Mccain Didnt Love America

Republicans have hammered Michelle Obama for her remarks in February that she was proud of America "for the first time in my adult life." Tonight, however, Dan Abrams showed footage he uncovered of a Fox News interview with John McCain on March 13, 2008, in which McCain said, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company."

Abrams thinks McCain's comments could undermine the "right wing's steady attacks against Michelle Obama."

Nice try. This is a ridiculous comparison.

Please, elaborate.

Nice try? You have to be kidding me! You must be deaf or blind not to observe that your guy is a weak god on clay feet. Mr McCain 'not loving America' is a big deal to me. Henceforth, the right wing nuts will think twice before attacking the Obamas on patriotism. Classless Cindy McCain in her single attack line of Michelle Obama needs to talk to her husband first.
Oh! Cindy time for a new attack line.

McCain's statement is not comparable to the one made by Ms. Obama and it is stupid to try to compare the two.
McCain's statement was an admission that he did not love this nation for real until he was denied the ability to go home. That is not the same as Ms. Obama's statement about finally being proud of the US.
All Abrams did was to reinforce the perception that MSNBC will do anything possible to protect Obama while saying anything to attack his opponents.

Not sure why you think this - since both quotes can easily be taken out of context and smeared.

Don't you know the liberal media was a myth? A rallying cry to get conservatives and RW'ers in high positions in the media establishment? This is what we will see until the election is over. Constant attacks on everything Obama does, and McCain getting treated with kid gloves.

So it's ok for McCain to take things out of context when Barack or Michelle says them, not the other way around, right?
I guess this just eased made McCain's Youtube problem :-)

Taken out of context BOTH quotes can be interpreted as "I hate America". Michelle was talking about the American political process, specifically her surprise with the way that voters had embraced Barack. In McCain's case, like a lot of spoiled, privileged young men, he took his own country for granted. It is possible that people can learn and even evolve.

Except her entire comment was that she didn't 'really' love America...........etc. That's the word they managed to cut out of what she said. Be careful about what you hear. The repubs have over and over again cut the pertinent info out. Oh, and that includes Rev Wrights comments. They actaully came from a white ambassador. Go figure.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:38 PM on 06/20/2008

No, Michelle's comment can not be interpreted to mean she hates America.

Michelle said, "For the first time in my adult life, I am {really} proud of my country."
She was referring to the interest and excitement the public was showing for this election season.
The most negative way you can twist that comment is to say she was not proud before. Having said that, you can love something or someone without being proud of it or them.

John McCain said, "I really didn't love America before I was deprived of her company."
He plainly said he did not love America before he became a POW.

Stop twisting the TRUTH.

I think both McCain's and Michelle's comments were fair because this country does not live up to it's principles far too much. That being said I think McCain's comments are much worse because he had no reason not to be proud of his country. He was raised as a spoiled son of an Admiral. McCain got into flight school not because of this own achievements at the Naval Academy but because he came from a legacy of Admirals. Michelle had to struggle against a system where African American women were set up to fail. While McCain was a son of privilege who had no reason not to LOVE this country.

Dan Abrams has gone way up on my list of media pundits this election. He is not overly partisan and calls out the right wing on their bullshit smears.

Finally for the first time last night what a dramatic turn around to seeking the truth and putting his spin on each and every subject. Perhaps Tim's legacy will have a good effect on the entire MSNBC gang. The facts and only the facts, no opinions needed.

If MSNBC stays with the legacy that Tim Russert set their ratings will sore.

How would you feel if you supported McCain? The conservatives are so enraged, embarassed and on the defense all the damn time. They need a way to vent their frustration, so how does a loser ever win? The only victory the GOP will be able to claim is attacking Michelle Obama.

One of the most ironic things about this so called fight between wives is that McBush is COUNTING on Obama being a gentleman and not attacking Cindi.

Whereas McBush has no such qualms.

Thus the McBush camp can attack Michelle day in and day out taking every single little thing she says or does and spinning into the their usual vile hatred for those that disagree with their attempt to establish a thousand year permanent republican reich.

Because if the dems want to attack Cindi they have TONS of ammunition from her past, adulterer, liar, theif, drug addict, etc.

Cindi could be shot to pieces within hours but like i said, The McBush campagin is counting on Obama to be a gentleman while they fire away at his wife over silly things.

I guess after eight years of cheating to win, the Republican mindset has rubbed off on some of us. They have mastered the art of cheating to win, beginning with the 2000 election!

A guy whose whole life (And the one of his fathers) was all about favouritism and nepotism ONLY happen to love america while in a custody of vietcongs who didn't care how elitist he was back in america. He missed getting excuses for all the plane crushes and other mistakes he could make and ONLY THAT TIME realize how fortunate he was in america.WE HAVE TO ACCEPT IT BECAUSE he looks just like us.On the other hand,a woman who doesn't look like us(Skin color) is impressed to see how many people of all works of life are answering her husband call for more/perfect unity, change, etc and we consider her ARROGANT,just like that, just because she has more melanin!!!

After ALL that John McCain received from this country up until his capture, he did NOT love his country?

And he repeats it over and over as if that is a GOOD thing???

Even Cindy loved America without being thrown into a prison.

So McCain is telling us that one has no reason to love this country UNLESS we are jailed in a foreign land. Absurd, goofy and weird.

Proud to have left the GOP before the NeoCons turned it into an sociopath insane asylum ... McCain is the right man for the NeoCon game.
