Pool House

Politico:

Think big-shot reporters are allowed to drink the night away at lavish fund-raisers on the road?

Well, the Washington Post's Anne Kornblut, last night's Obama pool reporter, spent more of the evening trapped in the pool house than in the Virginia home of Ethel Kennedy, where guests dropped $28,500 each to hear the candidate.

Eventually Kornblut's let in, but not before rummaging through Kennedy memorabilia and talking to kids about Miley Cyrus.

Pool report--yes, it works as a pun!--after the jump.

I don't understand the complaints. She could be reporting from the Green Zone in Iraq.

Not only was the reporter able to see the speeches, the blame might belong to the Kennedys rather than the Obamas; it was at Ethel Kennedy's house.

It is a good thing that Obama's campaign is financed by people giving less than $200. Damn Kennedys (all of them except Caroline, who is on his Veep selection committee); trying to corrupt the process with their fundraisers and $28000 contributors.

Does anyone else find it interesting that the msm opened up this a.m. with a story that basicaly said that iraqi officials said that Obama's position on Iraq was more like McCain's. That Obama was "quietly assuring Iraqi officials."

This story was reported by the Washington Post.

Hmm.

Hmmmm. Stonewalling and "embedding" the press even though the Media like NBC (and HuffPo) have totally rolled over like pathetic lapdogs? Sanitizing the Obama audience for photo ops? Winks and nods about Free Trade (remember the Goolsbee Canada visit, the talk about bitter whites and their "anti-trade sentiment") Hypocrisy about campaign financing... Ever get the feeling you are being bamboozled? Hoodwinked? The deal aint done yet. We can bring Hillary back in August.

Let me get this straight. You're criticizing Obama for free trade when the Canadian government clearly debunked those false rumors and yet you want to bring Hillary back because she actually advocated for NAFTA as first lady? I do get the feeling I'm being hoodwinked, by you.

Damn you free traders; seal the borders right now. Nothing goes out and nothing comes in.

The biggest question is: Was the Washington Post's Anne Kornblut provided with food and entertainment while in the pool house? The only thing which would upset me about denying access to the media elites is if they were straved for food.

As for the banishment from the main house, this is good payment for all the crap the media generates about Obamas being elitists, Michelle being an angry black woman, Barack being unpatriotic and of course the "bitter-gate".

After all the spreading of rumours done by the media, I cannot blame Obama for paying the reporters back in the c urrency they understand which is denying access. Good for you Obama!!

Why do I think that if an article came out about McCain going to a fundraiser where each attendee, none of whose names we know, paid 28,500 to attend that this site woudl be alive with anger, nasty comments and all kinds of charger but they seem so complacent when it is our own candidate? Reminds me of the energy group of 2000. I guess I need not hear any more comments about the speech charges of Bill Clinton.

Isn't it part of the script that the media turns on Obama? How else will McCcain win.

Obama better outsmart them somehow. I have an idea! Gay marriage!

Obama better get over his media phobia. If he ever gets elected, he will have press with him all the time. It's a security thing...if he tries to evade them, it will look like he is trying to hide something which makes Americans very nervous.

$28,500/each...yeah, that's everyman

Of course the reporter was a woman. Would a male reporter have been treated like this?

I don't think it's him evading them but he's not letting them control things. Majority in the media are only pretending to be journalist. All they care about is ratings and sales the truth be damn.

I agree about the media. There are no objective journalists anymore. It's true that ratings and sales are all that's important.

Give me a break with the feigned outrage over sexism. Once I got married, I was rudely awakened by how hard women can be on one another. My wife literally was on the brink of a mental breakdown, she came home some days crying, at her last job because of how badly her female boss had bullied and humiliated her. So yes, sexism is alive and well, and we as men have to make improvements, women also need to treat one another better.

The one I liked was:

Blow up your TV,
Throw away the paper,
Move to the country,
Build a little home.

Plant a little garden,
Eat a bunch of peaches,
Try to find Jesus
On your own.
