Bush To Filipino President: "I Am Reminded Of The Great Talent Of The -- Of Our Philippine-Americans When I Eat Dinner At The White House"

President Bush met with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo today at the White House. Arroyo was in Washington while her country tries to recover from a typhoon that devastated coastal areas and flipped a ferry carrying over 800 passengers last week. Before discussing aide for the Philippines, Bush couldn't resist beginning the sober meeting with a quip about a Filipino member of his kitchen staff. PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Oval Office. We have just had a very constructive dialogue. First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that -- in which there's a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the -- of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House. (Laughter.)

PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes.

PRESIDENT BUSH: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President.

PRESIDENT ARROYO: Thank you.

About eight years ago candidate Bush was on the David Letterman show. Durning a commercial break one of Letterman's aids came on the set to help David with something. Bush, without asking, reached out took the bottom of the woman's dress in his hand and cleaned his glasses with it. I new at that moment everything I needed to know about the 'man'.

Makes you wonder how Bush ever became our President and for two terms no less!! Michael Moore once said that the American People are stupid and was referring to the voters who put Bush there. It also makes you wonder with such incompetency who really runs the affairs of the White House. Somehow is difficult to imagine Bush sitting at his Oval Office Desk and intensely pouring over all of the day to day correspondence and actually reading this stuff and knowing what it's all about. Duh!!! This Nation is in such a mess because he cannot perform his duties as President and all was left up to the VP and others to carry. Every time Bush speaks (without a script) he is just to embarrassing to watch. Yo! Blair!! as he once called the PM...As the leader of the greatest Country in the World all of us " good folks" could have done better. Of course all of that is to late now and all us "folks" are paying the price for electing him. The damage done over the past 8 years will have fallout for decades to come. We would hope to do better the next time around but with the current choices available it seems very doubtful.
