Oh, comon. I thought he was funny...
eeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!
ccccccrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppyyyyyyyy!!!
I think the point really is that McCain today isn't nearly that on the ball. I was absolutely struck by how much more vague and addled he seems now compared to just those few years ago. There's a big difference in 66 and 72 for him, obviously.
Come on, people: Yes Obama's great, yes I'm voting for him -- that's no accomplishment, as anyone in their right mind would. But this sketch is brilliant, showing McCain at his best: a guy willing to mock himself, on SNL, playing a cheesy daytime actor playing an overtly doting husband.. a double-whammy role, and clearly the antithesis of who the Senator actually is.
Doing comedy like this is bold and endearing, nothing else. You try it. And to even suggest Crossfire meant to use it against McCain, and/or to endlessly bicker and gossip about how "creepy" McCain "obviously" must be (the guy's acting for pete's sake) is just Grade A 527-style behavior. Enough already.
Please people, you're called to think higher than that on this site, even this blog, and do nothing for Obama by behaving like '04 GOP heads. Begging you now.
I usually try not to write to just say that something was a waste of time, because of the obvious irony of wasting time commenting on something that was a waste of time, but that was a waste of time.
Um, you guys do realize that this sketch was a parody of Lifetime movies, right? I mean I'm in no way plannng on voting for McCain, but this is a stretch to use against him.
How is it that the guy never looks comfortable reading a speach, but can 'act' creepy so comfortably? Hmmm.....
Oh my lord. There are some images that are burned in your brain forever. That's one of them.
That said, I don't think he should be criticized for this: he was just performing on a show. If we're going to tear him apart over it, we have to do the same for progressive icon Al Franken. I'm not willing to do that either.
Missed his calling for sure!
He has gone down hill since then. My pharmacist would not fill a prescription unless he conferred with his doc. That blank stare.
And Mary Cheney playing the wife-double eeeewwwwww
Whoa!
