The first guest on the Tom Brokaw-moderated Meet the Press will be California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the program will be pre-recorded Saturday night from Jackson Hole, Wyoming -- the site of the Western Governors' Association annual meeting. The meeting begins on Sunday.

Other western governors will guest on the program as well -- Democrats Dave Freudenthal (of Wyoming) and Bill Ritter, Jr. (of Colorado).

Tom Brokaw is full of himself as is Schwarzenegger. I won't be watching. Brokaw is an anachronism.

Tom Brokow is a good man, and it looks like he stepped up to take over the show until they can get a replacement after the elections - Thanks, Tom!

In the meantime, Governor Schwarzenegger has some explaining to do . . . what exactly has he done that is so great that California sits in the biggest financial disaster it has ever experienced. Where did all the promises go? No - no more talking about what we should do - what have you done about it?!?!

Are you the "Terminator" to our problems in California. . . or just the Kindergarten Cop!?!

Tom, ask him when he is going to become a Democrat because we know he doesn't want to be associated with a bunch of losers.

I for one am delighted with NBC's choice of Tom Brokaw as the MTP moderator; however, I don't believe NBC could have chosen anyone who would win an approval contest after the passing of Tim Russert.

As for Governor Arnold as Brokaw's first guest, it's a good choice and there are many questions the Governor needs to answer. Lest we forget, from the ranks of our governors have come many of our Presidents and, although this particular Governor is not eligible to be President, he is hugely influential and we should at listen to what he has to say. Until McCain and Obama name their V-P choices, I don't want to hear from them or hear their overblown pandering to the American people. It will be great hearing from anyone else and governors are a good place to start. I'd like to see Senators and Congressmen interviewed as well. It's about time we hear from those who actually have the power to pass the laws we either agree/disagree with but affect us all.

It's obvious from the posts on this board that most people have not actually heard Schwarzenegger speak about some key issues. You should also check his record as Governor. He's pretty darn good. If I was a Californian I would vote for him. I saw him not too long ago in a joint interview on Charlie Rose with Bloomberg. I'd vote for those two for Pres and Vice if they ran, barring a Constitutional Amendment. And I'm a died-in-the-wool Democrat. Arnold is the new Ronald. Just watch. Now let the hating begin...

Um, actually I have heard the Governator speak about many issues. And from what I can see is going on in CA, he can keep talking all he wants and the state can keep going down the drain. His record as governor is not one I'd be bragging about, with the exception of his commitment to the environment.

And if the best you can say about him is that he's the new Ronald? Well, all I can say is a big thank you to the Framers of the Constitution for keeping an idiot like him out of the White House. The only president more disastrous for my state than that dimwit Reagan has been the Shrub. If I believed in a god, I'd be thanking him/her/it that I'm not forced to live in CA.

That said, I really don't think the Governator is relevant to any issue anywhere but in CA. So why would I waste an hour Sunday listening to someone I don't like, don't care about, and who has nothing to say that is relevant to me.

I was no giant fan of Pumpkinhead and I am appalled at all canonization being done of him, but at least he had relevant guests and issues on during a national election.

Are you serious?

I not only voted for him, I campaigned for him!

Flat out - why are we still in this mess - correction - in a bigger black hole than we were before? And, why are we NOT going after the oil that is under our precious land and oceans?

Tom, if you can shake that Governator cage of his, make him spit it out once and for all - why are Californians disappointed in him . . . especially those that rose up to get him elected?!?!

They should have Helen Thomas as the new moderator. She'd really ask the tough questions. Brokaw is another bought and paid for biased shill.

Way to get topical there, Tom. After all, there's nothing going on in national politics that merits any air time.

Seriously. The Governator??????????

I can start my Countdown now. 1 down and how many more to go? I for one will not be watching! Tom is already starting off on a bad note with me, I certainly do not want to see Rethugs on every Sunday. I cannot imagine him asking one of them a tough question.

Brokaw lost my respect 4 years ago when he claimed that the Swifties had no "direct connection" to the Bush campaign. What about the "indirect" (and not all that indirect either, people who used to be paid to flack Bush were now being paid by the Swifties who were being financially supported by pals o' Poppy Bush) ? THOSE "connections" were all over the web, but not a word about them from Brokaw. Shortly afterwards, he was invited to the White House, and, does anybody wonder why?

If this wasn't blatant propaganda, then what was?

OK, Tom Brokow, let's see if you can nail our Governor on why he will not allow us to drill for oil from oil the rigs that are all over our oceans - and ready to drill.

California is in a desperate crisis financially - he needs to step up and get that oil drilled. And please, tell him people do not want to hear that he wants us to go out and buy new Prius cars or any kind of new car that we cannot afford . . . he better have a good answer!

Agreed!

I heard him speak on this last week, and I could not believe my ears. Buy new cars?!?! Get that oil! We need to get to work first so we can keep our jobs!?!

Brokow . . . if you can get this guy to stop talking strategy, and give us the facts of the results of his efforts in trying to "get California out of their black hole" since he's been Governor . . . now that would be worth watching!

Meet the Republican. Is that the new format? They are trying to start WWIII with an attack on Iran, and we are going to see what the Austrian body builder has to say? Gimme a break!

What a douch*bag, he could have had someone interesting like Mickey Mouse! Anold is an embarrassment. He's just as good a governor as an actor. Maybe he can go back to his homeland after he destroys the state of california.

Perhaps a little selective memory there? We got rid of Davis for some very good reasons. Arnold had done a good job considering what he has been up against; militant unions that control EVERYTHING in this state, a mortgage meltdown, economic downturn, skyrocketing gas prices, illegals EVERYWHERE, and a president who stabs him in the back at every turn.

Agree with Arnolds political philosophy or not, the man has succeeded at everything he has set out to do in life. He is the American Dream.

you should not be afraid to actually go into a bookstore. books are not as scarey as you think and the enlightenment they provide is liberating.

or as my uncle used to say: "If ya don't open your mouth, they'll never find out how stupid you are."
