted his daughters necklaces kept at his home. Thats just freakin nut. People who get divorced, going through custody can and will say some horrid things to each other. I'm sure she has given as much as she has got. What bothers me is that making this information public in the age of the internet gaurantees that her children will read about this. She seems to hate him, more than she loves her kids. That is a shame.

I know this is silly to bring up in a post about Sheen and Richards, but n****r, ancestry and all....

We all have this little code in our bodies called DNA. And in the past thirty years experts have gotten pretty good at tracing our personal DNA (and RNA, a simliar code), back in time, from relative to relative.

And it turns out - and there is no controversy about this, nobody jumping up and down saying its wrong - that you can trace back in time who is related to who, from little changes that pop up in the code over time. Great, great grandparents give us their unique bits of code, just as they got theirs from still more distant relatives.

Today, they can look back centuries, and further, and for a fee, will even tell you who in the world you're related to, where your most distant ancestry came from.

So, here's the punchline. It's now known that every human walking the planet today is the child of ancient parents who once lived in the heart of Africa, black ancestors. It's in your code, your blood, your history. Some wear it more proudly than others. In some, it's nearly invisible.

My point is, it's time we quit thinking and acting like we're in the 18th century. No more denial. No more division. Racial hatred is self hatred, nothing less. It's time we lived respectfully with ourselves.

When I was in grade school I was playing soccer at my school. After making a very good play against someone I had been classmates with for two years (white) he walked pass me and called me a stupid N-word. This guy had slept at my house ... ate food from my table ... and had even been defended by my older brother at a time when he was about to get his butt kicked by some other white guys who didn't like his choice of friends. From that day forward I knew what my dad meant when he said trust them only as far as you can see them. Till this day I have yet to meet one who has proved him wrong. I will not say all ... But I would love to meet one before I die. Doubt it though ... when it comes down to it they will all stick together and demean anyone who is different ... even among themselves.

I'm sorry for your father and for you; it seems you have never met a decent "white" person. I know many people who don't engage in "group think". Instead they treat all people as individuals. We are all humans. The only ones I can't tolerate are fools and bigots of any color or creed.

Believe it or not ... I hope you are right on this one!!! But don't feel sorry ... we manage ... My father had the hardships of his time ... I have mine ... Somehow we survive and prosper. The worst thing I have to deal with is the possible loss of the best man for the job of President due to this ignorance. My dad was almost killed for being a black man traveling through a neighborhood he had no choice but to traverse for work. I guess it will get better ... eventually!!!
