French-Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion is responsible for the world's worst cover version -- a rendition of rockers AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" -- Total Guitar magazine said in a poll.

Dion has never released the song as a single but performed what the magazine called the "offence" against music at a Las Vegas concert six years ago in a duet with Anastacia.

"The number one worst cover song -- Celine Dion covering AC/DC -- is sacrilege," said the magazine's editor, Stephen Lawson. "The best covers are unlikely choices and they do something radical."

Clips of Dion and Anastacia rocking are available on the Internet video-sharing website YouTube. One of the comments that doesn't use strong language read: "My poor ears."

Ridiculous. I saw that show, and it was a lot of fun. Obviously she did it as a joke. And Anastacia was really smokin on that number.

There are tons of worse covers. I guess nobody remembers Milton Berle doing Yellow Submarine...

The Celine cover is not that bad. it is just not her normal style and the critics are letting her know. The song sounds the same as the AC/DC song - it's just with her voice. If she attempted to alter it and it failed then it would be really bad. As it is it's okay.

Aaawww! I know people make fun of Celine because of all the crazy gestures she makes when she's singing and stuff lol, but she IS a talented vocalist.

As representative of Canada, I'd like to take this opportunity to say "sorry" for letting this mess out of our borders. Everyday we pray that Celine dies in a fire.

I started watching the whole spectacle on YouTube, but I was just too embarrassed for her to continue. She is so awful, almost as awful as Barbra Streisand.

I agree with Quaoar below. Shania's version was significantly worse.

AC/DC's music is gritty and street-poor, something Dion has never, and will never, know. It's music from the heart, it's music meant to enrage and enliven, again something Dion doesn't know. Nor do her followers and fans.

Why wasn't there an arrest made here?

My vote goes to Fred Durst and Johnny Rzeznik covering "wish you were here". It brought me to tears, but in the bad way.

Some things just shouldn't be touched.
"Wish..." and "Comfortably Numb" come to mind immediately.

The worst cover ever? Faith Hill slaughtering Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart".

Yeah--truly bad--but Hill said so herself. She was handed the song to cover before she had ever heard Joplin. Interestingly, Hill re-covered the song later, just to make partial amends. Something of an improvement, but still should have been left alone the first time.

I couldn't narrow down my nominations to a single Time-Life collection, but just a couple of honorable mentions: Tina Turner putting "Whole Lotta Love" completely to sleep and Van Halen making junior high school talent shows proud by phoning in "Pretty Woman."

Each to his own: I remember someone complaining that Jimi Hendrix must turn over in his grave every time he hears Bob Dylan cover "All Along the Watchtower"--but then he thought Elton John drummer Nigel Olsen was "a hot chick."

I hadn't heard that about Faith Hill. I can forgive her if it's true that she never heard Joplin's version, although that's a little hard to believe, even for someone as young as she is.

I forgot one that's even worse though - Pat Boone's rendition of "Smoke on the Water".

Of course Janis's version was a cover to begin with, like most of her songs. She only stole from the best artists, black of course. She was the Michael Bolton of the 60s.
