Barack Obama Seal

The New York Times reports that Barack Obama, during a meeting with Democratic governors in Chicago, sat behind a previously unseen and very official-looking seal bearing his name. Featuring an eagle clutching an olive branch, the seal resembles that of the President of the United States. Above the eagle's head is the phrase, "Vero Possumus," which the Times translates as being roughly equivalent to "Yes We Can."

I'm a huge, long-time Obama supporter, and I hate it. Equal parts cheesy and presumptuous. If only today were April 1, they could say it was a joke and put it away for good- or at least until Jan. 2009. Between this and FISA, looks like the dems are having a bad day.

I don't particularly care for the look of the seal. It looks a bit cartoonish. That being said, I do not at all understand why it has created the negative vibe I've read in this thread. Silly, yes.. but arrogant, presumptive, a blunder, etc...not in my opinion. I just don't see what the problem is.

People are afraid of anything new and untried. I rather like the logo/seal whatever it is. Nice branding.

Now my feathers are ruffled. Branding? This drives me nuts.
This is not about product marketing.
This is about a critically important presidential election, and the future direction of our country.

This is almost as bad as McCain's lime green backdrop

This is not an example of good thinking. It strikes me as both presumptuous and cartoonish. Something I'd expect to see on the back cover of Mad Magazine, where you fold it and it turns into a picture of George Bush leaving the White House for the final time.

Reminds me of those 8-10 flag behind him with a blue curtain at his "historic' speech on race in the Philadelphia Hall....as far back as that he was trying to look Presidential. What a joke..that isn't what makes one look Presidential.

Yeah. but we've got to remember that he's got a staff of people making these "image" related decisions for him, and sometimes when a candidate puts their trust in their judgment, it backfires. Think Snoopy Dukakis driving the tank.

Obama will seek first peace, but will throw arrows if necessary. Hope McCain gets the message. Do you get it?

Any idea what that round thing is in the front? It looks bolted to the eagle's wings. I'm lost on the symbolism here. The Latin is hilarious too.

Great Seal. John W. Bush McCain is angry he didn't think of it first.

John McCain doesn't need the illusions or the presumptuousness. He is a true American hero, even Obama admits that.

Yes, McCain is a true American hero just like thousands of others.

He, on the other hand, must also take credit for costing the American taxpayers

$3.5 billion for the Keating Five Scandal.

Who the heck would make this man POTUS at a time like this?

If you want your dollar to be worthless, you could..........................................but it

would be a dumb move.

VOTE OBAMA!

Instead of a circle- like a seal, it oughtta be done like on a badge, or plaque, like an Eagle with wings spread, not quite a motorcycle style, but in that direction. That would give the name, website, and look elegant but completely neutral of any mind manipulation.

The seal looks too goofy. That's what's so great about these blogs. You can figure out in minutes what it used to take weeks to scout for.

This is the first blunder I've seen made by Obama's campaign.

It's a small one, but a blunder nonetheless.

Some staffer made a big mistake. Almost everyone on here hates the logo. We cannot all be wrong.

No, it's not BUT it IS the FUNNIEST!

Might as well use the Obama seal. They were already dumb enough to have a thousand photos taken with Obama in front of the Obama fake presidential seal. The RNC has all the photos they need. Unless they can figure out some way to unring this bell.

Breaking News!-=--Obama sneezes like a president

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:46 PM on 06/21/2008

I think this 'seal' is too cute by half. I am rooting for Obama, but this seal is a bad idea; looks like someone in the campaign spent forever designing it and they felt obligated to use it. Comes across as a little presumptuous and kind of phony. I wonder if they are starting to treat the electorate as if they are as dumb as they seem.
