London Times:

The murderous violence being driven by President Robert Mugabe's militias reached new levels today with the killing and mutilation of four young men, the largest number of fatalities in a single incident in the last 10 weeks of Zimbabwe's election campaign.

Three of the men were Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) youth activists, defending the home of a local official from attack by Zanu (PF) youths in the sprawling dormitory township of Chitungwiza about 30 km south of Harare.

Mugabe is fully aware that his head is wanted at the Hague just like Charles Taylor. The only way is to take Zimbabwe down to his grave with him. The world is concerned because Zim is economically insignificant. In the meantime justice delayed is justice denied.

The man is obviously unbalanced, and the only sensible cure is the application of a half-ounce of lead, preferably behind his left ear !

I wrote this before but Huffo would not print it:
Someone please put down this rabid dog called Robert Mugabe out of his misery.

Is this all there is about a story which concerns people who are starving to death?
Is this all there is?
Is this all?

at the very least, in 2003, when Bush decided to take out a despot, he might have considered Mugabe rather than Hussein...it probably would have proven just as futile an effort, but Mugabe is a much larger thug...

South Africa continues it's slide downward as the hopes for a brighter future slowly dissolves through inaction and lack of courage.

The comment referred to South Africa's lack of intervention in Zimbabwes insanity.

The poor Zimbabwean people have suffered enough, they are crying out for rescue. The West should not just stand idly bye and allow this wicked heartless despot Robert Mugabe to strangle his people in broad daylight. I'm sure if Zimbabwe had oil or was in a more strategic geopolitical location, the West would have done something already to avert this crisis. It's just sad what has happened to this country. I can't understand how one man can singlehandedly reduce a country that used to be a success story in Southern Africa producing enough food to feed itself and it's neighbors to a country that is today a scar on the region, a cesspool of destitution and human affliction. Robert Mugabe is the worst thing that could happen to Zimbabwe and the country will never begin to heal until this cancer is removed from power. The world should do something. Mugabe should not be allowed to get away with this.

We would if there were no Chinese and Westerners arming these rouge governments but you wouldn't understand. Your sheer arrogance tells me that you have no idea why this crisis even exists but I am not interested in finger pointing - I just want peace already

This is a story about 3 people killed... aren't there other places where other people are dying in greater numbers?

For what its worth, this is a story about FOUR people killed in jut this isolated instance. The Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe has become one of the most repressive regimes in sub-Saharan Africa.

This is actually a problem that has been festering for at least a decade. Unfortunately, since this takes place in a poor country with no oil (see also Rwanda, Sudan/Darfur), a repressive, even genocidal regime is allowed to remain in office unchecked. These four deaths are just the latest of thousands attributed to this government. The fact that there are even four deaths due to some oppressive regime should be cause for alarm for some. However, you seem to have no sympathy for these people, who probably had their own families or loved ones. That indicates to me that you are not a very good human being.

It has been a horrible week for Zimbabwe. I am waiting for Goz to do his will. Mugabe is running roughshod, Mbeki's spine is in his dresser, no one wants to help while people are getting killed. Just last night the Mayors (Harare) wife was abducted and bludgeoned to death. You can read it here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/zimbabwe/2151048/Zimbabwe-Wife-of-Harare-mayor-murdered.html
HuffPo perhaps you can help us by running a story each day because goodness knows people are being killed willy nilly day in day out.

Help us. We matter.

It's what you get when you have a crazy old man as your leader. Hmmm.

It's also what you get when leaders in neighboring (and distant) countries look the other way or, worse, actively support the crazy old man.

As a South African, I find it utterly disgusting that Thabo Mbeki has not done the right thing with regards Zimbabwe. He has blood on his hands not only with regards his ridiculous crap about HIV/AIDS which caused a tragic loss of lives in SA but his refusal to condemn Zimbabwe and Robert Mugabe, the insane, murderous, tyrant.

Obviously I'm on the outside looking in, but I can't help but agree with your assessment. There should be more leaders like Kenya's PM Raila Odinga who has apparently always openly condemned the Mugabe regime and calls it an "eye sore and embarrassment to the African continent". From where I sit, Thabo Mbeki should be ashamed of himself. His inaction and refusal to condemn events in Zimbabwe reinforces opinions that Africans are either unwilling or unable to resolve their own problems. This should never be seen as an acceptable interpretation.

What's more, Mbeki's suggestion that Tsvangiri and Mugabe get together to form a government of national unity boggles the mind and is an affront to any reasonable person's common sense. Shameful.

If only Zimbabwe has some oil, Mugabe, like Saddam Hussein, will get some deserved attention from the Bush family. The suffering black folks of Zimbabwe will only get to experience coercive autocracy. Coercive democracy is for oil-rich Arabs.
