Viagra helps you concentrate on pleasing your partner instead of worrying about your erection. It's a good thing.

I think it's the "worrying about your erection" part that is eliciting ridicule from the over 30 crowd. I am under thirty and I find the idea of needing chemical help ridiculous too.

You people keep using the word "need" and nobody (under 30) is arguing that it is a necessity. Some people, however, do need it I'm sure, but the vast majority use it recreationally. It's no different than using weight gainer to enhance your performance at the gym or using octane booster to improve your car's performance or using firefox to improve your browser performance. You live in America just like I do, please don't act like you're free of impurities.

wow.. lots of ignorance here about what viagra does and doesn't do. it can help to get a firmer erection and help to maintain one, but it still requires the same old 'encouragement' to set things in motion. it doesn't replace romance, it's not an aphrodisiac, it's just a little blue helper. sad to see so much anti-male and moralizing comments here. a young guy may not 'need' it, but if he wants to try it, what's it to you ?

You want to know what I think? I think the statement that "more young men are using Viagra"; is a publicist's work to generate millions of dollars, which its puffing generated when Viagra first came out.
Viagra is totally the opposite of what they advertise. Yes, it makes a man work, where it counts,
but because it is artificial, there is no gain in pleasure or anything else. Pleasure comes
out of the feeling of tenderness that another person awakens in us. If there is not tenderness
there is interest; unless you are 18-30, and to the person is a pure physical act.
If true that young men are using it; or are eager to use it, they are just wasting their time and money,
Additionally they are endangering their bodies because the Viagra side effects are not pretty. Blurred
vision; headaches, and who know what else. I think that by stating that young men are using it,
they hope to generate sales, that by now must sagging, pardon my pun, and at $10.00 a pop,(if that is still the price)if it works at least one time, to make the money, what do they care about repeat sales? They are also encouraging young men to break the law as Viagra can only be obtained by prescription, if a person suffers “erectile dysfunction.”
As the old song used to say, instead of Viagra: "Try a little tenderness". Enough

Women like tenderness......but we also like a big, hard erection!

They aren't taking it because they have a hard time getting it up. Or to have a better erection.

They take it because they mistakenly think that it will help them "last" longer, which it does not actually do. All it accomplishes for them is it makes the 10 minute wait between romps a wait of about 8 minutes instead :P.

they don't want to work hard, they just want to do 2 humps and reach the zenith. I rather do it myself, then sleep with a man who takes viagra.

Why should I read this article. I am young. I live on viagra. I am blue inside. My urine is green because of the viagra.

Younger men and Viagra. Hard to believe but if true then it could be more out of a sense of novelty that they are taking it and perhaps due to the belief that it would give even more harder erections than the ones they are alreay getting.
I have tried in my lifetime out of novelty many different types of products some sold in the health section of the likes of walmart. Chinese brush or blackwood as it is called can also harden the tool without having to take any ED medications. Out of the many products that I have tried I now swear by Cialis as the best on the market. Not only does it work but its feature and its ability to last for 3 days is really better than the likes of Viagra. One should also take Saw Palmetto and Muira Puma on a regular basis. Saw Palmetto is supposed to be good for Prostate.
Here are some other ingredients that are also popular. They can be found individually or as a combination.
Yohimbe, Peruvian Maca, Catuaba, L-arginine, Avena Sativa, Tribulus Terrestris, Damiana, Billberry, Ginkgo Biloba.

I'm 38 and I can gladly say I have no need for the stuff. I don't know anything about what it is or what it does to you. I couldn't imagine how painfully embarrassing it would be to have to ever resort to something like that. But then, I signed the petition for the Death With Dignity law in my state.

If you don't know what it is or what it does. Then how did you get in here? Did someone forget to lock the screen door?

Caught me to the quick! What it is as in what it is made of and what it does as in what the long term effects are.

You must be very insecure.I am 65 and a couple of years ago when I went on blood pressure medicine which caused a problem. I just told my other half I was having a problem which may be temporary or may not be. I purchased some medicine, which I only needed for a few weeks. I do not see any reason to be embarrassed. You are better to take the medicine and charge forward.

why are men so gddang lazy? it takes a little bit more work to hold out (hint: MORE FOREPLAY), so instead they turn to a tiny pill thats loaded with longterm consequences of which they're still not sure of. and anyway, who wants to get pounded into oblivion? jackhammer intercourse is really not at all appealing!!

""it takes a little bit more work to hold out (hint: MORE FOREPLAY)"

"I'm just as good now as I was when I was 22. The only difference is that when I was 22 I could do it all night, and now it takes me all night to do it." (Rimshot!)

I'm under the impression you're a woman, and as such you might not fully understand the nature of this problem. If a man has ED caused by insufficient circulation, no amount of foreplay will do the trick. Viagra works by dilating the blood vessels.

It appears to me that you don't know what Viagra does. So I'll help you. Its not about work or energy. Viagra and the other meds like it help facilitate and maintain an erection. Which, I think both partners appreciate. It is not an aphrodisiac and it does not take the place of arousal, which is mostly mental and partly your job. If your partner does not need it, congratulations. If he does and uses it, congratulations.

Younger men may be experimenting with Viagra out of novelty. However, today's lifestyle produces many stresses that may affect sexual dynamics. These stresses which were probably less common years ago are likely the reason for the elevated interest by young men.

thanks for replying. my comments though were directed at those who don't have a medical need for it and simply use it for sport--not for the men who would obtain a prescription from their doctor because they actually need it. i definitely wasn't trying to be mean or to trivialize ED and those who suffer from it. it's the twenty + thirty-something men who take it for the fun of it that i was venting my frustrations out on! :)

Great post - it could replace much of the ill-informed babble in this thread.

Men taking Viagra in their twenties and thirties is a train wreck waiting to happen and a freight train at that. God only knows what the long-term effect this drug will have regarding strokes.

And as stated, any man of such a young age who has trouble maintaining an erection needs to see a doctor for testing.

Hi everyone,

This comment is completely off topic but I wanted to share with the Huffington Post editors and readers a discovery of an awesome website:

http://www.freeworldu.org/static/index.aspx

It is run by a non-profit group that is trying to provide free education to anyone in the world by using electronic flashcards.

Please look at the website, review it and spread the word. It has such great potential and I know that the Huffington Post can give it the attention it deserves. Thank you!

If men would ask their wives/partners, they would certainly find out that their "performance" is less important than their attentiveness and their communication. Just ask and see.

How would you be able to tell the difference between that and, say, heroin? If they create a heroin that has no bad side effects, it'd be the END of civilization.

That would be young rethugs you're thinking of; even after all of the blood has fled their brains, it's still not enough blood pressure to do the job.

Young liberal democrats, OTOH, maintain enough blood pressure to give their ladies the news at the same time their giving them the "business."

Too many Americans are taking supplements that mask more serious problems. Most of these problems arise from poor diet and exercise habits.

It's not a coincidence that hyper-caffeinated beverages are selling so well these days. Our energy levels are alarmingly low. Why? Because we eat a lot of processed junk every day. We also stay in the house more, sit in front of the TV or computer, play video games, and don't challenge ourselves physically.

Drugs like Ritalin and over the counter supplements that "boost" memory and concentration are top sellers for the same reason.

We are not taking good care of our bodies. There are invisible side effects accumulating from all of these supplements that we take. That will be the problem for today's 30-50 year old to deal with in the next 20 years.

"It's not a coincidence that hyper-caffeinated beverages are selling so well these days. Our energy levels are alarmingly low. Why?"

The big reason is the simple and obvious one: Americans are not getting enough sleep, for a variety of reasons -- too many hours working, too much time spent commuting (forcing people to be on the road before dawn), too much time spent in the evening watching TV or hanging out on-line. Fatigue can be a big factor in unsatisfactory sexual response.

Haa!

I once heard Les Paul tell this one:

"My doctor prescribed Viagra for me. I told him 'Doc, isn't that like raising a brand shiny new flag-pole on a condemned building??'".

Whatta guy.. he just turned 93 this past Monday.
