QUINTON, Va. — A Virginia man lost about 80 pounds in six months by eating nearly every meal at McDonald's. Not Big Macs, french fries and chocolate shakes. Mostly salads, wraps and apple dippers without the caramel sauce.

Chris Coleson tipped the scales at 278 pounds in December. The 5-foot-8 Coleson now weighs 199 pounds and his waist size has dropped from 50 to 36.

The 42-year-old businessman from Quinton says he chose McDonald's because it's convenient.

His inspiration came from his two children and from the story of a blind war veteran who rode a tandem bicycle cross-country.

Coleson says his goal is to get back to the 185 pounds he weighed when he married Tricia Summer. Their 10th anniversary is Saturday.

When I saw the headline I figured that he must have vomited the weight out.

Apple Dippers without the caramel sauce? Why didn't he just go to the grocery store and buy some apples?

I despise free publicity for companies like McDonalds. Their food is not healthy and they pay their workers horrible wages so I choose not to support companies like this.

I don't know how the ADA can call 1200-1400 calories a starvation diet. That's how many calories are on the diabetic diets handed out by every doctor I've gone to. Might it be because THEY weren't the sponsors of the diet?

And, true - he could have saved money buying his ingredients in a regular store, but he was proving a point to his wife who doubted he could lose anywhere. And, in other stories about this, he did eat the occasional cheeseburger to add variety. It is more portion control than anything.

This does sound like a guerilla media campaign by McDonald's. But as some said earlier, his diet was almost a denial of the fare that the company is known for, burgers and fries. It is like saying, "get away from the fatty food that McDonald's offers and you can lose weight." A bit of a two edged sword.

He is still too heavy, though. Subway should grab him and put him on the Jared diet and see how fast he can get down to 150-160 pounds.

Now you know liberals aren't going to sit still for this.

After all, "Supersize Me" is a movie somebody made, so it must be true.

What's this got to do with liberals?

You're an idiot.
There's nothing untrue about Supersize Me.
Coleson ate "mostly salads, wraps and apple dippers without the caramel sauce".
That is hardly the typical McDonalds meal, fool.

Ronald McDonald: "Well give you $5K if you can lose 100#"

Coleslaw: "No way. Jared got $50K.

Ronald: "Ok, $10K and all the food for free"

Coleslaw "I'm gonna make Micky D's look healthy gonna cost you at least $25"

Ronald: "$20's our top offer"

Coleslaw $20K will get you a 50 pound loss. Six months.

Ronald: "Dammit, you win, 80#, not a freakin' pound less, and you show up for every press conference we schedule.

Ronald: We see you eating one single french fry and we're hirin' Jared."

I find it rather curious we don't *see* Jared these days.

Wouldn't it have been almost as convenient and a lot less expensive to buy bags of salad stuff and apples at the grocery store??

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:33 PM on 06/20/2008

McDonalds would not have paid for that.

McDonald's didn't pay for this either - so what's your point?

I wouldn't call it a McDonald's diet without any burgers or fries...it was a salad diet that
he ate at McDonald's. They now serve several varieties of salads for around $5.
Hard to see all that other food I should think. He has a lot of will power.

Will power?
He's brave to even eat the sh*t they call "salads".

I lost 15 pounds at McDonalds in three weeks! I simply went in, turned around, then left again without buying anything. Imagine that, losing weight at McDonalds, and all you have to do is not eat their food at all!

LOL, thats too funny.

I think I did that diet without even meaning to!

You mean what they serve is called food? I thought it was cardboard because that's what most of it tastes like.
