Jindal

Bobby Jindal, Louisiana Governor, exorcist, and potential McCain running mate, was interviewed on CBS's Face The Nation on Father's Day. Among the topics covered, Jindal was asked about his opinions on the debate over intelligent design's place in the public school curriculum. Jindal supports teaching intelligent design alongside evolution in the classroom, saying:

I personally think that the life, human life and the world we live in wasn't created accidentally. I do think that there's a creator. I'm a Christian. I do think that God played a role in creating not only earth, but mankind. Now, the way that he did it, I'd certainly want my kids to be exposed to the very best science. I don't want them to be-I don't want any facts or theories or explanations to be withheld from them because of political correctness. The way we're going to have smart, intelligent kids is exposing them to the very best science and let them not only decide, but also let them contribute to that body of knowledge.

Most scientists argue that intelligent design doesn't qualify as science.

So McBush says Obama is too young and inexperienced to be President, yet he's considering someone TEN YEARS younger than Obama to be his VP?

Someone explain THAT to me.

I seem to remember McCain disqualifying Jindal as too young. Or, rather, he strongly implied that Obama (at 46) was too young to be President. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/mccain-judges-obama-that-young-man/ . So, unless we use GOP "logic", Jindal (at 37) must also be too young to be President (which, given McCain's age, he easily might become at any time should McCain win the Presidency).

McCain: "Would you like another flop with your flip, sir?"

I think astrology should be taught in public school science classes. There are a LOT more people in the world who believe in astrology than those who believe in ID.

So, how many Huffkins believe that God did not create this and it was nothing more than a "big bang"?

The issue is what is science and what is not. What someone believes is not the issue. As usual, you missed the point.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:15 PM on 06/19/2008

So now y'all are going after the big bang theory, too.

Funny. I never had a college science professor who insisted that I couldn't believe in God to be a good scientist.

Xtians? Not so much.

Oh! And the earth is not flat. Hate to break it to you.

I think the real question is when did you stop beating your wife? (i.e. loaded questions are a pointless way to start a discussion).

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:20 PM on 06/19/2008

Thanks for your satiric illustration of the main point of the article. Exactly. Science is all about empirical evidence, and your focus on belief aptly illustrates this point. (Wait! HumeSkeptic thinks you're not joking? Surely not?)

By the way, the big bang theory has virtually nothing to do with theories explaining life, especially evolution. I'd love to discuss this with you further. Please elaborate your position.

Excuse me? His "position" is none of your business even though it's quite "elaborate" and his wife likes it too. By the way, what does butter have to do with any of this, whether it's evidence of "empirical" or "land-o-lakes"? And another thing: if you try to "focus" you're gonna get ht right between the eyes by bofus so don't even try. And you can't discuss it with his further 'cause he don't get home till after seven. This country's already had one evolution and we don't need no another -- says so in the bible.

More to the point, what evidence do you have that your "god" - who I presume to be the mythological "descendent" of European "thunder gods" such as Odin - did create "this"? Because if you don't have any proof - other than a book written by people peddling the ridiculous notion that a human being can walk on water or live again after he's dead - facts we know to be untrue - then you have no standing to question anyone else's beliefs.

Agnostic ...according to a professor i had in order to qualify as an atheist you have to deny every religion singly...one at a time deny each...pff what an ass of a psychology prof.

Your professor was wrong... he was an ass. An atheist merely has to believe there is/are no supreme being(s) that created the world/govern the world. You do not have to singly reject every religion and doing so would not be sufficient for being an atheist, as one could reject every actual religion and still be disposed to accept some possible religion.

You should report that professor to whatever department he's in. He's incompetent.
