I Like ItI Don’t Like It
John Mccain

On Thursday Dan Abrams played a video during his MSNBC show of John McCain saying, "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company." Abrams speculated that the video could help to undermine the right wing's attacks on Michelle Obama for her comment about being proud of her country for the first time in her whole life.

On Abrams' Friday night show he began with yet another segment on McCain making statements about the difficulty of being proud of your country. This time McCain explained to a young man that "it's tough, tough in some respects" to be proud of America.

As Abrams notes, the statement is hardly controversial, but he goes on to ask, "is it really all that different from Michelle Obama's comment."

Watch the segment:

It's tough, in some respects, to take seriously ANYTHING McSurge says.

THe American people use to be something to be proud of because unlike others I think the people make a country but evne they are not something to be proud of as of late. Half the population cant seem to see that their country is sinking into fascism and the other half are too naieve they want to go back to Pre 911 and we cant. I naievely thought they can handle complex thinking that says we cant go back to pre 911 days and we cant act like 911 is justification for fascism there is a balance that can be struck but like I said their binary thinking allows for the simple and not the complex.

"it's tough, tough in some respects" to be proud of America. WOW! The first thing McCain has spewed from his mouth that I agree with. It's hard to be proud of america when you have a general public that voted in Bush, not once but twice. I have no confidence in the thinking and voting american public at this point, but I will support Obama and give him whatever donation he wants to see him change those same americans perceptions. If McCain is elected I'm throwing in the towel and retiring to Canada. I might have loved my country once, but I love my family and my teenage sons more.

I love my country. It's the government and big business that I'm unhappy with ...and all my fellow citizens who are too fat ,dumb and lazy to care about what's happening to the country that I love.

The whole Michelle thing is just ridiculous. That having been said, if MSNBC played the clip of John McCain during the day then other news channels would pick it up. The question is why is it only on Dan Abrams. Don't the producers support each other's shows. MSNBC had no problem playing Michelle over and over all day and night. Didn't Dan Abrams help run MSNBC for awhile. Doesn't he have some imput, even a little. Can't he suggest to the day time producers to run this clip? Is it just me?

No, it isn't just you...I too have noticed the absence of coverage of the daytime news shows.

The truth is everyone knows what it is Sean Hannity and company are trying to do. Paint his wife as a radical angry black person like carl Thomas said on fox news. The problem, like Huckabee warned, is if it backfires look out. That is the risk of attacking, make sure you are attacking with the truth not your interpretation of what you want people to think. The problem with these radio types is they don't know how else to attack.

Wait a minute. I thought that the neolibs taught us that sentences like this have to be parsed as follows:

"I didn't REALLY love America until I was deprived of her company."

Right? What am I missing?

you are missing the two week constant coverage that took swipes at obama over it...mccain's turn

A neolib is the new brand of liberal - not like Kennedy or Roosevelt or even Johnson. A neolib is someone who thinks that they are liberal, but are not really liberal. The neoliberal is the modern day fascist. A robot who comes armed with talking poinys but without the ability to reason. One who spouts pablum and lacks a brain. A peevish old woman - a girlyman. Got it?

Of course it is tough in some respects to be proud of America. McCain is right, there are some aspects of history that we should not be proud of. He vindicates Michelle Obama who was attacked by his wife for saying exactly the same thing.

While I don't like Osama and Michelle this incident is the very reason we can't get good people to run for office. Anyone with an ounce of decency wouldn't put their friends and families through the rectal exams that the MSM and everyone else puts candidates through. Everyone has skeletons in the closet. Does that make them a bad candidate? Not necessarily. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

HEY! It's Michelle, and Barack, that is their FIRST names, the couples last name is OBAMA.

Do you realy think you are amusing by not using Senator Obama's correct name? You are what gives this country a bad name.

Well veteran, You mean Obama right.

Two things: 1. I will give you the benefit of the doubt about your "typo" in Obama's name. 2. "Good people" rarely run for office because they generally aren't power-hungry-ego-maniacs. If bush/cheney had that rectal exam in 1999 we wouldn't be in the s*%#-hole we are in today. Bend over candidates?

Also, McCain was born in a foreign country. I don't care if it was on an American military base -- I'm not voting for a candidate who wasn't born on the soil of one of the 50 States.

EXACTLY!!! JOHN McCAIN is NOT a NATURAL BORN AMERICAN, and SHOULD NOT be eligible to run for president, SO SAYS THE CONSTITUTION.

If MY parents were both born in the USA, and I was born in CANADA, I AM A NATURAL BORN CANADIAN, NOT AN AMERICAN! and therefore I SHOULD NOT be able to run for president of the USA. I COULD THOUGH, run to be the PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA.

As usual, John McCain is getting away with skirting the country's law, DO YOU THINK THAT THEY WOULD GIVE THE SAME CONSIDERATION TO BARACK OBAMA?! It's pure hypocrisy!!!

If McCain is going to have Cindy attack Michelle Obama's patriotism than his own patriotism is fair game. So is his wife. If she is going to go out and attack Michelle than the McCain's shouldn't be surprised if their loyalty to their country is questioned. What Michelle said is no different that what McCain said. And the fact that the MSM has not treated McCain's comments the way they treated Michelle's comments betrays the MSM's conservative bias. The McCain campaign is being hypocritical.

Let's parse this like we were instructed to do for Michelle. He said:

"I didn't REALLY love America until I was deprived of her company."

Isn't that how neolibs would have interpreted McCain's statement?

it isn't a matter of interpretation. michelle did use the world really. it isn't as if we added that in later.
