President Bush met with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo today at the White House. Arroyo was in Washington while her country tries to recover from a typhoon that devastated coastal areas and flipped a ferry carrying over 800 passengers last week. Before discussing aide for the Philippines, Bush couldn't resist beginning the sober meeting with a quip about a Filipino member of his kitchen staff. Read part of the transcript from the meeting and click here to read more about one of the "Philippine-Americans" Bush is referring to. See the excerpt below:

PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Oval Office. We have just had a very constructive dialogue. First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that -- in which there's a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the -- of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House. (Laughter.)

PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes.

PRESIDENT BUSH: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President.

PRESIDENT ARROYO: Thank you.

In 7 1/2 years in office, we've been listening to our National Jerk. Have you noticed that when he is speaking from the humanitarian side of the office, he hems and haws, jumbles his words and sounds like a town (national) drunk. When he's speaking about military matters (bring it on), he sounds confident. We're being led by Eddie Haskel.

Was it Alfred E Newman who said "War means never having to say you're sorry."?

That's a sick remark. Thats almost as bad as going to Mexico, speaking with the President ,and saying: "Im reminding or how talented our Mexican brothers are when I walk across the White House lawn and see how well kept it is."

Can you guys imagine what moments McCain will have if he's elected? If Bush is as "bafoon" as we know him to be, you know McSame is going to "up him one". McCain: "I'll see your dumb comment and I'll raise you a bigger gaffe." LOL

Why doesn't he have an Amerikun or Texan chef? What kind of ethnic dishes does this chef serve the boss? Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? Ribs? Hamburgers? Fried Chicken? Yeah, thank you President Bush for this fine cultural comment.

Stupidity, criminality, duplicity, intrigue, tyranny, fascism, and dastardly deviants on the prowl for the destruction of a young democracy have found safe haven in the highest seat of power in the world.

Lunacy has a new nation and it is America. Tyranny has a new face and it is that of George W. Bush. The country has been “Bushwacked “, “Cheney-ized” (bend over), and “GOP’ ed” or “Generally and Openly Punked”. Fascism is hiding out in the open, living in the Whitehouse, and daring anybody to do anything about it.

More of Bush at his best:

"I'm the master of low expectations." -—Aboard Air Force One, June 4, 2003

"I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things." -—Aboard Air Force One, June 4, 2003

Mmmm..Lumpia! Can you recommend a good Filipino Restaurant here in Stumptown?
(I'm serious!) I'm sure you have discovered the awesome Chaat House Indian Cart around the block? Now, what the hell are we still doing inside on a rare beautiful, sunny day like today in River City? I hear the Marine Layer is on its way back!
